Target: Zicui Star! (Third Update)
Mu Fan ran in one direction for a full forty minutes before finally seeing the edge of the city. The metal tag on his chest, which had been scorching hot at first, was now only slightly warm, seemingly indicating the direction of the Asura Mecha.
Touching the "Fan" character branded on his chest, he no longer had to worry about losing his mecha. Now he had to contact Hei as soon as possible, otherwise how he would take this mecha with him when he left in the future was a real problem.
A full hour later, Mu Fan returned to the entrance of the Fuwen Mountain Villa and discovered that it was the best-preserved building on the Fuwen Mountain Villa Jiahe Avenue. There were many people in military uniforms participating in the rescue efforts at the entrance.
When Mu Fan got closer, he heard two people whispering to each other while clearing the rubble.
"Did you hear? That kid Macas isn't dead!"
"Who? Who is Macas?"
"You don't even know that? It's the mech that destroyed fourteen Reapers, wasn't it ultimately destroyed by the space pirates' Thunder Slash?"
"I know about that. It's a Warrior Grade mech. I've never seen one in person. Can anyone survive being hit by one of those shots?"
"Who can argue with that? The major even led the Fourth Guard in saluting, and I've even heard the government is going to award him the Federation Flamingo Medal!"
"Flamingo! That's the highest-ranking medal among soldiers! I don't think I've ever heard of anyone on Luoqie Star having one!"
"Yeah! And you know what's the most amazing thing? The government rescue team found the wreckage of that RX-16 while they were on their way, and there was an Escape Pod next to it. The top of the Escape Pod was blown off! But Macas is incredibly lucky, he didn't die! He's unconscious inside."
"Tsk tsk!" his companion exclaimed, marveling at Macas's good fortune. "Macas's going to be rich now!"
"Sigh, don't be envious. They risked their lives to achieve that. As for myself, I don't have the ability to take down 14 Reapers. I probably couldn't even beat one."
"Just keep moving the stones, be careful not to drop them on your feet."...
Hearing their conversation, Mu Fan suddenly remembered that Macas was the original pilot he had knocked unconscious and thrown into the Escape Pod. He probably would have forgotten about him if it weren't for their conversation. Thankfully, he wasn't dead. Feeling deeply apologetic, Mu Fan scratched his head.
Macas, surrounded by a group of high-ranking officers on the other side of the city, looked around with a bewildered expression. Suddenly, he sneezed, then remained dazed. What was going on? How did he feel like he'd been knocked unconscious, and when he woke up, the whole world had changed?
Suddenly, someone noticed Mu Fan standing blankly on the street scratching his head. A soldier came over and pointed to a place not far away, saying, "Are you alright? There's a refugee camp over there. You can go in and rest for a while."
Mu Fan's current state of being dressed in tattered clothes is even more miserable than that of a refugee, with not a single intact piece of cloth on his body.
After quickly thanking him, Mu Fan said, "I'm looking for someone; my friend is inside." He pointed to Manor No. 4 behind the soldier.
The soldiers quickly made way. Manor No. 4 was the best-preserved place on this street. One could easily guess how terrifying the Fowen Conglomerate was. It turned out that everyone had misjudged it before.
Mu Fan followed the route he took last night into the villa, and before he had gone far, he could faintly hear laughter coming from inside.
How could Gao Lingsen not be happy? He had narrowly escaped death, and now being able to stand safely on this land was the best thing ever.
Wayne was busy with other things, probably contacting people to find that kid named Mu Fan.
The servants, busy all around, all avoided the man laughing unrestrainedly on the lawn. He was a distinguished guest from afar, and it was said that even the Family Head dared not neglect him.
A gentle and quiet girl stood to the side, her back to the door, looking helplessly at her father.
"Um, where's Harry?"
Gao Lingsen, who was venting his frustrations, casually said, "I don't know, he probably went to look for someone with Wayne."
Then the sound suddenly stopped, and he slowly turned around. He saw Mu Fan, dressed in tattered clothes, staring at him with wide, expectant eyes!
"Mu Fan!"
"Mu Fan?" Sherry heard her father turn around and exclaim in surprise, and quickly turned around as well.
The people Wayne and his son were looking for were right in front of them! Thank goodness, they were all alive! Although Sherry saw Mu Fan's tattered clothes and various injuries, there was nothing happier than seeing him standing safely in front of her!
Sherry smiled broadly, her eyes curving into crescents.
Seeing the girl in front of him suddenly smile, Mu Fan once again defiantly ignored Gao Lingsen and said apologetically, "It's so good that you're all alright. By the way, could you tell me where Harry is?"
Gao Lingsen was furious when he saw that the boy glance at him and then stare at his precious daughter. However, he thought that he couldn't lower himself to the level of a teenager, so he snorted and stood with his hands clasped behind his back with an unhappy expression.
"Cousin Harry went looking for you! He said he couldn't get in touch with you. Wait a minute, I'll call him." Sherry took out her Sky Communicator and quickly connected to the fat man's voice message.
"What's wrong?" the fat man asked impatiently; he didn't have time to talk about anything else right now.
"Mu Fan is here." Sherry handed the exquisite milky-white Sky Communicator to Mu Fan, ignoring Gao Lingsen's unpleasant expression.
"It's me, Mu Fan!" A familiar voice made the fat man choke up.
Hearing the fat man's excited voice, Mu Fan felt a surge of warmth in his heart, knowing that he still had such a true friend on this planet.
"Mu Fan! Where have you been? Why can't Sky Communicator reach you?" The fat man's voice trembled as he bombarded him with a series of questions, which drew Sherry's bright eyes to him.
"I happened to encounter the space pirates detonating the bomb, and during the battle with them, I lost my Sky Communicator somewhere. Later, after the mecha appeared, I was knocked unconscious. When I woke up, I thought of coming to find you." Mu Fan's words were half true and half false, making it difficult for others to doubt him. He had to hide the fact that he piloted the RX-16 and later the Asura Mecha.
If there was anyone who truly understood Mu Fan, it was definitely Fatty. Fatty half-believed this, guessing Mu Fan some things he couldn't say over the Sky Communicator, so he immediately said, "Alright, Mu Fan, come into the VIP room quickly. My father wants to thank you; he has good news!"
"What good news?"
"The Federation Grand Exam!" It's finally here! When the fat man uttered those four words, Mu Fan's hands clenched instantly. Wasn't all his previous hard work for this day?
Leaving Luoqie Star and experiencing the life I've longed for! Mu Fan's eyes were filled with longing.
"Okay, I'll come find you!"
Mu Fan returned the Sky Communicator to Sherry, nodded his thanks, and dashed into the hall.
Sherry watched Mu Fan's running figure with envy. This was true friendship.
No one noticed that after Mu Fan hung up the Sky Communicator, the hidden cameras around them suddenly flashed and then focused intently on the spot where Mu Fan's figure had just disappeared.
"Mu Fan, I'm so glad you're not dead! Waaaaah, don't you know I almost destroyed myself?" Having finally found Mu Fan, Hei cried tears of joy for the first time on the internet.
Self-dissolution terminated.
These few hours felt like half a century to it.
