[Happy Family of Four 4] Everyone Else Was in a Rules Horror, While I Was Sleeping!
Only the ghosts knew just how scared he had been!
Chen Han had simply been spacing out.
Whenever someone spoke to him while he was spacing out, he would jump in fright.
He couldn't help it. He had been rather slow since childhood.
He ate what he liked, drank what he liked, and never took anything to heart.
Not to mention an enormous visitor from outer space like that golden-shaded cat.
Chen Han had instinctively thought an atomic bomb was flying at him.
So he had instinctively given it a slap.
Only when the golden-shaded cat went flying did he realize what he had just done.
Chen Han blanched.
Holy shit, what are you doing?!
That fat cat set me up.
If you, the instance, think bullying a boy who is so clumsy, so miserable, trying so hard, and falling apart-
Gives you a special sense of accomplishment, then please go take a shit!
But since Chen Han had an expressionless face, he looked inscrutable on the surface.
Chen Han hurriedly looked toward Mom.
Judging by how Mom treated this golden-shaded cat, she probably treasured it.
If she discovered that he had slapped her beloved pet, she might turn into an anomaly on the spot.
Mom suddenly paused just then, as though she had sensed something.
Chen Han felt a chill sweep over his head. It felt sinister.
No way?
Had she really noticed?
Chen Han's heart was pounding like a drum.
Fortunately, Mom only paused for an instant before quickly resuming her meat chopping.
The golden-shaded cat had been knocked to the floor and cried out in pain.
It turned its head, about to hiss at Chen Han.
But when it saw Chen Han's face, as dark as the bottom of a pot, it unexpectedly felt a trace of fear.
And with the rules themselves restraining it as well, it didn't dare act too arrogantly.
In the end, it merely turned back and glared at Chen Han.
Then it jumped onto a nearby shelf and looked toward Mom as she chopped meat in the kitchen.
It gazed at her eagerly, hoping Mom would avenge it!
Chen Han noticed that the golden-shaded cat had no interest whatsoever in the canned food. Instead, its eyes gleamed green at the meat Mom was chopping.
The barrage of comments grew lively just then.
"Oh my god, I'm dying! This is the first time I've seen an uncanny being take a loss!"
"I told you this guy wasn't ordinary. Convinced now?"
"That move from the god-tier Chen Han was seriously badass. It looked like he was just feeding a cat! But he was actually focused on the golden-shaded cat the whole time. He spotted it trying to attack him, picked the perfect moment, and slapped it. Clean and decisive. So satisfying!"
"Agreed with the comment above. And you can tell from his attitude toward the golden-shaded cat right now that he's establishing dominance! Otherwise, that cat would definitely walk all over him!"
"Holy shit, a detail expert has appeared in the livestream. What careful observation. Establishing dominance never even occurred to me. I thought Boss Chen Han just had a sour face!"
"Awesome. I feel like the expert's interpretation will give me enough to study for a while..."
"Establishing dominance? Chen Han's mental fortitude is seriously badass! Exactly. That golden-shaded cat was acting so high and mighty just now. Now it knows who's boss in this house!"
Because Chen Han's move had been so astonishing, no one in the comments questioned him anymore.
Yet Chen Han had no idea that his helpless reaction had become an incredibly badass act of "establishing dominance."
He thought, Since the golden-shaded cat doesn't want the canned food, I'll gather up what spilled and give it to the silver-shaded cat.
The silver-shaded cat had already polished off the canned food Chen Han had given it and was now concentrating on licking the can.
Seeing Chen Han give it another can of dirty food, it was naturally overjoyed.
But it remained very timid.
Only after Chen Han withdrew his hand did it resume munching away.
Clearly, it was very hungry.
The comments were scrolling rapidly now.
"Boss Chen Han's actions have a deeper meaning. No doubt about it. He's winning over the silver-shaded cat! The golden-shaded cat is clearly a demonic cat, but the silver-shaded cat is different! Look at its attitude. Maybe it'll give Boss Chen Han some unexpected benefits later?"
"He's feeding the silver-shaded cat two cans now to let it build up its strength, too! One can isn't enough!"
"Boss Chen Han is absolutely operating in the atmosphere here! Such foresight!"
Chen Han hadn't actually thought that far.
He simply felt that letting the silver-shaded cat eat it would save him the trouble of throwing it in the trash.
Nor did Chen Han think much about the golden-shaded cat refusing the canned food. After all, Mom had just carried it out of the kitchen.
Maybe Mom had already fed it.
Chen Han continued analyzing the remaining three rules.
He firmly committed to memory the two feeding deadlines for the golden-shaded cat in Rule 2: before 12:30 and 17:30.
After all, Rule 3 threatened him outright: [If the golden-shaded cat does not get the food it desires, it will go completely insane.]
The golden-shaded cat had better not go completely insane!
If it did, wouldn't it settle all its old and new grudges at once?!
He remembered just how hard he had slapped it!
Chen Han also discovered an overlooked point in Rule 2:
The strange thing about this rule was that it only specified when to feed the golden-shaded cat, not when to feed the silver-shaded cat.
So did the silver-shaded cat need feeding or not?
Chen Han soon found the answer to that question in another rule.
Rule 1 specified that both cats had to be fed.
Chen Han's head hurt, and he decided to feed both cats according to the golden-shaded cat's schedule.
That would also save him from mixing up the times and forgetting to feed them.
Chen Han checked the time. It was ten in the morning.
Lunch would be in a few hours.
Mom hadn't offered him breakfast. She would probably offer him lunch, right?
Hopefully, it'll be a normal meal. I'm not even asking for anything lavish. Normal is enough!
Rule 4 instructed Chen Han to feed the silver-shaded cat a white pill at 17:00.
Chen Han searched the little cart inside and out and discovered the white pill in a gap in the cart.
He really wouldn't have found it without searching carefully.
This instance was way too sneaky!
It was on par with converting between "grams" and "kilograms" in elementary school math.
To avoid forgetting where he had put the white pill, Chen Han stuffed it straight into his pocket.
Afterward, he planned to stay right where he was. Moving around too much might trigger another death trap.
Besides, the rules specified that Chen Han couldn't leave Mom for more than ten minutes.
Everything was fine now because Mom was still within his sight, but there was no telling what would happen if she really disappeared from view.
As for what Rule 5 meant by [Please determine the validity of the above rules yourself. Otherwise, you will be doomed beyond redemption.]?
Reading it made Chen Han break out in a cold sweat, too.
He had to be honest-
He really couldn't tell which rule might be wrong.
They all seemed fine to him?!
Couldn't they stop making things difficult for an old man in his twenties?!
Forget it. I'll stop thinking about that for now.
There was no need to make things difficult for his own intelligence!
Chen Han sat down on the sofa like that and waited for noon.
Perhaps because the morning had been so mentally exhausting, his eyelids began fighting to stay open.
His head bobbed up and down, and then he simply went right to sleep.
The comments filled with question marks.
"?"
"?"
"?"
"Stop posting question marks. What's so confusing? Boss Chen Han has done everything he needs to do. What's so surprising?"
"This is the first time I've seen someone fall asleep inside a rules horror!"
"I'm stunned. Just how unshakable is Boss Chen Han?"
"We still don't know why Chen Han fell asleep like that on that day..."
When the time reached noon.
Mom walked out of the kitchen, carrying a basin of bloody raw meat.
After setting the raw meat on the dining table, she walked over to Chen Han.
She simply stared at Chen Han.
Not a sound.
Suddenly, she smiled.
Her mouth stretched all the way to her ears, exposing a row of fangs.
Her eyes turned completely dark red, too. She looked about to transform into an anomaly.
Seeing this, the golden-shaded cat watched Chen Han with an amused expression.
But perhaps because that earlier slap had shaken it, it only watched from afar.
At the critical moment, just before she completely transformed into an anomaly, she stopped.
She returned to her previous gentle appearance, as though nothing had happened.
She gently shook Chen Han awake.
"Time to eat."
Chen Han opened his eyes groggily, thinking he was back in his hometown and his own mother was calling him to eat.
He answered without thinking.
"Mom, stop calling me. Let me sleep a little longer..."
Chen Han even rolled over, buried his face in the sofa cushion, and rubbed against it.
He felt not the slightest trace of fear.
Nor did he have the slightest awareness-
That the anomaly before him, which had nearly torn him apart, wasn't his real mother at all.
Mom froze where she stood.
WTF?!
Dude, what are you even doing?
