Not long after Lynn left, on the Gemstone, in Dominic's temporary quarters.
The adjutant Karen, walked in carrying an envelope, his face grave.
"Major General, there is another anonymous letter." He placed the envelope on the table; the emblem on the sealing wax was exactly the same as the previous one.
The messenger has disappeared, only saying that you must open the letter in person.
Dominic's smile slowly faded.
His gaze fell on the familiar sealing wax, and he hesitated, not immediately removing it.
Outside the window, the lights of the starport still shone brightly, and the faint roar of the transport ship's engines could be heard, like an endless drumbeat.
Dominic picked up the letter; the parchment felt cold to the touch and carried an ominous weight.
He sighed and thought to himself:
It seems this isn't over yet...
After leaving the Gemstone and boarding the airship back to the Governor's Mansion, the weariness on Lynn's face vanished instantly.
He leaned back in his chair, a faint, almost imperceptible smile playing on his lips.
Luna's meticulously planned scheme seems to have fallen apart.
Thinking you can use Dominic to bring him down? You're still too naive.
He connected with Rena through a telepathic link, his voice calm:
" Dominic is stable and progressing according to plan. How's the situation on the third basement level?"
" Guyu has already led his men through the outer layer of the magic labyrinth." Rena's voice immediately echoed in his mind.
"However, it seems we've run into some trouble now..."
"Explain in detail."
The next second, without Lynn saying a word, the shared sensory images unfolded along the Hive Mind.
Twisted corridors, suspended pebbles, eerie blue runes flickering in the darkness, and a strange, sulfurous scent in the air—this is the entrance to the Land Without Extension.
At the same moment Lynn boarded the Gemstone, Rena Guyu led the Plague Cleansing Assault Squad and the Decapitation Squad into the half-open black stone door.
Beyond the stone gate lay a completely different underground passage than the narrow one everyone had imagined.
The view suddenly opened up, but it was also extremely bizarre.
There is no ceiling, no ground; countless corridors and staircases float in the dark void.
Some meander upwards into the darkness, some extend downwards and disappear into the Mist, and some even hang completely upside down overhead.
A dark blue, Chaos energy flowed through the gaps between the bricks and metal.
The air was filled with whispers, like countless insects crawling against the eardrums, enticing one to peer into the secrets of the heart and to doubt every companion around them.
"Expand the domain!"
The sound of Guyu is clear and cold, like a piece of ice thrown into a boiling oil pan, instantly suppressing those annoying whispers.
She raised all four arms behind her back at the same time, her palms radiating a pale purple aura of Psychic Power.
Three bishops and several apostles followed closely behind, their Psychic Power intertwining to form an invisible net.
This is no ordinary Psychic Power barrier.
Genestealer originated from the Tyranids, sharing a unified Hive Mind and possessing a natural aversion to and isolation from Warp energy.
The " Shadow in the Warp " was created by the combined efforts of three bishops and Guyu, God's chosen creation.
It is sufficient to replicate, in some areas, a "not-too-accessible" area similar to that of the Sisters of Silence.
The moment the domain expanded, everyone clearly felt a lightness all over their bodies.
The whispers that pierced the mind seemed to have been cut off at their source, coming to an abrupt halt.
The suspended pebbles stopped drifting erratically, and the upside-down steps no longer twisted or deformed.
Even the eerie fragrance in the air faded, leaving only the cold scent of metal and dust.
The once unpredictable Land Without Extension, under the Shadow in the Warp, instantly lost its most deadly threat—the unpredictable reshaping of the terrain and the pervasive spiritual corruption.
"What... what kind of ability is this?"
The leader of the Decapitation Squad paused for a moment, his grip on the Boltgun loosening slightly.
He had seen the prayer shields of the Ministorum Priest and the force field barriers of the Tech-Priest, but he had never seen any force that could make the Warp simply "quiet down".
"Focus on vigilance." Guyu didn't explain further, but simply gestured towards the front.
Without the terrain interference, the mobs and demons along the way posed no threat whatsoever.
The few Pink Horror that peeked out from the shadows were torn to shrieks by the Purestrain Genestealer lurking in the dark.
The Flamer, attempting to solidify, was extinguished by the acolyte's Melta rays as soon as it produced Mars, failing even to explode.
The twenty-odd Vanguard soldiers, working in coordination with the Genestealer team, advanced with remarkable ease, encountering almost no significant obstacles.
The only problem is direction.
The Land Without Extension has no coordinates, no road signs, and all the corridors look exactly the same. If you're not careful, you'll get lost in the endless repetition.
Luna hid in the deepest part, clearly intending to exhaust their strength and patience through the maze before defeating them one by one.
But she overlooked one thing.
The core of this team is the Tyranids.
"Left ahead, three hundred meters."
A Purestrain Genestealer walking on the far left of the group suddenly stopped, its head twitching slightly and its nostrils flaring rapidly.
Its genetic sequence was deliberately embedded with a segment of Rena 'Lictor sensory enhancement, making it extremely sensitive to the presence of biomass.
Even through thick rock walls and Warp Mist, one can still detect the delicious aromas emanating from living creatures.
At the same time, the leading bishop spoke up, his voice low. "There are strong Psychic Power fluctuations deep within, mixed with the aura of flesh and blood, and there are quite a few of them."
One relies on biological instinct, and the other on Psychic Power perception; the two methods corroborate each other, and the direction becomes clear instantly.
The Tyranids's ability to dominate the galaxy has never relied solely on an endless swarm of Zerg.
Precisely locating biological matter and pinpointing the location of prey is a skill ingrained in their genes.
If you can't even figure out where the food is, how can you be worthy of being a devourer of the galaxy?
"Promote."
At Guyu's command, the group immediately changed direction and headed deeper into the corridor to the left.
Occasionally, they would encounter a few spatial folds along the way, but under the suppression of the Shadow in the Warp, they could not cause any disturbances. They were either forcibly smoothed out or the group simply bypassed them.
In less than half an hour, they broke through the outer area of Land Without Extension and were getting closer and closer to the core chamber where Luna was.
Everyone thought that what followed would be a smooth push until they reached Luna.
But no one expected that the fatal stab might not have come from the outside.
The mutation occurred on a downward-extending spiral staircase.
The staircase spiraled down into deeper darkness, with bottomless voids on either side.
The group marched in a single file, with the Aberrant leading the way and the Purestrain Genestealer scattered on both flanks as sentries.
Three bishops walked in the middle of the column to maintain order, while more than twenty Vanguard soldiers brought up the rear to protect the tail of the column.
Everything was the same as the previous journey.
Just as the group reached the middle of the steps, at the most indecisive point, the three wounded veterans at the rear suddenly stopped.
The soldier in front of them was about to turn around and urge them on when he caught a glimpse of a blinding red light out of the corner of his eye.
" Melta Bomb!"
The roar only managed to utter half a sentence.
boom!!!
