Dobby's arrival somewhat made up for the disappointment of the Gryffindor members who didn't have House-elf; they finally experienced the joy of having extra meals whenever they wanted.
Percy was very unhappy about this, saying that Gryffindor had become unruly since Dobby arrived.
But when Dobby first came, he made it clear that he had received Dumbledore's permission to protect the Gryffindor students from Sirius's attack, so Percy didn't dare say anything more.
Hermione was very curious, as it was the first time she had lived under the same roof as House-elf.
" Dobby, can you tell me if you, as an intelligent race, ever experience unequal treatment in the wizarding world?"
"No, Dobby is perfectly content." Dobby was always extremely respectful towards Harry's friends.
Hermione jotted down notes quickly, then continued, "Are House-elf ' rights protected by law? Do they consider wizards superior to them?"
"No, Dobby is a free House-elf, he has no employer-employee relationship with wizards, we are equals—who called me? Coming, do you need a glass of water?"
Compared to Hermione's theoretical research, Dobby preferred serving young wizards.
" Ron!" Hermione huffed. "Why don't you just pour yourself a glass of water? Do I have to do even this Dobby you? It's not your slave."
Ron took the glass of water, took a small sip, and shrugged, saying, "But it seems very happy to me."
Dobby stood ramrod straight in front of Ron, seemingly waiting to take the water glass Ron had finished drinking from.
" Dobby is undoubtedly free, but he's also Dobby a House-elf. We love serving wizards," Dobby said confidently. " Lorne told Dobby that Dobby job is at the Magic Mobile Phone Shop, and serving wizards in his spare time is just Dobby hobby. But for a hobby, no amount of effort is too much."
In fact, the impact of Dobby's arrival dissipated in just a few days, because Dobby wasn't always in the Gryffindor Common Room, and most of the time no one knew where he was.
Some students only think of Dobby when they are extremely hungry. At that time, all they need to do is stand in front of the fireplace and shout Dobby's name, and Dobby will always appear behind them right on time.
It's another Defence Against Dark Magic Class.
But this time, the lecturer wasn't Professor Lupin. Harry turned to look at Professor Snape, who moved with the speed of the wind. It seemed as if a shadow followed his cloak, and his smile vanished wherever he went. When he stepped onto the podium, a small dark cloud seemed to hang over the heads of all the Gryffindor students.
Professor Snape's lips curled into a mysterious and amused smile as he rested his elbow on the desk. "Your Professor Lupin had something to do, so I took over his class for a while. But unfortunately, he was careless and irresponsible; he didn't even leave a trace. I have no idea where he left off—"
"I just learned Grindylow, Professor," Hermione answered, raising her hand.
Snape glanced sideways at Hermione with his hawk-like eyes, ignoring her, and continued, "This shows he lacks organization. I really don't know how he became a professor. Now, open your books. Today we'll learn—"
Snape drew out the last syllable, leaning forward and tapping his fingers heavily on the table twice. " Werewolf."
Hermione frowned. "But Professor, according to the schedule, we should be learning Hinkypunk— "
" Miss Granger, would you like to come up and speak?" Professor Snape called out curtly, announcing as everyone Quiet, " Gryffindor, five points deducted."
"Now, can anyone tell me the difference between Werewolf and a wolf?"
Snape glanced around; only Hermione had her hand raised.
A twisted smile spread across his face, "You don't even know this? Like teacher, like student. Professor Lupin doesn't even know the most basic—"
"Professor, the primary difference between Werewolf and wolves lies in their mouths and noses—"
"Stop!" Snape shouted urgently, " Miss Granger, this is the second time you've interrupted me. Gryffindor's honor."
Hermione had never felt so defeated. She clutched the corner of the book helplessly, her face flushed red.
Ron couldn't stand it anymore and retorted, "You asked a question and then didn't allow an answer. I suggest next time you just skip the question-and-answer session and deduct points from our score directly."
"Very well, Mr. Weasley, your recklessness has earned you three days of confinement. I'd love to see you answering Potions Class questions while picking toad brains out of your hands."
Ron shrank back and shut his mouth. He could stand up for his friends, but he wouldn't dare disobey the professor for his own sake.
Professor Snape gave everyone a resentful sidelong glance before ending the pleasant pre-class activity.
He opened the textbook and explained, " Werewolf are no different from ordinary people on ordinary days, but their bodies transform into wolves on the night of a full moon—oh, I forgot to tell you, yesterday was the night of a full moon. I suppose there's some Werewolf in this world who's afraid of being exposed, so they've hidden themselves away from their work."
Lupin left the Shrieking Shack weakly, and couldn't help but sneeze as soon as he stepped outside. He looked up at the fairly clear sky above, thinking it was probably due to too much dust.
No one would ever talk about him—except for Sirius, he couldn't think of anyone else who would.
How wonderful! I got a decent job at Hogwarts and learned that my best friend wasn't a criminal, so I didn't have to choose between friendship and justice.
Lupin shook his head and chuckled, feeling that there was hope for everything.
" Remus, you're here after all," Sirius's voice suddenly came from behind. Lupin turned around gracefully and saw Sirius forcefully shoving a broom into his arms. "Go to the post office in Hogsmeade and mail this broom to Harry, no need to sign it."
Lupin: "I thought you had something important to do..."
"Something big has happened," Sirius said, Marauder's Map? It's in the hands of some Gryffindor student. You need to get that thing back; it can see me and is hindering my activities at Hogwarts."
Lupin asked doubtfully, "Then why don't you just not go to Hogwarts?"
Sirius rolled his eyes. "Why didn't you stay in the Shrieking Shack for a couple of months? It's covered in dust. The wooden bed we got for you back then is covered in cobwebs. When I first came here, I didn't have a wand, so I had to clean it by hand a lot."
Then, in an unquestionable tone, he commanded, "We must get our hands on the Marauder's Map, otherwise Peter Pettigrew will be discovered by the students, and I'm worried they'll let him escape."
Lupin said helplessly, "Alright, I'll give it a try."
