But Selene had no choice; these three were so powerful that even Lucian, the Werewolf leader, feared them. The bigger picture was at stake.
To stay, she chose to endure it, though she was still cursing Draco's arrogance and rudeness in her heart. Selene gave everyone present a cold glance and went into the kitchen to get water.
After Selene left, Michael was a little lost. Draco comforted him, saying, "Don't be nervous, because it won't help. You can't escape our grasp anyway."
Upon hearing this, Michael shrank back to the right, creating distance between himself and Draco, his voice trembling, "You... you're scaring me..."
"Why are you trying to scare me? We just want to borrow something from you." Trillian continued to scare Draco, picking up where he left off.
"What is that?" Michael's heart skipped a beat.
Suddenly, Trillian bared her teeth, revealing a deliberately ferocious expression, and lowered her voice, giving it a sinister tone:
"Just a little bit of blood will do, three drops for the three of us—your blood smells wonderful, unlike ordinary blood..."
Michael's face turned pale instantly. He sprang up from the sofa and hid behind the armrest, only half his head showing. His voice trembled as he said, "No, no way... We just ran into Werewolf, and now we've run into vampires..."
Trillian laughed even harder, and said with a straight face, " Werewolf eat people, while we vampires only want a little bit of your blood. That's merciful enough, isn't it?"
Michael's voice came from behind the sofa, tinged with a desperate despair. "This is a bottomless pit! You want a little today, a little tomorrow, and the day after—"
Michael felt a sense of despair and shook his head in resistance. "What do you mean, 'little bit'! This is a bottomless pit! A little bit today, a little bit tomorrow, I'll be drained dry sooner or later."
Hermione was speechless and interrupted the farce impatiently, "Don't listen to their threats. What are we going to do to you?"
Michael breathed a sigh of relief, "That's good... I also thought you didn't seem like real vampires..."
"Like Selene?" Trillian replied with a half-smile.
"Yes!" Michael blurted out, but immediately realized his mistake and quickly waved his hand, correcting himself, "No, no! She's just... just has fair skin!"
Trillian just smiled meaningfully, thinking to herself: Young man, I didn't expect your sixth sense to be so accurate.
"You two are really something," Hermione interrupted the somewhat absurd conversation with exasperation, "I've forgotten what I was going to ask."
"It's nothing, I forgot too." Draco shrugged nonchalantly. "We can just ask Lucian."
Will he tell us?
Draco gave a calm smile, "It doesn't matter. We have the hostage; he'll have to talk whether he wants to or not."
Just then, Selene came out of the kitchen carrying a kettle of water. She placed the kettle on the coffee table and asked, "You were just talking about Lucian? Was that Werewolf really Lucian?"
Trillian was assertive, directly retorting, "Is it your turn to ask questions? Hurry up and come pour us some water."
Being ordered around like this, Selene's face was covered with a cold gloom. As a top Death Dealers of the vampires, when had she ever been ordered around so casually? Not even Kraven could do that.
Fortunately, vampires have fair skin, so even if their complexion is gloomy, it only makes their skin look even colder, obscuring their emotions.
Selene ignored Trillian's provocation and instead turned her gaze to Michael, who was curled up in the corner of the sofa, and asked:
What are you doing?
Trillian beat Michael to it.
She said with a smile, "He thinks you look too much like a vampire, and he's getting nervous, so he's hiding behind the sofa for safety."
"No, no." Michael quickly waved his hands in denial. To cover his embarrassment, he hurriedly walked around the sofa and sat down. Now he was convinced Kate Draco and the other two were just teasing him.
Selene did not press the matter further.
She had overheard most of the conversation in the living room while she was boiling water in the kitchen, so she naturally knew what had happened.
Draco picked up the pot of water from the coffee table. "You didn't bring any cups? Are you expecting us to drink it mouth-to-mouth?"
"I didn't see any cups," Selene replied.
So you were just eavesdropping on our conversation.
Selene replied without changing her expression:
"It's just a sound coming from over here, I'm not eavesdropping."
"Never mind that for now, hurry up and find a cup, we want some water," Trillian continued to boss her around. "Can't you find a cup yourself? Do you need someone to teach you how to find a cup?"
"You know where the cup is, why don't you go there?"
Selene did not back down this time.
"This is my home!" Trillian stated matter-of-factly, emphasizing again, "If you want to stay, you must go get some water."
"Then I'll go." Selene turned to leave the villa.
She knew perfectly well that these people were unlikely to harm Michael, and she had more important things to deal with right now.
She had to immediately send the news that Lucian, the Werewolf leader, was still alive back to the Vampire Presbyterian Church so that the higher-ups could take appropriate action.
The four of them were a little stunned, not expecting her to leave so suddenly.
Michael panicked and immediately stood up and shouted:
Hey! Don't go!
Selene didn't stop; her hand was already on the doorknob.
Just as Selene was about to unlock the door, an invisible force struck her from behind— Draco had used the Summoning Charm!
Selene was pulled by an irresistible force and flew backward uncontrollably, landing back in front of the group.
Selene, suddenly pulled back, paused slightly, but showed no emotion. She simply steadied herself, turned to look at Draco, her eyes as calm as still water.
He asked casually, "Is there anything else?"
"Miss Selene, we are your saviors after all. Even if you don't plan to stay, it's not unreasonable for us to ask you a few questions before you leave, is it?" Draco replied.
Trillian chimed in, "Exactly! If we hadn't taken you away, you would have been torn to shreds by those Werewolf."
Selene nodded slightly and said, "Go ahead and ask."
Do you know the truth from six hundred years ago?
Hermione asked.
When the ancient history of her race was mentioned, Selene's expression turned solemn. This was the orthodox history etched into the minds of every member of the vampire clan, and the very foundation of her centuries-long hunting career.
She recounted the history she knew in detail...
Michael listened quietly, his mind reeling with turmoil.
He pondered to himself:
How could Selene know so much?
Suddenly, a thought began to take shape in his mind: Trillian and his sixth sense might be right; the woman protecting him was indeed a vampire.
Thinking of this, his gaze towards Selene became complicated, containing not fear, but rather a mixture of curiosity.
"You've been deceived." Hermione shook her head slightly, telling Selene and the others what history they knew, "We've already made contact with Lucian, the Werewolf leader. The true history is..."
"Those are all lies fabricated by rulers to consolidate their power," Selene calmly continued. "Because no one can prove that what the other is saying is the true history; only those involved can understand the intricacies."
These words startled Hermione slightly, and she thought to herself: This female vampire isn't entirely devoid of independent thought.
