The weather is getting colder and colder, and it's Sunday again. Wen Shuyu told them yesterday that they should go back to the old house for dinner together. Today is Snowball's first birthday. Snowball is their Maine Coon cat, a cat that looks very domineering but is actually very affectionate.
Gu Wancheng got up early in the morning. The gifts she was taking to the old house had already been prepared and put in the trunk by Butler Chen, along with the cat toys that Gu Wancheng had bought yesterday.
" Chaochao, wake up, we're going to Grandma's." After washing up, Gu Wancheng went to Chaochao's room to wake him up. They had a barbecue at home last night and he went to bed late, which made it difficult for Chaochao to get up today.
"I'm so sleepy," Chaochao said, hugging the corner of the blanket and not wanting to move at all, with her eyes closed.
Seeing him like this, Gu Wancheng felt a little reluctant to wake him up, and told him to continue sleeping for a while, and that he could have breakfast at the old house.
"Then sleep for another hour." As soon as Gu Wancheng finished speaking, she heard even breathing.
Gu Wancheng gave a gentle smile and tiptoed out of the room.
Bo Yizhou was sitting on the sofa in the living room. After seeing him come downstairs alone, he asked, "Where's Chaochao?"
Gu Wancheng shook her head and said with a smile, "He's sleeping. He went to bed too late last night."
Bo Yizhou nodded, "Then let's eat first, and let him eat at the old house later."
Gu Wancheng hooked her finger around his and whispered, "That's what I thought too. It seems we're on the same wavelength."
Butler Chen was passing by, gave him a kind and gratified smile.
After breakfast, the two waited another half hour before Chaochao finished washing up and came downstairs. Still half asleep, she walked up to Gu Wancheng and plopped down on his lap, clearly still not enough sleep.
Gu Wancheng chuckled, reaching out to poke his cheek. It felt so soft and sweet. Chaochao frowned and dodged her hand. Bo Yizhou picked him up and carried him towards the door.
Gu Wancheng followed behind them, occasionally poking Chaochao's chubby cheeks. Looking at his messy hair, she reached out and tidied it up, making it look less chaotic.
Throughout the journey, Chaochao slept soundly on Bo Yizhou's back, as if she hadn't slept for three days.
As we approached the old house, I woke up and became energetic again.
"Dad, did you get the birthday present for Snowball for me? It's the one we went to buy yesterday, and it's also a present that Suisui picked out, it's a ball." Chaochao opened her mouth and started chattering again.
Gu Wancheng reached out and pinched his mouth shut, saying helplessly, "I took them all, they're in the car."
What should I do if my child is too noisy?
Looking at Chaochao with a resentful expression, Gu Wancheng quickly let go of the little guy whose beak he had pinched into a duck's mouth. Just as he was about to start chattering again, she peeled a piece of candy and stuffed it into his mouth.
After finding something in her mouth, Chaochao promptly closed it.
As Chaochao diligently devoured the candy in her mouth, the car gradually came to a stop.
Gu Wancheng pinched his cheek. "We've arrived at Grandma's house. Let's get off."
Gu Wancheng got out of the car first, then carried Chaochao out. As soon as Chaochao landed, she couldn't wait to run to the back of the car.
"Dad, hurry up and get the gift, I want to take it in myself."
The driver opened the trunk and walked over.
Gu Wancheng took out the gifts that Chaochao and Suisui had prepared and placed them in his arms.
Chaochao clutched the gift tightly in both hands, and the small box on top was squeezed and fell off the side. Chaochao quickly said, "Daddy, the gift fell."
Bo Yizhou bent down to pick it up for him, but instead of putting it in his overburdened arms, he held it in his own hands.
Chaochao waited a while, but when he didn't bring it up, she asked in confusion, "Father, where's the gift?"
"I'll hold it for you."
Chaochao was about to refuse, but worried that it would fall again, so she said, "Okay."
After Gu Wancheng took out the gift for Snowball, she saw that Chaochao could barely see where he was going and wanted to help him carry some of it, but Chaochao refused.
Gu Wancheng had no choice but to follow behind him and watch him to prevent him from falling.
As soon as she entered the door, Chaochao shouted loudly, "Grandma! Chaochao brought a gift!"
Gu Wancheng looked at Wen Shuyu walking up and greeted him, "Good morning, Mom."
Bo Yizhou simply said one word, "Mom."
Wen Shuyu immediately walked over and smiled gently, "You're here! Oh, Chaochao brought so many gifts, are they for Snowball?"
Snowball darted out from the side, nuzzled affectionately against Chaochao, and then tilted its head to look at him.
Chaochao nodded vigorously, placed the gifts on the ground, and unwrapped them one by one. "These two are what I bought, and this one is what Suisui bought."
Wen Shuyu smiled and nodded at him, then looked up at Gu Wancheng and the others, " Chengcheng, have you had breakfast?"
Gu Wancheng nodded, "We've eaten, but Chaochao hasn't."
At this moment, Bo Ting downstairs and, after hearing his words, said to the person next to him, " Old Deng, go and tell someone to prepare some breakfast."
Butler Deng nodded with a smile.
Hearing this title from Bo Ting's mouth again, Gu Wancheng's lips twitched. It was so jarring. Butler Deng looked like an elegant and serious lady, and being called ' Old Deng ' was really out of place.
"Grandpa!" Chaochao turned her head immediately upon hearing his voice, her eyes sparkling as she called out.
Bo Ting's expression instantly softened.
"Dad."
Good morning, Dad.
Bo Ting completely ignored Bo Yizhou who had called him, and turned to Gu Wancheng a gentle nod, "Good morning."
Bo Yizhou's lips twitched, and he gained a clearer understanding of his position in the family.
"Grandpa, look! Suisui and I bought gifts for Snowball." Chaochao unwrapped the gifts and neatly laid them out on the ground. Snowball curiously reached out a paw to touch them.
"Yes, it looks great." Bo Ting nodded.
Chaochao smiled and handed the gift to Snowball, who was standing to the side.
Snowball picked up a smaller doll and ran to Gu Wancheng, who was staring at it. It put the doll down, rubbed against his leg, and gave a sweet "meow".
Gu Wancheng was completely charmed and immediately picked it up and put it on her lap to pet it. Snowball didn't seem to mind at all and even rolled around on her lap to expose its belly for her to pet.
"It's so affectionate," Gu Wancheng said.
"Right? Snowball has never seen you guys before," Wen Shuyu said with a smile. Snowball was someone she had brought from a friend's house.
Gu Wancheng nodded while petting the kitten.
He noticed that Bo Yizhou was also staring at the cat, so he picked up Snowball and placed it on his lap.
Snowball, still dazed from being petted, noticed they had moved to a different spot. Looking at Bo Yizhou, the cat and the man exchanged a glance, Snowball slowly turned its ears into airplane ears.
Seeing this, Wen Shuyu quickly picked him up and glanced at Bo Yizhou, "Look at you, with that stern face, even the little kitten is afraid of you."
Bo Yizhou's face darkened. He glanced at the Snowball in Wen Shuyu's arms, which had become sticky again. Gu Wancheng secretly smiled when she saw this, but he pinched her palm, and she almost couldn't keep up her expression.
Seeing Wen Shuyu looking over, she quickly shook off his hand.
" Chengcheng, do you want to come make dried fish for Snowball later? Your dad caught a few tiny fish yesterday."
Bo Ting's face immediately turned as black as charcoal, and he called out in a deep voice, " Shuyu."
Wen Shuyu glanced at him. "Did I say something wrong? Anyone who didn't know better would think you went fishing in a pond where they just released fish fry. Come on, Chengcheng, let's make some snacks for Snowball."
"Grandma, I want to go too!" Chaochao quickly stuffed a small steamed bun into her mouth and followed.
Bo Ting was furious. What kind of talk was that?
Bo Yizhou smirked, and Bo Ting glared at him when he saw it.
