This was the first time Lorne had truly experienced what it meant to get luckier the harder you work.
Recruiting, holding meetings, updating old games, brainstorming new games... Lorne was busy until midnight. He stretched his neck and refreshed the rare item inventory with the cracking sound of his bones.
It is a book.
The Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is unremarkable, but at the end of the title, it adds a suffix about the latest discovery of Fantastic Beasts.
Lorne, who was struggling with how to update the Suitcase Beasts, immediately had an idea, and even some ideas outside the game came to mind.
Setting up the Suitcase Beasts area in the theme park was always his biggest headache. Since Fantastic Beasts actually exist in the real world, standees and models wouldn't be as appealing as live animals, and the ordinary Fantastic Beasts Lorne could find wouldn't attract much interest. His initial idea was to create a zoo-like themed area where wizards could interact with some of the Fantastic Beasts from the game, or to build scenes and train characters based on game content.
The idea was good, but he couldn't do it. Where could he get an endangered Nundu? Even A Niffler would stump it. If only he had a few dozen more Race Certification, he would definitely open a zoo of Fantastic Beasts.
Just because he can't do it doesn't mean others can't.
Newt Scamander, the legendary figure who has spent his entire life dealing with Fantastic Beasts, is comparable to Professor Oak from Pokémon in the realm of Fantastic Beasts.
If he could become his employee, or even just be willing to help him, Lorne wouldn't even need to build the venue anymore. He could simply bring his suitcase, and the Fantastic Beasts themed area would be mostly complete.
With this book about Newt's future works, Lorne began to feel confident in winning Newt over.
Those are new Fantastic Beasts, he couldn't believe Newt wasn't interested.
Lorne excitedly opened the book; the first page, arranged in reverse order, contained Newt's latest discovery in 2027.
" Stone Leech are soft-bodied creatures that grow in ancient stones. They are slender, dark gray with silver stripes, and their bodies blend into the stone, appearing as patterns within the stone when still. They were first discovered in the ancient stones of Hogwarts after the deciphering of Ancient Magic. It is said that they are related to architectural magic in Ancient Magic. It is because of the Stone Leech ' ability to restore and preserve the stone's memory that Hogwarts has been able to stand for thousands of years."
Lorne then looked down and saw that the other Fantastic Beasts had been discovered much earlier, some even only three or four years before this year.
" The Death-Life Worm, a parasite unique to wizards, absorbs people's understanding of death and prevents them from engaging in thorough reflection. Only those who have truly attained a profound understanding of death can see it. The Death-Life Worm was first discovered by Luna Lovegood, who invented the Spectrespecs, allowing wizards to see blurry light and shadow. The Death-Life Worm was officially discovered and named after the related viewing spell appeared."
" The Crumple-Horned Snorkack a cave-dwelling creature that produces a snoring sound when it breathes, with air flowing through its horn above its nose. It was first discovered in Northern Europe, appears only in the summer, and hibernates. Its cave was found in murals from the Giant Tribe, and only two are known to exist."
" The Silver Fox, first discovered in Dorset, United Kingdom, is extremely adept at concealing its magic, and is therefore often mistaken by wizards for an ordinary animal. It only releases its magic when it encounters real danger or someone it truly trusts. During a full moon, its body emits a faint light, and plants it touches and footprints it leaves behind also glow."
"..."
Lorne was also very interested in these novel creatures. He kept reading until the introduction of the Fantastic Beasts changed from "new" to detailed popular science about existing Fantastic Beasts, and then he reluctantly closed the book.
Dorset... isn't that where Newt lives now? It seems Newt hasn't given up on protecting and researching Fantastic Beasts; he must have discovered clues about new Fantastic Beasts by living there.
Now that I have mastered the improved version of the Apparition Charm, with ample magic power and the help of Muggle plane, a round trip to Northern Europe should only take a few days. Not only are there Crumple-Horned Snorkack there, but it is also the main stronghold of the Giant tribe.
There was no rush. Lorne decided to prioritize updating the three existing games. He immediately contacted Sains, Quirrell, and Firenze.
Sains has recently become obsessed with software development, and his sleep schedule has completely fallen apart. Sometimes, when Lorne goes to the bathroom before bed, he catches Sains cooking noodles for himself, which he says is his breakfast. As the conscientious owner of the Magic Mobile Phone Shop, Lorne naturally can't let Sains ruin his health, so he offers to take him along in updating the software, letting him learn by doing.
Sains was deeply grateful, but he soon discovered that what he called "learning by doing" was actually just criticizing what he did at school, especially the occasional sarcastic and sarcastic remarks from Boss Lorne, which made him miserable.
"If Firenze saw that his drawings of Fantastic Beasts had been turned into a bizarre mess by your import operation, he'd definitely wonder where else besides the eyes his extra hooves could kick you?" Lorne's lips tightened into a line. "Instead of making players spend money, you could completely balance the wealth gap in wizarding society and collect a portion of the revenue as a commission."
"Isn't that robbery?" Quirrell said, enjoying the spectacle.
However, the pressure from Lorne did indeed drive Sains's rapid progress. After Lorne completed the updates for the other two games, he was fully capable of handling the import of new Fantastic Beasts models into the Suitcase Beasts game.
Lorne called Sains over, "Look, like me, when you want to import something, you don't need to worry about the background on the Firenze image. Just select the general outline, import it first, and then do the fine-tuning. This will save a lot of time..."
While learning Lorne's techniques, Sains also subtly picked up many memorable quotes.
It wasn't just Sains; during their time at the Magic Mobile Phone Shop, all the employees' language systems underwent updates, some more significant than others. For example, Quirrell would occasionally say "align granularity," Augusta would say "complete closed loop" when reporting. The most problematic one was Sirius. He spent a lot of time in his dog form squatting in the General Affairs Office last semester, and coupled with his recent departure from Azkaban and his addiction to Magic Mobile Phone, his language system became completely disordered.
" Remus, do you have a clear idea of who will take over your job next season?"
Lupin: "..."
"You mean I know who will be taking over as the Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor next semester?"
"Yes, yes, that's the idea—oh no, the next class is about to start, and I haven't finished my meal yet!"
"That's called the next class!"
