Background / History

Childhood and the Huo Family

Huo Cixiao is the son of Huo Cheng and Pei Leilei. At five years old, he discovered his mother dead in a bathtub during a thunderstorm. When he heard approaching footsteps, he hid beneath the adjoining washroom’s sink rather than call for help. Evidence at the scene was subsequently removed, preventing the Pei Family from establishing what had happened 189.

Huo Cheng married Lin Lan seven days after Pei Leilei’s death. Growing up, Huo Cixiao was repeatedly blamed for Huo Cifeng’s misconduct: on one occasion, Huo Cifeng deliberately fell into a swimming pool, and their father immediately berated Huo Cixiao. Huo Cixiao remembered his grandfather remaining silent rather than defending him 31 54.

His childhood also included poisoning attempts, assassination attempts, and other schemes. Despite these threats, he eventually took control of Huo Corporation, supported in part by his maternal family. Under his leadership, the company reached new heights within a few years 92 125 145.

Accident and Substitute Marriage

A car accident left Huo Cixiao in a vegetative state for over a year. Huo Cifeng’s private thoughts identify his involvement in the attack and his intention to kill Huo Cixiao eventually 90 122.

Old Master Huo arranged a marriage intended to bring Huo Cixiao good fortune, with Luo Beishi becoming the substitute bride. Huo Cixiao had not consented to the marriage and initially knew little about his new spouse 2 5 90.

Although unable to respond, Huo Cixiao became aware of Luo Beishi’s voice and daily care. He later admitted that he had been conscious since Luo Beishi first moved in. Luo Beishi’s patience, companionship, and fierce defense gradually changed his distrust into attachment 5 7 19 54 189.

Recovery

Preservation of Huo Corporation

During his incapacity, Huo Cixiao remained the person in power at Huo Corporation. His right-hand men, CEO Ling Kai and vice president Lei Long, handled current business. His controlling stake prevented the family’s rival branches from simply removing them 15.

Awakening and Public Marriage

Before openly waking, Huo Cixiao acknowledged that he had fallen for Luo Beishi and decided against divorce. After awakening, he deliberately concealed how much he already knew, asking Luo Beishi to explain the situation rather than revealing his long-standing awareness 86 90.

His return immediately alarmed the Huo relatives implicated in plots against him. He had their movements monitored, and several were detained at the airport while attempting to leave the country. He and Luo Beishi then appeared hand in hand at a press conference; their public affection helped drive Huo Corporation’s stock to its daily limit 95 96.

The marriage developed beyond Luo Beishi’s initial performance of devotion. Huo Cixiao openly courted him through gifts, physical affection, and everyday care, while Luo Beishi gradually stopped wanting a divorce. Their hot-spring trip marked a further step in their intimacy 97 102 119 152.

Investigations and His Mother’s Murder

Huo Cixiao worked with Luo Beishi on several investigations. During Huo Corporation’s aquarium crisis, the company submitted Luo Beishi’s evidence to the police and cleared its name. Huo Cixiao also arranged the paternity test that confirmed Wu You’an was Huo Cheng’s son and forwarded Wu You’an’s location to the police after he disappeared 163.

A recovered recording eventually exposed Huo Cheng and Lin Lan’s role in Pei Leilei’s murder. Huo Cixiao and Luo Beishi handed it to the authorities, leading to Huo Cheng’s arrest. Afterward, Luo Beishi disclosed his use of the Villain System, while Huo Cixiao confessed that he had been conscious throughout their early married life 189.

After Luo Beishi completed his final mission and the system departed, Huo Cixiao comforted him. Their later life included attending Lan Li and Yaya’s wedding and spending Mid-Autumn Festival with family 198.

Personality

Huo Cixiao has a cold public reputation and little patience for people he considers unworthy of his attention. His associates call him a “demon king,” and his childhood retaliation against bullies left lasting fear in elite social circles. One account describes him repeatedly submerging a tormentor’s head in a pool, allowing the boy to breathe only before repeating it 92 96 98.

His internal reactions are considerably less impassive. While bedridden, he sulks over his grandfather’s absence, becomes flustered by Luo Beishi’s teasing, and repeatedly insists that he cannot possibly fall in love. He also consistently mistakes Luo Beishi’s practical decisions or casual habits for evidence of overwhelming devotion—or waning affection 16 26 63 75.

With Luo Beishi, he is patient, attentive, and openly affectionate. He worries about overburdening him, supports his decisions, and becomes distressed when he is ill. Luo Beishi finds that the supposedly volatile villain is restrained and considerate in their daily life 44 119 145 183.

His tenderness coexists with strong possessiveness. He wants Luo Beishi’s attention to remain on him and reacts coldly even when a subordinate merely glances at his husband. Nevertheless, he is initially inexperienced in romance and relies on improvised flirting, reading material, and information supplied by Special Assistant Wen 104 106 152.
