Background / History

Childhood and disputed parentage

Raised by the Qin Family as Qin Feibai, Luo Bai spent fifteen years believing he was their biological child. When the Luo Family claimed him as their son, he changed his name to Luo Bai and moved into their household. Luo Beishi was identified as the Qin Family’s biological son 13.

Although the Qin Family had substantial wealth, Luo Bai regarded them as an insignificant household. He resented their apparent inability to support him financially and later rejected invitations to visit them 13 25 76.

His supposed return to his birth family was itself based on false parentage: he was ultimately revealed to be Liu Fang and Xu Qing’s son, not Luo Ming’s 135.

Campaign against Luo Beishi

Luo Bai repeatedly created situations in which Luo Beishi appeared cruel or violent. His apparent willingness to forgive Beishi encouraged relatives and acquaintances to blame Beishi without investigating. Qin Lei eventually recognized that Luo Bai’s tearful concessions had helped make Beishi seem unreasonable and overbearing 18.

Among these incidents, Luo Bai pushed Beishi into a swimming pool before jumping in himself to frame him. Liu Fang witnessed the deception. On another occasion, after suffering an allergic reaction to walnut cake, Luo Bai implied that Beishi had deliberately given it to him; Sheng Hao subsequently abandoned his friendship with Beishi 77 134.

Luo Bai also interfered with Beishi’s relationship with Qin Feiyue. He stole and spent money from a card Feiyue had given Beishi, and knocked Beishi’s phone into a swimming pool shortly after Feiyue provided his contact number 114 116.

An investigation later established Luo Bai’s role in the campaign against Qin Feiyue. By presenting himself as an abused, helpless youth to record-company executives, he persuaded them that Feiyue was a villain. The executives then manufactured evidence and helped spread scandals against him 131 132.

Public exposure at university

After Beishi’s marriage to Huo Cixiao, Luo Bai continued trying to provoke him. In a university corridor, he staged a backward fall while nearby students accused Beishi of pushing him. Beishi had the surveillance cameras redirected toward them and proposed calling the police, forcing Luo Bai to admit that he had fallen by himself 11.

The student who had defended Luo Bai realized that he had allowed her to make accusations while keeping himself uninvolved. She withdrew her support and apologized to Beishi; other students became reluctant to help Luo Bai for fear of being framed themselves 12.

His online attacks also became costly. After learning that serious false accusations could lead to imprisonment, he deleted a post for which he had spent more than five million hiring paid commenters 28. Later, a student called the police to investigate his claims of abuse, leaving him at a police station where Qin Feilin and Qu Wanying came to meet him 39.

Attempts to rescue the Luo Corporation

With the Luo Corporation in financial trouble, Luo Bai sought help through wealthy admirers and his adoptive family. He asked Huo Cifeng for approximately ten billion and appealed to Qu Wanying to persuade Beishi to stop harming the Luo Family 8 25.

Song Yachao’s return offered another source of support. After he promised to help, the Luo Corporation announced that it had paid its taxes and fines and obtained foreign capital. However, photographs of Luo Bai’s intimacy with Song reached Huo Cifeng, who concluded that Luo Bai had treated him as a backup and ordered his entire forty-percent stake in the company sold at falling prices 49 51.

The rescue unraveled. President Song had Luo Bai expelled from the Song residence, Song Yachao was sent to City C, Shen Dong remained confined at home, and Huo Cifeng abandoned him 51 54.

Meanwhile, Luo Bai’s university performance deteriorated: he failed five midterm subjects 58. His real-name accusation that Beishi possessed potentially illegal wealth also failed when police confirmed that Beishi’s domestic assets were lawful gifts from the Huo Family 76.

Failed pursuit of Huo Cixiao

Luo Bai regretted not pursuing Huo Cixiao earlier. System 250 encouraged him by promising rewards several times greater than those available for winning over other targets 101.

After failing to gain Sheng Hao’s support, Luo Bai spent ten affection points on an invitation to the Parasol Tree Hall auction. He was nevertheless thrown out of the event 101 102.

Outside the auction, he exchanged for a single-use evasion card and slipped past the bodyguards. Before he could seize Huo Cixiao’s sleeve, Huo kicked him to the ground. The incident prompted Beishi to ask Tongtong whether Luo Bai possessed a system; Tongtong detected a weak, unfamiliar energy source on him 102.

Disownment and loss of the Qin Family

The Qin Family’s public acknowledgment of Beishi as their biological son enraged Luo Bai, particularly because it exposed the wealth and standing of the family he had dismissed 111.

His own position collapsed when paternity testing proved that he was not Luo Ming’s son. Luo Ming ordered his removal from the household register, revised his will, and instructed his staff to clear the outsiders from his home. Younger Luo relatives then beat Luo Bai, leaving him with multiple fractures 134 135.

Luo Bai hoped his injuries would persuade Qin Feilin to take him back. Instead, Feilin confronted him over his manipulation and rejected his attempt to seduce him. Dropping his pitiful demeanor, Luo Bai admitted that he had engineered the conflicts with Beishi in the Qin household, while arguing that Beishi’s blood relatives were more culpable for believing him and neglecting their own son 135 136.

To avoid a lawsuit, Luo Bai subsequently agreed to return two hundred million 137.

Xu Qing’s deception and attempted modeling career

After System 250 identified Xu Qing as his biological father, Luo Bai welcomed him into his apartment. Xu Qing claimed to have returned from overseas, concealing his recent release from prison 135 137.

Luo Bai refused to use his connections to secure Liu Fang’s release and considered suing her 145. With his savings nearly exhausted, he accepted Xu Qing’s offer to arrange a modeling interview, believing that his father was helping him start again 159.

The training company was a scam. Luo Bai paid two hundred thousand in tuition while hired students attended classes around him. Praise from the supposed teacher convinced him that he was unusually talented 175.

After Luo Bai attacked Liu Yang, A She retaliated by beating him at home. Hospitalized with facial injuries and a foot in a cast, Luo Bai feared that involving the police would expose his own attack 185.

Abandonment and psychiatric confinement

Xu Qing persuaded Luo Bai to provide money for a supposed overseas company emergency before leaving. Luo Bai later discovered that the contracts were fake and that Xu Qing had recently been released from prison. Qin Feilin and his other lovers blocked him, while System 250 stopped responding and abandoned him 192.

In hospital, Luo Bai repeatedly called for 250, proclaimed himself the protagonist of a novel, threatened others, and went to the window to “receive signals” from his system. Following observation, psychiatrists diagnosed him with mental illness. Unable to contact his relatives, the hospital transferred him to a psychiatric institution 192.

There he encountered Qu Wanying, also a patient, and fled from her. On his first night, rage at a roommate who demanded money escalated into an urge to kill. Orderlies restrained him and locked him in a separate room 192 193.

Appearance

Luo Bai has fair skin, an innocent-looking face, and babyish features. His delicate appearance makes him seem vulnerable, particularly to people already inclined to protect him 3 23.

  • Pale complexion: His face and lips are described as extremely pale during his visit to the Qin residence 25.
  • White clothing: He arrives at the Qin home dressed entirely in white and changes into white bunny slippers 25.
  • Frail presentation: He adopts weak steps, breathlessness, chest-clutching, and reddened eyes when seeking sympathy 11 23 25.

Personality

Luo Bai cultivates a gentle, forgiving public persona while privately resenting anyone who threatens his position. He expects to be the center of affection and becomes jealous when Qu Wanying pays attention to Beishi, thinking that his adoptive parents’ attention should belong only to him 24 25.

He treats relationships as resources. He initially reserves his connection with Song Yachao for future use, then draws on it when the Luo Corporation’s situation becomes desperate. His contempt for the Qin Family coexists with his willingness to seek their protection and money 25 49 135.

He frequently blames Beishi for setbacks caused by his own conduct or by other people. His jealousy becomes explicitly violent when he imagines disfiguring Beishi to regain everyone’s attention 47 51.

When sympathy no longer works, his demeanor changes sharply. During his confrontation with Qin Feilin, he openly acknowledges his deception and mocks the Qin Family for having been so easily manipulated 136.
