On the icy plains, Dominic was riding his red, six-legged beast, galloping wildly across the snow.
A cold wind blew against his Power Armour, reducing visibility to less than five meters.
But he didn't care at all; his face was full of excitement.
Twin Peaks Mountain, the habitat of the Dragon of Frost.
If we can find that legendary dragon, this trip to Calixis will not have been in vain.
"Sir, the snowstorm ahead is getting worse!" The captain of the guard shouted as he rode his motorcycle alongside him.
"Visibility is getting lower and lower, should we stop and rest for a bit?"
"A break?" Dominic laughed heartily.
"We're less than three hours away from Twin Peaks Mountain now. We can rest after we find the Dragon of Frost!"
Ralfa followed on his motorcycle, his gray eyes scanning the surroundings warily.
Her brow furrowed slightly.
For some reason, she always felt that something was watching them from the shadows.
That subtle sense of being watched has been there ever since we encountered the savage tribe yesterday.
But when she released her senses, she found nothing.
Is it just my imagination?
Ralfa shook his head, suppressing the thought.
Perhaps the icy environment made her overly sensitive.
Just then, an urgent communication came from the Lightning Fighter formation in the sky.
"Warning! Warning! A large number of moving targets, approximately 10,000 in number, have been detected in the southeast direction and are rapidly approaching!"
"What?" Dominic reined in his horse and looked sharply to the southeast.
Amidst the swirling snow, a vast, green wave could be vaguely seen, rapidly moving towards them.
The earth began to tremble slightly, and the sensation grew stronger over time.
"They're Orks!" a guard shouted.
"So many Orks, and they're all riding Squig!"
Those were ten thousand Orks cavalrymen.
They rode Brevis's unique Icefield Squig, a ferocious mutant twice the size of a regular Squig, with thick fur and sharp fangs.
Leading the group was a giant from the Snakebites, nearly two and a half meters tall. He wore white fur armor, brandished a huge machete, and roared excitedly.
They do have a bit of the style of the Brevis savage cavalry.
"Ten thousand Orks cavalry..." The captain of the guard's expression turned serious.
"Sir, let's take a detour. There are only about twenty of us."
"Take a detour?" Dominic grinned, revealing a set of white teeth, his eyes filled with belligerent excitement.
"Why take a detour? It's a good opportunity to stretch your muscles!"
He suddenly drew the precision-engineered power spear from his back, its tip gleaming with a pale blue disintegration force field.
"All personnel, heed my command! Form up with the Baneblade Tank at the core, and provide suppressive fire with your main guns!"
" Lightning Fighter squadrons launch an aerial strike! Royal Guard squad, follow me and charge! Crush these Orks!"
"Yes, sir!"
At Dominic's command, the Baneblade Super-Heavy Tank immediately stopped, rotated its turret, and aimed at the charging Orks cavalry.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
The poisoned blade cannon roared deafeningly.
The powerful recoil could even cause the 700-ton Baneblade Tank to roll backward in the snow.
Each fragmentation round can produce thousands of tungsten alloy fragments upon detonation, covering a vast area.
Thousands of Orks vanguard cavalrymen were torn to pieces, their blood and flesh mingling and flying everywhere.
In the sky, twelve Thunderbolt Heavy Fighter swooped down, dropping rockets from their wings into the Orks group like dumplings.
Explosions rang out one after another, and the Orks cavalry's charging formation was instantly torn open in several places.
But Orks don't know fear.
They continued their frenzied charge, chanting "waaaaagh," getting closer and closer.
"For the Emperor, for Ventria!"
Dominic shouted and spurred his horse. The red beast roared and charged out like rising flames.
Twelve Ventria guards followed closely behind, like twelve golden Lightning, crashing into the Orks cavalry.
For them, fighting is the easiest thing.
Ventria's elites were like tigers among sheep, each attack taking the life of a Orks.
Their teamwork was impeccable; the three of them worked together, covering for each other and repelling the Orks attacks one by one.
Dominic was virtually invincible.
The precision-engineered power spear in his hand danced like a blue flower, and any Orks that came near him was torn to shreds by the disintegrating force field.
The fangs of the Icefield Squig and the Orks cleavers couldn't penetrate his sophisticated Power Armour.
The Snakebites guy quickly noticed Dominic.
Although he didn't see any purple-eyed ones, this shrimp was still quite powerful and suited his taste.
It roared, brandishing its machete, and charged towards Dominic.
The guards along the way who tried to stop it were all knocked away by the enormous Squig beneath it.
"You shrimp, die!"
Squig leaped up, the big man wielding a knife in both hands, the blades whistling as they slashed down towards Dominic's head.
This strike was powerful and heavy; even with the protection of advanced Power Armour, it would be difficult to withstand if it landed on one.
But Dominic reacted faster.
He yanked the reins sharply, and the red Orks reared up, dodging the horizontal slash of the cleaver in a fraction of a second.
The machete grazed his leg, carving a deep furrow in the snow.
Before the big guy could retract his weapon, Dominic had already thrust out his power spear.
"Pfft!"
The sharp spearhead pierced the big man's chest with precision.
A pale blue disintegration field erupted instantly, completely disintegrating the giant's internal organs and bones.
With a loud bang, green blood blossomed.
"The boss is dead!"
"Run!"
Upon seeing the giant being slain, the Orks cavalrymen instantly collapsed.
They turned around and scattered in all directions.
"Chase them! Don't let a single one escape!" Dominic shouted, leading his guards in pursuit.
The battle ended half an hour later.
Ten thousand Orks cavalrymen were completely wiped out.
The snow was littered with the corpses of Orks and Squig, turning the pristine white snow green.
Dominic's hunting party suffered only minor injuries to a few guards.
"That was exhilarating! Absolutely exhilarating!" Dominic laughed, wiping the blood off the power spear with a cloth.
"It's been so long since I've had this much fun playing."
But Ralfa's expression remained grave.
She walked over to a Orks corpse, squatted down, and examined it carefully.
"What's wrong, Ralfa?" Dominic asked as he walked over.
"Something's not right." Ralfa looked up and gestured in sign language.
How did these Orks suddenly appear here?
" The Lightning Fighter have been patrolling the air the whole time; it's impossible that we didn't notice them until they were this close."
Dominic's smile also faded.
Yes, that is indeed very strange.
Ten thousand Orks cavalrymen—such a large target—how could they possibly avoid aerial surveillance?
Did someone deliberately lure them here?
The moment the idea crossed his mind, Dominic shook his head and dismissed it.
Impossible. Who else in Brevis has the ability to attract ten thousand Orks cavalry?
"Perhaps the heavy snow and wind are interfering with the fighter jets' visibility," Dominic said.
"Don't think about it too much. Let's keep going and try to reach Twin Peaks Mountain before dark."
Ralfa looked at him but said nothing more.
Her doubts, however, grew deeper and deeper.
That feeling of being watched has just returned.
Shortly after they regrouped and set off again.
A muffled hoofbeat suddenly came from the snow in the distance.
The earth began to tremble violently, even more violently than when the Orks cavalry charged.
"What's that?" a guard asked, pointing into the distance, his voice filled with fear.
Everyone looked in the direction he was pointing.
A white "wall" appeared on the horizon.
Those weren't Orks, but a group of incredibly large beings.
They are five meters tall and nearly ten meters long, covered with thick, rock-like white carapaces, and have a pair of curved, sharp horns on their heads.
They lowered their heads and charged madly toward this place, crushing rocks and sending snow flying everywhere they went.
"It's Brevis Ice Plain Bison!" the guard captain shouted.
As Dominic's captain of guard, he had done his homework on the potential dangers on the ice field.
"By the Emperor, there are at least a thousand of them! How did they get here?"
