[Happy Family 2] The "True Fragrance" Law! The Livestream Was Shocked!
Chen Han's back was already completely soaked in cold sweat.
Help!
He should never have sworn that oath. Sure enough, no one could escape the "true fragrance" law!
The scarlet countdown on his watch was still ticking down frantically:
[Time remaining: 23 seconds... 22 seconds...] [An incorrect choice will directly trigger a death rule.]
The sound of chopping meat kept coming from the kitchen. A breeze smelling of rust slipped through the crack in the door, making Chen Han's hair stand on end.
To eat or not to eat?
Rule 2 forced him to finish all the food Mom made, but rule 3 expressly forbade him from taking even a single bite.
This was a death-trap question!
Whichever he chose, he could directly trigger a death rule!
His stomach suddenly let out a deafening growl, and a hunger that almost threatened to devour him instantly swept through his entire body.
It felt as though he hadn't eaten in days. His stomach burned painfully, his vision kept going dark, and he could barely even stand.
[Warning: Player's bodily functions are continuing to decline. Failure to replenish energy within 10 minutes will result in an immediate survival failure!]
The scarlet notification popped up on his watch again, driving him straight into a dead end.
Don't eat, and starve to death in 10 minutes;
Eat, and immediately trigger a death rule;
Chen Han's mind went blank, leaving only overwhelming terror and hunger.
His legs were so weak it felt like he was walking on cotton, and he took an involuntary step toward the kitchen.
He had actually begun craving raw meat!
Meanwhile, his livestream chat had completely exploded.
"Holy shit! Don't go! Five players have already gone into the kitchen, and Mom chopped them all up! Their streams went full mosaic!"
"This hunger is a dungeon debuff! Nobody can withstand it! Is this newbie going to die right at the start too?"
"We're screwed, we're screwed. I thought he was a big shot just now, but he's another useless loser who can't resist temptation!"
"Pay your respects. This dungeon has a 90% opening death rate. Nobody can find a way out!"
Just as the chat was writing him off, Chen Han suddenly slipped-
The sheer terror had left his legs too weak to support him, and he stumbled off in another direction.
The foot that had been heading toward the kitchen sent him tumbling toward the cat house on the other side of the living room instead.
He crashed into the little cart beside the cat house with a clang, leaving his head even dizzier.
He actually grabbed a metal can from the cart without thinking.
The can was printed with scrawls he couldn't understand at all.
He was practically dying. How could he spare any attention to read?
He simply hooked a finger under the pull tab and snapped it open.
Closing his eyes, he dumped all its contents into his mouth.
It had a mushy texture and a faint meaty aroma, and was surprisingly easy to swallow. He didn't even need water.
His painfully hungry stomach finally found a little relief.
Without thinking, he grabbed a second can, opened it, and polished it off in a few mouthfuls. He even let out a burp.
After two seconds of silence, the livestream chat blew straight through the roof!
"Holy shit!!! Cat food??? He actually ate cat food???"
"Brilliant!! Rules 2 and 3 only talk about not eating Mom's food. They never said he couldn't eat the cat's! He exploited that loophole perfectly!"
"I'm fucking stunned! Every other player was agonizing over whether to eat Mom's cooking, and he alone found another way! How does his brain even work?"
"That stumble just now! I thought he was going to fall to his death, but he was positioning himself precisely by the cat house? That prediction was incredible!"
"Did he calculate everything beforehand? He never intended to enter the kitchen, and that step was just an act? He's playing so deep!"
"Whoever called him useless, get out here and take your beating! Out of the dozen or so people running this dungeon at the same time, he's the only one who pulled this off!"
Only one or two scattered comments stubbornly refused to concede:
"Just a blind cat stumbling on a dead mouse. He's a newbie who got lucky, that's all. He'll die at the next stage anyway."
Chen Han had no idea the entire internet was already hailing him as a top-tier player.
He merely leaned against the cart, gasping for breath, finally recovering from that near-fatal hunger.
That stumble had almost scared his soul out of him. Luckily, he hadn't hit the floor, or the noise would have drawn Mom over, and he would have been dead all the same.
Just then, another scarlet notification appeared on his watch, instantly sending his newly settled heart into his throat:
[Countdown until rule 4 takes effect: 1 minute 47 seconds. Please return to Mom's line of sight as soon as possible. Exceeding the time limit will trigger a death rule.]
Chen Han's face instantly went white.
He had almost forgotten that lethal rule! He couldn't stay out of Mom's sight for more than 10 minutes! He was already well past that limit since waking up!
No wonder nothing had happened earlier. The countdown for the rule had only started now!
Every hair on his body stood on end again. Just as he was about to inch toward the kitchen, a bone-chilling woman's voice suddenly rang out beside his ear:
"What are you doing?"
Chen Han's blood instantly ran cold.
He jerked his head up and saw that "Mom" had appeared behind him at some point, less than half a meter away!
She hadn't made the slightest sound while walking. He hadn't noticed a thing!
What was he doing???
Chen Han wanted nothing more than to shout at the woman, "I don't know either!!!"
He'd just suddenly fucking turned into the reincarnation of a hungry ghost. He was starving!!!
The woman was still holding the golden shaded cat with blood at the corners of its mouth.
The loving smile had vanished completely from her face, replaced by eyes full of menace.
She was still clutching a kitchen knife coated in dark red slime, and the liquid on its blade dripped down,
striking the floor with faint sounds.
Utter terror instantly seized Chen Han's heart, and his whole body went as rigid as stone.
The empty can in his hand fell to the floor with a clang. He stood as though nailed to the spot, even forgetting to breathe.
All he could do was stare straight at the woman before him with his eyes wide open.
Yet to anyone watching, he showed not the slightest trace of panic.
Instead, his face was utterly indifferent, and he didn't even blink.
As though the knife-wielding anomaly before him were nothing more than an irrelevant decoration in his eyes.
The livestream chat went wild once again.
"Holy shit!!! A second point-blank jumpscare!! I got so scared I threw my phone! He didn't even move?"
"What the fuck are those nerves?? The knife is practically in his face, and he's still that calm?"
"Did he predict Mom would come over? Is that why he couldn't even be bothered to dodge?"
"That presence!! Who would believe he isn't a top-tier rules horror big shot?!"
Meanwhile, as the woman looked at the empty cans on the floor, she slowly raised the hand holding the kitchen knife, and her sinister voice rang out again:
"Who said you could touch Xiaomi's things?"
