Bo Yizhou's fingers gently slipped through Gu Wancheng's hair as he blow-dried it, starting at the roots. With his movements, the dripping-wet hair was already half-dry.
Gu Wancheng sat with his legs together and his hands on his knees, looking utterly bewildered and dazed. His soul had clearly run away from home.
Wait, what was going on? How had things inexplicably ended up like this?
It had all started half an hour earlier, when Bo Yizhou suddenly spoke.
Gu Wancheng jolted in fright. "Why are you so close!"
Without a word, Bo Yizhou took the hair dryer from his hand, then pinned the blame on Chaochao. "Chaochao said you weren't behaving and asked me to check on you."
Gu Wancheng: "..."
Kid, you've really done me in.
He wanted nothing more than to haul him up right now and give his bottom a good spanking for blabbing all day long.
He snatched the hair dryer back and hugged it to his chest, watching Bo Yizhou warily. "All right, you've checked. You can leave now."
Under his expectant gaze, Bo Yizhou slowly uttered two words. "I won't."
O(≧口≦)O
Dude! You're breaking character! Do you know that?!
He really wanted to stand up, grab his shoulders, and shake him. It would be even better if he could shake him back into the calm, self-possessed domineering CEO from the book.
Not only had Bo Yizhou said it, he also intended to get hands-on.
Gu Wancheng watched helplessly as he reached into his arms, forcibly pulled out the hair dryer, and insisted on drying his hair for him.
And that was how they had ended up in the scene just now.
"It's dry now, right?"
The words had barely left his mouth before Gu Wancheng was shocked by how hoarse his own voice sounded and shut his mouth.
Bo Yizhou nodded and checked carefully before saying, "More or less."
"Then let's stop. I heard drying it too much is bad for your hair."
Bo Yizhou put down the hair dryer and ruffled his hair. "Wait a little before going to sleep."
Gu Wancheng nodded hastily. If he stayed any longer, his social anxiety was going to flare up.
Chaochao had long since grown impatient waiting over there. When he saw Gu Wancheng coming, he nearly teared up.
The sight almost made Gu Wancheng laugh. Holding it in, he walked over. "All right, all right, I'm back. Go to sleep."
Chaochao tilted his head up, unable to hide the exhaustion in his voice. "I want you to tell me a story."
Gu Wancheng: "..." This had come back around to him again. He didn't know how to tell stories! Faced with the child's expectant eyes, he decided to tell the truth.
"Daddy doesn't know how." He then passed the buck to the other father, so it wouldn't be as though he were the only one looking after their child. "Ask your father to tell you one."
The other father, suddenly tagged, raised an eyebrow. Don't look at me. Trying to pass the buck to me? Keep dreaming. He considered himself fairly familiar with Chaochao, so this wasn't going to land on him.
And things did turn out just as he had expected. Chaochao didn't want him to tell the story, and Gu Wancheng couldn't withstand Chaochao's mighty wheedling technique either, so he gave in.
Having agreed because he couldn't withstand Chaochao's wheedling, Gu Wancheng pressed a hand to his forehead helplessly and shot a fierce glare at the man standing to the side enjoying the show.

"Lie down in bed. I'll tell you one."
Chaochao lay down at lightning speed, pulled up the covers, and looked at Gu Wancheng with sparkling eyes.
Once Chaochao was settled, Gu Wancheng sat on the bed, pulled back the covers, and reclined beside him on his right.
He dredged up a story he had heard before and began to tell it.
"A long, long time ago, there was a ferocious monster named Nian... Nian hated the heat and loved sleeping... Each time it slept, it slept for a whole year, only waking up at the end of the year... It ate any people or animals it came across. It was very frightening.
At this, Chaochao immediately burrowed into the covers and whispered, "Why was Nian so bad?"
Gu Wancheng smiled and patted him. "That's right. Nian was a bad guy."
He continued.
"So whenever the end of the year came, people didn't dare stay at home. They all ran deep into the mountains to hide.
"...From then on, every Spring Festival, people would put up red couplets, red paper window decorations, and red 'fortune' characters. They would also set off crackling fireworks and firecrackers."
After listening, Chaochao remarked, "No wonder we put up so many things for the New Year."
Then he changed the subject. "I'm going to tell Suisui. He definitely doesn't know this." With that, he immediately closed his eyes obediently and contentedly to sleep. Unlike other children who refused to sleep no matter what, he was so easy to look after.
After Chaochao closed his eyes, Gu Wancheng looked at the man sitting in the chair over there and began to feel awkward again. Seeing that he wasn't moving, he opened his mouth, then closed it. Finally, throwing caution to the wind, he said, "Aren't you going to bed yet?"
As soon as he said it, he felt relieved. He had to face it sooner or later. They couldn't keep being husbands who barely knew each other. After all, he hadn't done anything dirty yet. Now that he had a legal husband, surely he ought to put him to use.
Bo Yizhou stood and walked toward him, step by step. With his sharply defined features, he looked rather cold and unapproachable when he wasn't smiling. At 190 centimeters tall, he had an overwhelmingly imposing presence. The pajamas he had changed into at some point covered a figure that looked lean clothed but muscular undressed. Gu Wancheng swallowed instinctively, his eyes straying uncontrollably toward him. Remembering the abs he had accidentally glimpsed earlier, he lowered his eyes. I really want to touch them.
Sensing his lingering gaze, Bo Yizhou smiled faintly where Gu Wancheng couldn't see.
As he approached, Gu Wancheng silently burrowed into the covers.
Bo Yizhou suddenly leaned over toward him. Gu Wancheng startled, and then the room went dark.
So he was just turning off the light. He couldn't help feeling a little disappointed. I thought...
In the darkness, every sense seemed magnified several times over. Breathing and heartbeats were perfectly clear.
Suddenly, Bo Yizhou reached out and brushed his cheek, lowering his voice. "Good night."
Gu Wancheng's breathing instantly quickened, his heart racing. He bit his lip lightly and said, "Good night."
There seemed to be laughter by his ear, but perhaps he had imagined it.
Drowsiness washed over him as soon as he lay down, and he soon fell sound asleep.
At half past six, Bo Yizhou was already up. He gazed absently at Gu Wancheng's sleeping face and pinched his cheek. The moment his rough hand pinched that delicate skin, it left a red mark. Seeing this, he let go.
He checked the time and quietly left the room, letting the father and son continue sleeping.
Sunlight slipped through the gap in the curtains. Gu Wancheng's eyelashes fluttered, and the next moment, he opened his eyes. He blinked, his gaze unfocused. It was obvious he wasn't fully awake yet.
After lingering in bed for a few minutes, he yawned. His stomach rebelled, leaving him no choice but to get up.
Seeing that Chaochao was still asleep, he didn't wake him immediately. The other side of the bed was already empty. He had no idea when Bo Yizhou had gotten up.
After washing his face, his mind finally cleared. As he brushed his teeth, he thought about what he needed to do today. He would start work tomorrow.
Apart from the orders he needed to finish, he had nothing else to do today. Wonderful \(^▽^)/!
A little later, Gu Wancheng came to the bedside and stretched out a wicked hand to nudge Chaochao.
Shaken awake, Chaochao looked at him blankly, his eyes full of grievance, as though demanding to know why he had woken him.
"Time to get up. Aren't you hungry?"
Chaochao rubbed his stomach. "I guess I'm hungry?"
"Either you're hungry or you're not. What do you mean, you guess you're hungry?"
Fighting his sleepiness, Chaochao climbed up and looked around. "Where's Father?"
"Your father got up ages ago. He's not like you, little piggy, only getting up when the sun's shining on your bottom."
Chaochao immediately retorted, "You only just got up too! Don't think I don't know. You're the little piggy. I'm a tiger."
Gu Wancheng humored him. "All right, all right, you're a tiger. Then hurry along and brush your teeth, Lord Tiger."
Chaochao saw through his perfunctory response at once. He pouted and quickly climbed out of bed.
