Several hours passed in a flash. Bo Yizhou began to tidy up his desk, arranged the files neatly, and then got up to grab his clothes to wake Gu Wancheng, who was engrossed in watching a movie.
Gu Wancheng glanced at the computer screen reluctantly, then closed it, planning to look at it again tomorrow.
"Let's go pick up Chaochao."
The two walked out the door together, but this time they didn't see Li Xiao until they were out the door, and they couldn't see his eyes filled with emotions. Gu Wancheng felt a little regretful, which was rare for her.
After getting in the car Bo Yizhou asked out of curiosity, "What's wrong?"
Gu Wancheng shrugged. "Where's Special Assistant Li?"
Bo Yizhou frowned, his jealousy instantly flaring up. "Why are you asking him? He wasn't at the company this afternoon."
Gu Wancheng chuckled awkwardly, "It's just curiosity. We used to see him all the time after work, and his eyes are quite amusing."
Bo Yizhou chuckled. "What's the point of him leaving work early if he doesn't have a wife?"
Gu Wancheng was speechless, staring at him in shock, wondering what the hidden pride in his tone was.
When they arrived at the school gate, most of the students had already left. Chaochao stood at the gate, looking around anxiously.
Gu Wancheng got out of the car and walked towards him. Chaochao's eyes lit up instantly, and she ran towards him.
Chaochao pouted, looking unhappy, "Why are you so late?"
Gu Wancheng rubbed his head. "I'm sorry, Dad is late. Dad came with your father today."
Chaochao puffed out her cheeks. "Okay, I forgive you."
Chaochao completely ignored the last sentence, which amused Gu Wancheng. She wondered what Bo Yizhou had done to offend him this time.
Gu Wancheng placed her hand in front of him, took his hand, and walked to the side. Bo Yizhou was sitting in the car with his eyes closed, resting. Hearing the sound of the car door opening, he immediately opened his eyes and looked over.
"Father." Chaochao's voice was very soft; if the car hadn't been quiet, Bo Yizhou would have almost not heard it.
He nodded, in response to his comment.
Gu Wancheng smiled and said, "Your father has a surprise for you!"
Chaochao immediately looked up at Bo Yizhou, then looked away. "What's the surprise?"
Gu Wancheng held up one finger and shook her head. "It's a secret. I can't tell you now, but you'll find out soon enough."
Chaochao's eyes instantly dimmed, her face filled with disappointment. "Don't tell me next time if you can't say it right away. I don't want to hear it."
Gu Wancheng chuckled a few times and nodded in agreement.
Cars whizzed past, gradually slowing down as they entered the street. While waiting at a traffic light, Chaochao looked out the window and suddenly pointed to the roadside, exclaiming, "I want to eat jianbing guozi!"
Gu Wancheng caught the key phrase and hurriedly asked, "Where can I get a jianbing guozi?"
Chaochao pointed to the roadside, gesturing for him to look, "There's someone selling [something] by the roadside."
Gu Wancheng looked over and, sure enough, saw an uncle selling jianbing guozi (Chinese crepes). She immediately turned her attention to Bo Yizhou.
Bo Yizhou felt the gaze on him and helplessly indicated that parking was not allowed here. The light in Gu Wancheng's eyes snapped out. Bo Yizhou frowned and said to the driver, "Find a place to park nearby and go buy a jianbing guozi (Chinese crepe)."
The driver immediately replied, "Okay."
As Gu Wancheng was about to speak, Bo Yizhou looked at him and said, "One serving is enough; we still have dinner tonight."
Gu Wancheng had no choice but to shut her mouth indignantly. If she shared half of her jianbing guozi with Chaochao, he would only have half left, which was hardly enough for him.
Wait for the driver to find a parking spot, then get out of the car to buy a jianbing guozi (Chinese crepe).
" Chaochao, what homework do you have today?"
No homework.
Gu Wancheng raised an eyebrow and asked, "Really?"
Chaochao was speechless for a moment, only then realizing that she hadn't finished the homework they had assigned. Her mood instantly plummeted, and she slumped back like a coward, her whole body screaming "I have no will to live."
Gu Wancheng took the opportunity to pinch his cheek. She wondered how much longer she could pinch that little face; now, every pinch was one less opportunity she could have.
About ten minutes later, the driver returned with the jianbing guozi (Chinese crepe). One crepe had already been divided into two. Chaochao eagerly took it from him, saying, "Thank you, Uncle."
"Young master, you're too kind."
Chaochao placed the other portion on Gu Wancheng's lap and began to wolf it down, as if she hadn't eaten all day.
Gu Wancheng was much more elegant than him, taking a large bite slowly and chewing it carefully.
Half a jianbing guozi was quickly finished, making her already meager stomach even more upset, and Gu Wancheng became even hungrier.
Looking longingly at the distance still to go before getting home, I would have been starving long ago if I hadn't just eaten a little something.
Upon arriving home, Gu Wancheng instructed Butler Chen to prepare dinner.
After dinner, under Chaochao's expectant gaze, Gu Wancheng smiled slightly, "You'll know tomorrow."
Chaochao's expectant expression instantly vanished, her eyes widening. "Didn't you say we'd know soon?!"
Gu Wancheng patted his head, "Yes, but I didn't say a specific time."
Chaochao gritted her teeth, stomped her foot, glared at him, and turned to leave.
Gu Wancheng laughed without holding back, Chaochao paused for a moment before walking even faster.
Bo Yizhou wrapped his arms around his waist and led him towards the room. Gu Wancheng was caught off guard and stumbled, his laughter immediately fading away.
What are you doing?
"There's a saying that goes..." Bo Yizhou close to his ear, the last few words barely audible.
Gu Wancheng glanced at him and scoffed, "It's still early."
Bo Yizhou smiled slightly. "It's getting late."
Gu Wancheng squeezed his waist hard with her hand, let out a soft cry, and immediately stabbed him with her elbow without any mercy.
Bo Yizhou unfazed, as if he hadn't been the one who had just been dealt a heavy blow.
Back in the room, to prevent a certain brat from entering, Bo Yizhou locked the door from the inside, then pinned Gu Wancheng against it, pressing his knees against her legs.
Gu Wancheng, unusually, didn't blush. She raised her head and stared intently at him with her brown eyes. Her eyebrows curved, and she casually licked the corner of her lips with the tip of her tongue.
Bo Yizhou's eyes darkened, and he pinched Bo Yizhou's cheek with one hand, leaning down to press down on him.
The air in the room gradually became scorching, and faint sounds arose, occasionally mixed with the sound of water and weak, heavy breathing.
Half an hour later, Bo Yizhou picked up Gu Wancheng and carried her into the bathroom. He then turned on the shower, and the warm water poured over her. Gu Wancheng's back felt icy cold, but her body was surprisingly hot.
The next day, Gu Wancheng struggled to open her heavy eyelids, her whole body aching and weak. She glanced at the window, but her eyes stung from crying so much, so she quickly looked away.
Looking at the time, it was already midnight. Gu Wancheng found it difficult to even turn over, so she remained motionless on the bed.
He lay there for about half an hour, but the hunger in his stomach finally got the better of him, so he had to get up shakily. He couldn't control his stiff legs and could only move step by step toward the bathroom.
Looking at her slightly swollen eyes and disheveled body in the mirror, she silently harbored the image of Bo Yizhou in her mind.
