Background / History
Chaochao lost his biological parents in an accident when he was six months old. His father was Bo Yizhou’s adopted older brother. After distant relatives fought over custody to obtain his father’s inheritance—even coming to blows at the funeral—Bo Yizhou adopted him at his parents’ suggestion. The Bo Family’s standing protected Chaochao from further interference. Chaochao knows about his adoption 7 105.
Bo Yizhou initially gave him limited attention because of work. Chaochao was accustomed to sleeping alone and being taken to kindergarten by the family driver, but wanted more parental companionship. Hearing that Suisui often slept with his parents prompted him to ask whether he could sleep with both of his fathers 7 71.
On the night Gu Wancheng transmigrates, Chaochao comes to his door barefoot, carrying a pillow. Although frightened of the thunder himself, he claims he has come to protect Daddy. His presence eases Gu Wancheng’s fear and uncertainty, and the two quickly grow close 1.
Gu Wancheng’s knowledge of the original novel includes a future in which the original owner dies and Chaochao develops depression. He resolves to prevent that outcome; it is not Chaochao’s condition in the unfolding story 3.
Appearance
- Hair: Slightly curly and fluffy, often sticking up after sleep. Gu Wancheng compares him to a little curly-haired puppy 1 5 142.
- Face: Round cheeks and large, doll-like eyes; his eyes curve into crescents when he smiles 54 90 118.
- Build: Fair-skinned, chubby, and solidly built. Gu Wancheng repeatedly remarks on his weight when carrying him 9 49 94.
- Notable clothing: Wears a bunny-eared hoodie matching Suisui’s 85.
Personality
Chaochao is energetic, talkative, and eager for praise. He enthusiastically introduces himself to livestream viewers and proudly shares his achievements with Gu Wancheng. Compliments can leave him blushing and visibly delighted 17 37 56 97.
Beneath his confidence, he is sensitive to whether his parents are paying attention to him. Teacher Yu notices his disappointment when only the driver collects him from school. He also becomes jealous when Gu Wancheng pats other children’s heads, initially expecting Daddy to recognize his feelings without explanation. Eventually, he directly asks whether Gu Wancheng now likes other children instead 27 34 57 71.
He likes acting older and more capable than he is. He claims to protect Gu Wancheng from thunder, offers to undertake hard work for him, and sometimes privately treats Daddy as the younger child. His concern is also practical: when Gu Wancheng’s voice sounds wrong, Chaochao offers to cancel their amusement-park trip and brings him warm water 1 26 36 67.
Homework is his persistent weakness. He seeks help, bargains for reduced assignments, procrastinates, and becomes alarmed by threats of additional work. Food, praise, surprises, and the prospect of visiting Suisui are effective incentives 6 26 127 131 181.

Story Role / Major Arcs
Island Filming
Chaochao joins Gu Wancheng on Hello, Baby, introducing himself to viewers as “Daddy and Father’s precious baby.” On the island, he accompanies Gu Wancheng in searching for supplies, spots a seasoning box in a tree, and helps pick wild blueberries. After secretly eating berries instead of collecting them, he admits his mistake and resumes picking properly 17 25.
He befriends the other children, leads them to the blueberry bushes, and joins shellfish gathering and group games. His attachment to Gu Wancheng also becomes more apparent: he sulks over Daddy’s attention to other children before finally voicing his jealousy 27 36 41 57.
His appearance produces an enthusiastic audience response. Screenshots of him holding out a bowl for porridge become begging-for-money memes, which viewers successfully use to obtain red packets from older relatives 40.
Kindergarten and Suisui
After Teacher Yu explains how much parental pickups mean to Chaochao, Gu Wancheng promises that he and Bo Yizhou will collect him more often. Both attend his kindergarten parent meeting, where Chaochao reunites with An’an and discusses winning Suisui’s forgiveness 71 73.
His friendship with Suisui develops through persistent visits, video calls, reading lessons, Lego, and sleepovers. He repeatedly invites Suisui into activities he enjoys, including making croquettes, and saves an extra cake for him 79 95 121 131 181.
Later Filming and Family Life
Chaochao’s later show activities include making breakfast, harvesting vegetables, planting seedlings, and winning the frog-jump contest. On the grassland trip, he angrily confronts his fathers after they forget him while riding, then forgives them after Bo Yizhou takes him horseback riding. At the final bonfire party, he asks to return someday with Suisui 85 89 94 97 175.
Away from filming, homework remains a recurring source of conflict. Gu Wancheng introduces handwriting practice, while Bo Yizhou triples Chaochao’s assignments after he plays in the mud despite repeated warnings 131 179.
Fever and Ending
Chaochao develops a slight fever at kindergarten. Teacher Yu gives him medicine and contacts Gu Wancheng, who collects him and takes him home to the waiting family doctor. Although tired and dizzy, Chaochao still asks for spicy food and insists that injections do not frighten him 188.
By the ending, he says he is better. Gu Wancheng and Bo Yizhou arrange for him to stay with Suisui while they travel for a few days. He initially wonders whether Daddy no longer wants to raise him, but eagerly agrees after reassurance, asking his fathers to call and bring presents 190.
