When the parent-child activity started, Gu Wancheng looked at the little one who had been smiling broadly for half an hour and was completely confused.
She nudged Bo Yizhou's arm and gave him a look.
Bo Yizhou followed his gaze and saw Chaochao with her head down, grinning foolishly. He glanced at the lit-up phone watch and understood.
He whispered to Gu Wancheng, "It's Suisui."
Suisui?
Goodness, so it was him who sent the message. No wonder he was laughing so silly. But he's not going to gossip right now.
Today's parent-child activity is making cookies.
Yeah, all he does is eat.
Then, remembering that Bo Yizhou had studied cooking, she wondered if he had learned to make cookies, so she asked, "Can you make them?"
"I know a little." Bo Yizhou nodded.
That's it then. But he doesn't believe he only knows a little bit. Is that how top students talk?
The classroom was large enough to do everything inside. Materials were laid out in front of each family. Those who knew how to do it smiled happily, while those who didn't had to search for tutorials on their phones in frustration.
Bo Yizhou looked at the ingredients in front of him: unsalted animal butter, milk, granulated sugar, salt, cake flour, and almond flour.
Melt the milk and sugar in a double boiler, then set aside to cool. The butter needs to be softened until there are no hard lumps; it should not be heated into a liquid.
Bo Yizhou picked up the electric mixer and handed it to Gu Wancheng, then placed the fully softened butter in front of him.
I took his hand and pressed a button on the electric mixer, showing him how to do it step by step, "Press this button, and beat it until it's smooth, white, and without any lumps."
"Good."
Then add the cooled milk and sugar syrup in batches, mixing well after each addition, and continue mixing until fluffy, smooth, and glossy.
Add the whipped butter to the sifted cake flour, almond flour, and salt (these two do not need to be sifted).
Mix well with a spatula, and the batter is ready.
The microwave oven has already started preheating.
Put the batter into a large piping bag fitted with a large cookie piping tip.
Once everything was set up, Gu Wancheng placed a few tissues on the stool, picked up Chaochao, and placed her on the stool.
" Chaochao, squeeze first." The prepared batter was handed to Chaochao.
It took both of Chaochao's hands to hold it. "Am I going first?"
"Yes, just squeeze the batter onto this." Gu Wancheng pointed to a non-stick baking tray that Bo Yizhou had just placed in front of her.
Chaochao carefully held the piping bag, clenching her teeth and squeezing it, using all her strength except for her hands.
Gu Wancheng sighed and rubbed her forehead, speechless. "It was the force of the hand."
Chaochao was taken aback for a moment, then squeezed the piping bag hard. The batter slowly squeezed out of the piping tip, and Chaochao's eyes immediately lit up. She said happily, "I squeezed it out!"
"Mmm, that's great, no need to squeeze it too big, it's enough."
Chaochao obediently stopped what she was doing, looked at the lone cookie on the non-stick baking sheet, and exclaimed excitedly, "I squeezed this out!"
"Uh-huh."
"I want to eat."
"Okay, we can eat it once it's baked," Gu Wancheng said.
Chaochao then started squeezing out the batter next to her, muttering softly as she did so, "One for Suisui, one for Dad, one for Father, one for Grandma, one for Grandpa, and one for An'an."
Gu Wancheng watched him with a smile from the side.
"You're third in line." Gu Wancheng raised an eyebrow at Bo Yizhou.
"You're second," Bo Yizhou replied.
Gu Wancheng puffed out her cheeks, watching her little one diligently squeezing out the batter. She could only say that he was indeed a little sycophant, putting his dad second, or rather, third, when making cookies.
Indignantly, Gu Wancheng reached out and poked its round little face.
Suddenly poked, Chaochao looked up blankly, tilting her head to look at Gu Wancheng with a puzzled expression.
"What's wrong?"
"It's okay, keep pushing."
"Oh."
After finally finishing piping out all the batter, Gu Wancheng glanced at the piping bag and saw that there was still some batter left. She figured she could squeeze out a few more, so she picked up the piping bag from the table, shoved the batter down hard, and piped out a few more cookies.
"Alright."
"Dad, what are you doing!" came An'an's voice breaking down from the side.
Gu Wancheng turned around and saw An'an standing with her hands on her hips, glaring angrily at the Guan Xuanhua.
On the table stood a torn piping bag.
" An'an, Daddy didn't mean it." Guan Xuanhua rubbed his hands together, looking embarrassed.
An'an was filled with frustration as victory seemed within reach, only to have it ruined by her incompetent teammate. She quickly pushed her disruptive father onto a stool.
"You sit here and don't move."
"Oh." Guan Xuanhua, with his huge body, carefully shrank on the stool, looking pitifully at An'an, trying to beg for forgiveness with his eyes.
An'an had her back to him and couldn't see his eyes at all. At that moment, she was filling a new piping bag with the batter again.
" An'an, I've finished making it. We can bake it together later." Chaochao walked over and watched An'an's movements. Although An'an was also holding a piping bag with both hands, her movements were much more skilled than Chaochao's, showing that she had done it at home before.
"Okay, wait for me, I'll be right there." An'an nodded immediately and sped up.
" An'an, your dad is watching you," Chaochao said softly, glancing quickly behind her.
"Never mind him, he's a bit slow, I'm the only one who can take care of him," An'an said without looking up.
"Oh, so your mother left because your father is stupid?" Chaochao suddenly thought of something and asked.
"No way! Things change, and she used to ignore us, but now I'll make her regret it!" An'an squeezed the last bit of batter out and slammed the piping bag onto the table, her eyes resolute.
"Wow, An'an, you're so amazing!" Chaochao exclaimed with admiration; he himself would never say such things.
"Of course, I'm an expert in 108 ways to slap someone in the face." An'an tilted her head back, proud and self-satisfied.
"Alright, you two little darlings, let's start baking cookies." Gu Wancheng walked over and interrupted them.
Several restaurants have already finished baking them; they plan to put them in one oven.
"Okay, Uncle Gu." An'an nodded and picked up the non-stick baking tray to head to the oven.
"Wait, Dad's here." Guan Xuanhua quickly took the baking tray from her hands.
An'an looked at him distrustfully, Guan Xuanhua was furious. Was he really that unreliable? He had already said it was just an accident, that he had accidentally used too much force. Who told that piping bag to break so easily?
"Okay, then you have to be careful." In the end, An'an decided to let the Guan Xuanhua remain.
The Guan Xuanhua him twitch at the corner of his mouth, genuinely wondering where his daughter got that impression of him from.
While waiting for the cookies to bake, Gu Wancheng found Chaochao's homework and drawings in the drawer of the table.
There was also a calligraphy practice sheet, with each stroke carefully written. It was clear that Chaochao was writing very seriously at the time, but because children's hands are soft, some strokes looked very rounded.
"I drew this a few days ago. This is Dad, this is me, and this is Father." When Chaochao saw him take out the painting, she quickly squeezed between them and introduced it.
" Chaochao is really great." Gu Wancheng praised her sincerely.
Chaochao turned to look at Bo Yizhou, her eyes filled with anticipation.
Bo Yizhou nodded and praised, "It's very well drawn."
Chaochao's face lit up instantly, and she took out another piece of white paper and started doodling.
Gu Wancheng propped herself up on her hands and looked at him.
