Wood patted him on the shoulder and said, "You're welcome. I look forward to your performance. I'll come back to remind you on Friday. I won't disturb your meal any longer."
After saying that, he turned around and walked towards his designated spot.
Draco watched his retreating figure and politely said, "Take care, Captain."
The conversation, which lasted only a few minutes, had barely ended when the entire table erupted in chaos.
The excitement was even greater than when the class was stunned in class earlier; everyone was so excited they wanted to jump off the bench.
Neville, in his idiot state, shouted, " Draco's awesome!"
Draco smiled helplessly; it seemed like this kid only knew this one flattering phrase over and over again.
Lavender's reaction was much more exaggerated; she gasped sharply.
The next second he abruptly turned to Parvati, his voice trembling:
" Merlin's beard! Parvati, did you hear that? A first-year Seeker! That's so romantic!"
"This must be fate! You must have been a hero in your past life!"
Draco couldn't help but laugh, "You're wrong. In my past life, I was an ox or a horse; this life is just a tiny bit more awesome."
"This is absolutely the biggest news at Hogwarts this year! Congratulations! With a genius like you, Gryffindor definitely has a good chance this year!" Parvati exclaimed in amazement.
"Not necessarily. Academic success doesn't guarantee you'll be good at Quidditch." Draco didn't offer much expectation.
Hannah immediately laughed and exposed her, "Starting to be modest again, aren't you? Could Professor McGonagall's judgment be wrong?"
Susan nodded repeatedly from the side, "That's right, that's right, don't be modest!"
Ron, standing to the side, had an extremely complicated expression.
First came shock, then a fleeting, barely concealed envy.
This was immediately replaced by an intense, proud excitement:
"That's awesome! How did you do that? Did Professor McGonagall replace your Nimbus 2000 with a Nimbus 2000?"
He whirled around Harry, his voice practically booming, "Hey Harry! Did you hear that? We've got a Seeker in our dorm!"
After his initial excitement subsided, he added quietly and dejectedly, "... I really hope I can do it too."
Harry blinked and blurted out with a sincere expression, "What is Quidditch?"
In an instant, the high spirits at the table were doused with cold water, extinguishing most of them.
Ron collapsed, clutching his head in despair. " Merlin's beard, Harry! You don't know Quidditch? It's the hottest sport in the entire Wizarding World!"
Hermione glanced at him indifferently and said incisively:
"What's the big deal? We were born into Muggle families, so we don't know. Can you rattle off all the rules of the Muggle Premier League right off the bat?"
Ron choked, then quickly waved his hand apologetically, "Oh... I'm so sorry, I forgot about that, but Quidditch is really famous, there's not a single wizard who doesn't know it."
"Wow, you're something else! You stunned the whole class in the morning, and then got chosen by the Quidditch captain in the afternoon. Your life is more exciting than the main character's."
After everyone finished getting excited, Olivia finally had a chance to chime in.
Draco, chewing on his spoon, suddenly looked up and stared at everyone with a serious expression, saying, "Actually... I'm the main character, do you believe me?"
The group of people at the table froze instantly, exchanging bewildered glances, and the air fell silent for half a second.
Hermione was the first to react, giving him a helpless glare. "Here we go again, all cocky."
Draco turned his head, his gaze fixed on her face, and said softly, "Isn't this better? I'm the protagonist, and you're the heroine."
"Oh!" A burst of laughter immediately erupted around them.
After talking for a while, no one explained Quidditch to Harry, so Hermione had to explain it to Harry.
Harry then understood what Quidditch was all about!
The surrounding students naturally overheard the discussion.
Whether you're in a higher or lower grade, everyone knows that Draco and his group make headlines every day.
They've been following this year's course closely, and today they're all ready to dig into the Dark Magic Defence Class.
Unexpectedly, this led to explosive news about a first-year Quidditch Seeker.
The Great Hall instantly erupted into chaos again.
Many quiet, older students finished their meals silently and left.
The shocking events of these three days are more than all previous years combined, it's truly outrageous, and it's all because of that man— Draco Malfoy.
Very few people are discussing Harry now; they're mostly just following Draco's lead.
This news is comparable to yesterday's, but there's no need to ask too many questions, because the news is that simple, yet just as shocking.
Just then, a gentle, clear voice came from the side. "It's so lively! Looks like we've come at the right time."
Everyone turned around and saw Cho Chang and her friend Emock, who walked over with trays of food and smiles, just like usual.
Lavender's eyes lit up, and he immediately seized the opportunity to add fuel to the fire, pointing at Draco and Hermione and shouting loudly:
"No, no, no, you've come at the perfect time! They're just discussing the Quidditch Seeker and the main characters' sweet romance. You'd be missing out if you didn't!"
Hermione hurriedly reached out to Lavender's arm:
" Lavender! Don't shout nonsense—there's no love story at all, it's all his rubbish. And you two, don't join in the commotion!"
Cho Chang and Emock sat down in the empty seats. She put down her plate and began to speak with a smile:
"I'm not going to join in the commotion; after all, my target is Draco."
"Um?"
"Um?"
Several surprised and doubtful voices rang out almost simultaneously, and the entire long table fell silent instantly.
Everyone turned to look at them with a mixture of confusion and shock, even the students who were secretly watching from afar stopped in their tracks.
Draco was taken aback at first, then couldn't help but chuckle softly, his eyes filled with a helpless smile.
Hermione was startled, and the next second she immediately looked up at Cho Chang, her usually bright eyes revealing hostility.
Seeing her nervous expression, Cho Chang quickly waved his hands and said, "Relax, relax, I was just kidding!"
Lavender immediately leaned forward, shaking his head with a gossipy look on his face. "No, no, no, I think you're absolutely serious. Eyes don't lie!"
Parvati chimed in, "I also want to see a fight over the male lead; it'll definitely be more exciting than Charms!"
Hermione was both angry and embarrassed, her cheeks flushed red. She glared at the two of them and said urgently, "You two... if you say another word, I'll break off all ties with you!"
Seeing this, Draco immediately reached out and gently pressed Hermione's hand to calm her down, then looked at the crowd and said:
"Stop joking, it's useless. In my eyes, there has only ever been Hermione as the leading lady, and no one can replace her."
A burst of noise and commotion immediately erupted at the table.
But these noises were quickly drowned out by the overwhelming discussion that filled the Great Hall.
The same message is being spread everywhere--
Draco Malfoy, a freshman, was personally selected by Wood to try out for the Gryffindor Quidditch Team as the Seeker.
This event was so sensational that it almost overshadowed all the playful antics of the small cliques in the Great Hall.
