  • Dill ate the Flame-Swallowing Lord fruit, killed King Dill, and escaped the castle with Robin and Hina as the island’s mob pursued them.
  • Dill and Robin arranged for Bege to retrieve the king’s treasure and Treasure Tree Adam branches, while Hina learned about the Poneglyphs and Ohara’s destruction.
  • Dill hypnotized Narcissa’s crew and sailed with Robin and Hina toward the island marked on Robin’s chart, where armed women spotted their ship approaching.
Chapters 1–25 Vol. 1 Read

Ch. 1Kali Dill

Kali Dill used hypnosis to earn money while traveling with Nico Robin, then encountered Brandon, a gang member hunting Robin for the Bullet family. Dill hypnotized Brandon and learned that Bullet planned to capture Robin and use her to bribe the Marines, leaving Dill aware of a new threat.

  • Mrs. Marie paid Dill for a hypnosis package intended to make her son Kenta study and outshine his illegitimate brother.
  • Robin showed Dill his increased bounty of 1,000 Beli, and he burned the poster in frustration.
  • Dill explained that his Power of Belief let him gain abilities when others believed he had them, and he used hypnosis to manipulate people.
  • Brandon entered the inn with bounty posters of Dill and Robin, and Dill persuaded him to discuss the search upstairs.
  • Dill revealed his true face and hypnotized Brandon, who said the Bullet family was searching for Robin to capture her alive and bribe the Marines.

Ch. 2Dill, this isn't funny

Dill completely hypnotized Brandon and used him to gain an inside position in Black Fire while Bullet searched for Dill and Robin. Dill told Robin they would stay on the island, and Brandon began subtly encouraging a fellow member to go out with him the next night.

  • Dill decided to make Brandon a fully controlled mole inside the West Blue’s powerful families and spent hours completing the hypnosis.
  • Dill instructed Brandon to believe a long list of abilities Dill claimed to possess and sent him to call Robin before returning to his assignment.
  • Robin found Dill exhausted on the sofa, and Dill told her Bullet was after them but that they would not leave the island soon.
  • Dill asked Robin to buy food and read him the newspaper, and she teased him for still struggling to read.
  • Brandon reported that his district had no sign of Robin to the bartender at Black Fire’s base, then persuaded a colleague to go out with him the next night.

Ch. 3You Believe You

Dill used hypnosis and money to recruit members of Black Fire as he worked toward controlling the gang and its allies. With Gunpowder and his fast deputy Boren posing a challenge, Dill decided he needed a warehouse for a new plan.

  • Dill hypnotized Mary’s son to study hard, and Mary paid him five million Beli before leaving with the boy.
  • Dill recruited Ross by offering him money, and Ross later brought Brown, who brought Geno, who brought Pica.
  • Dill told Robin he planned to take over Black Fire, approach Bullet, and eventually control the Five Families.
  • Dill explained that Gunpowder could turn into gunpowder and that his deputy Boren was fast enough to dodge bullets, making hypnosis too risky.
  • Dill asked Robin how many arms she could create and concluded that they needed a warehouse.

Ch. 4Old man, times have changed

Dill and Robin lured Gunpowder and Boren into a rain-soaked warehouse, where their ambush left both gang leaders vulnerable. Dill defeated Boren and aimed a pistol at him, declaring that times had changed.

  • Gunpowder learned that Robin had been found at a warehouse and rushed there with Brandon and Boren.
  • Gunpowder and Boren entered the empty warehouse, where artificial rain and Robin's gunfire exposed them to an ambush.
  • Brandon, Geno, and the others attacked Gunpowder while Robin's bullets wounded Boren.
  • Dill entered the warehouse and fought Boren, using electricity and flames to overwhelm him.
  • Dill held Boren at gunpoint and told him, “Old man, times have changed.”

Ch. 5Two hundred times the effort? Haha~

Dill hypnotized Gunpowder into submission and revealed that belief in his abilities could strengthen them, though he still needed stamina and training to use them. While Dill returned to sleep with Robin, Gunpowder reorganized his gang, then faced a scolding for keeping it out of profitable businesses.

  • Dill defeated Gunpowder by threatening Boren, submerged him in fresh water, and hypnotized him for six hours.
  • Dill demonstrated newly acquired water, fire, and lightning abilities and explained that belief raised their limits but did not replace training or stamina.
  • Dill ordered Gunpowder to train and develop his Devil Fruit ability, then left with Robin to sleep.
  • Gunpowder canceled the gang's operation to capture the Devil Child, gave his subordinates pay and time off, and told them to call him chief.
  • Gunpowder ordered a doctor for Boren, and later he was berated for relying on protection fees instead of expanding into profitable businesses.

Ch. 6You care too much about results, Robin

Dill and Robin worked to turn Black Fire into a stronger organization while preparing Gunpowder to become mayor and Karin to manage the town. After a month of reforms, Robin reported their progress and told Dill that a capable newcomer named Bege had joined.

  • Dill ordered Gunpowder to reform Black Fire’s collections, control his men, and build support so he could become mayor.
  • Dill and Robin agreed to keep their foothold on the island while planning to travel and expand their influence elsewhere.
  • Robin organized reforms, renamed protection money as taxes, and brought the island’s utilities, port, businesses, shipyards, and hot springs under Black Fire’s control.
  • Over the next month, Robin managed the island’s affairs while Dill hypnotized newcomers and repeatedly returned from fishing with an empty bucket.
  • Robin said Gunpowder’s reputation had improved, Karin was progressing in her studies, and Karin could soon manage the town after Gunpowder became mayor.
  • Robin told Dill that a capable newcomer named Bege had joined Black Fire.

Ch. 7A chance to leave the West Blue

Dill learned that Bege had joined Black Fire and suspected he was targeting Gunpowder, so he prepared a trap while hoping to recruit Bege and use his ability to leave the West Blue. Bege entered the tavern to plan Gunpowder’s assassination, where Brandon told him his cover was blown.

  • Dill confirmed Bege’s identity and told Robin to keep working without revealing her identity while he handled the threat.
  • Dill explained that Bege might be after Gunpowder and could help them travel beyond the West Blue, then arranged a hot spring gathering and prepared a ship and supplies for an escape.
  • Bege recalled that he had joined Black Fire to assassinate Gunpowder and planned to study his eating habits before choosing how to poison him.
  • Bege went to the tavern on tax collection day, where Brandon announced that his cover was blown.

Ch. 8So ugly

Bege gained Gunpowder’s trust by proving his literacy and taking charge of tax collection, while Gunpowder and his allies secretly prepared to expose his assassination plan. At the hot spring, Gunpowder’s trap sprang shut, and Bege fought back as the Black Fire members surrounded him with guns.

  • Bege accepted a job managing the tax collection team after answering Robin’s question about organizing patrols.
  • After Bege left, Gunpowder spoke with Dill and planned for Robin to show Bege her face to dispel his suspicions.
  • Bege saw Robin unmasked and, convinced she wore it because she was ugly, continued planning to assassinate Gunpowder.
  • On the seventh, Gunpowder led the gang to a hot spring and tried to throw Bege into the water, revealing the trap.
  • Bege used weapons stored with his Castle-Castle Fruit power to break free, but the surrounding Black Fire members lowered the wooden walls and aimed their guns at him.

Ch. 9I came to laugh at you

Bege’s castle-form body was overwhelmed by Black Fire’s coordinated attacks, and Dill used hypnosis to persuade him to cease fire until his reinforcements arrived. Dill then approached the immobilized Bege, saying he had come to laugh at him.

  • Bege transformed into a fortress, called Bullet for reinforcements, and learned they would take six hours to arrive.
  • Geno’s slingshot squad, Pica, Julia, Gunpowder, Boren, and Brandon worked together to burn, damage, and slow Bege’s castle form.
  • Dill predicted Bege would run out of ammunition and ordered Boren to offer him a chance to surrender while Dill hypnotized him from a distance.
  • Bege and Boren argued over who should stop attacking first, until Dill told Boren to accept Bege’s proposal to cease fire while he waited for his people.
  • Dill ordered deserters to be caught and sent to clear wasteland, then approached Bege with food and alcohol and said he had come to laugh at him.

Ch. 10Here's to the day we bring down the Celestial Dragons!

Dill recruited Capone Bege by redirecting his desire to assassinate powerful bosses toward the Celestial Dragons, then planned to leave Cologne Island with Robin before their association drew suspicion. A fabricated news report recast their escape as a defeat for the Devil Child and a victory for the Black Fire Organization, while Dill and Robin sailed away among ten ships.

  • Dill revealed his face to Bege, dismissed his objections, and persuaded him to join an alliance aimed at bringing down the Celestial Dragons.
  • Bege agreed to work with Dill, and they toasted their partnership with wine and milk before Robin arrived.
  • Dill explained to Robin that he had framed the Celestial Dragons as the ultimate bosses to exploit Bege's desire to assassinate his superior, while privately admitting he did not intend to lead a revolt.
  • Dill ordered his gang to leave and arranged for at least ten ships to depart that afternoon so he and Robin could flee without drawing further attention to Bege.
  • Dill and Robin boarded a ship as a fabricated report claimed that the Devil Child had attacked Cologne Island, Karin had become its new mayor, and the Black Fire Organization had become the Public Security Bureau.

Ch. 11Hina, the rebellious girl

Hina reconsidered her future while traveling with her parents, who pressured her to marry into royalty. When a bull-headed sea beast attacked the passenger ship, Hina found her parents gone and Dill pulled her to safety.

  • Hina called Dill a creepy old man after he approached her on the deck, then returned to her suite.
  • Dean and Tilly reproached Hina and pushed her to meet a prince, but she refused and went to her room.
  • Hina crossed professional writer off her list of possible careers and vowed to join the Marines rather than accept an arranged marriage.
  • A bull-headed sea beast surfaced at night and rammed the passenger ship, injuring the lookout and terrifying the passengers.
  • Hina found her parents' room empty, ran into Dill's suite, and Dill grabbed her wrist and told her to run.

Ch. 12Red Bull Incident

Dill, Robin, and Hina escaped a rampaging sea cow by lifeboat, then reached an island and entered its forest to find food. Hina joined Dill and Robin’s group, and Robin spotted two hunters arguing over a dead bear.

  • Dill broke a window, led Robin and Hina to a lifeboat, and played a warning that the sea cow attacked red objects.
  • Robin navigated while Dill comforted Hina, who learned their identities and revealed her Cage-Cage Fruit ability.
  • Hina asked to join Dill and Robin, and Dill welcomed her aboard.
  • Robin found their position on the chart, and the three rowed toward an island for about five hours.
  • The group entered the forest and Robin used her ability to spy on two hunters arguing over a dead bear.

Ch. 13An Island Full of Dills

Dill, Robin, and Hina met Hunter Dill, who explained the island’s system of Dill names and warned Dill not to use his name. Dill hid his identity as Dean and noticed that his hypnosis had not affected Hunter Dill, then introduced Robin and Hina as his younger sisters, Jolyne and Lise.

  • Hunter Dill confronted Dill, Robin, and Hina, then let them stay and share food after hearing their ship had been wrecked by a black sea cow.
  • Hunter Dill explained that the island’s residents were all called Dill, with names distinguished by professions, features, or numbers.
  • When Dill insisted that his name was Dill, Hunter Dill threatened him, so Dill introduced himself as Dean instead.
  • Dill realized Hunter Dill had not been hypnotized and decided to test his ability on someone else.
  • Robin refused to tell Hina about Dill’s parents, and Dill introduced the two women as his little sisters, Jolyne and Lise.

Ch. 14Blond Curly-Haired Big-** Dill

Dill, Robin, and Hina visited Hunter Dill's home and learned that an alleged curse prevented the islanders from leaving. While seeking the port and investigating local customs, they learned about an unusually early hunting tournament before an elderly informant suddenly died.

  • Dill returned to Hunter Dill with Robin and Hina and accepted his hospitality after deciding that the hunter posed no threat.
  • Blond Curly-Haired explained that islanders exploded if they traveled too far from the island and secured the visitors' promise to frighten her son away from seeking adventures overseas.
  • Dill, Robin, and Hina asked villagers for directions and learned that the port lay a two-day walk to the east.
  • The villagers explained that the Hunter Ranking Tournament awarded the name Hunter Dill to whoever submitted the greatest weight of prey skulls.
  • An old man revealed that His Majesty had ordered the tournament seven years early after rainbow-colored mist disappeared and warned that tournament cheats always died horribly.
  • Dill checked the old man's breathing after noticing something strange and discovered that he had died.

Ch. 15"Dill, you're under arrest."

Dill, Robin, and Hina tried to leave the strange island after an old man died and they ran out of money. At the royal capital’s restaurant, soldiers surrounded them and relayed the king’s order to arrest Dill.

  • The old man died in front of Dill, and his son Long-Legged Bald Dill showed no grief as he carried the body inside.
  • Dill recalled the Rainbow Mist and led Robin and Hina toward the port instead of investigating the island.
  • Robin discovered they had no money, so Hina made black spears that Dill sold to a weapon shop for three hundred thousand Beli.
  • Dill, Robin, and Hina reached the royal capital and ate at a restaurant before planning to find a ship.
  • Soldiers surrounded the restaurant, and Soldier Dill relayed the king’s order: Dill was under arrest.

Ch. 16The Control-Control Fruit

Dill, Robin, and Hina were captured and taken to the castle, where Dill met the young king who controlled him through the Den Den Mushi. The king revealed that he had eaten the Control-Control Fruit and could manipulate others, but he said he had captured Dill because he was lonely.

  • The king ordered Soldier Dill to bring Dill, Robin, and Hina to the castle after Dill resisted a command transmitted through the Den Den Mushi.
  • Soldiers bound Robin and Hina, put Robin in a barrel of water, and took Dill to the king's surveillance room.
  • The king introduced himself as a Control Human who had eaten the Control-Control Fruit and explained that he could only control people named Dill.
  • The king demonstrated his power by making staff members explode, collapse, or act like dogs, then killed them.
  • Dill asked why the king had captured him, and the king answered that he was lonely.

Ch. 17How King Dill Built His Fortune

King Dill explained how he had discovered Dill could resist his control and revealed that he had manipulated events to bring him to town. He showed Dill a cartoon recounting how he built his island kingdom, leaving Dill captive and facing the threat of having his limbs cut off.

  • King Dill said he had erased the self-awareness of most Dills, turning them into obedient machines, and explained how he had secretly steered Dill toward town.
  • King Dill described his ability to control bodies and souls, admitted he could not fully control Dill, and said he planned to keep him captive for company.
  • King Dill recounted how a mutiny left him blind and how he came to trust only Dills, whose eyes let him see through them.
  • The cartoon showed King Dill building a population through forced reproduction, using the Control-Control Fruit to drain life force and regain his youth, and isolating the island with a deadly boundary.
  • The cartoon ended with King Dill shaping island life through strict information control and professional competitions as he prepared to pursue his goal of ruling the world.

Ch. 18I still hadn't... done that...

Dill questioned the king about the Rainbow Mist and learned that he planned to use a newly found Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit and Robin’s knowledge to conquer the world. While pretending to consider submission, Dill seized a chance to bite the fruit the king had brought him.

  • Dill asked whether the ranking tournament was connected to the Rainbow Mist, and the king revealed he had found a Mythical Zoan, the Human-Human Fruit, Model: Flame-Swallowing Lord.
  • The king said he would use the tournament to find powerful Dills and make the strongest one eat the fruit as his weapon.
  • The king showed Dill that Robin and Hina were under surveillance, then revealed his plans to use Robin, Treasure Tree Adam timber, and the Ancient Weapon Pluton to conquer the world.
  • Dill asked for Seastone handcuffs and pretended to consider submission, while the king promised him comfort and rewards after his plans succeeded.
  • The king sent a soldier to show Dill the fruit, and Dill suddenly bit into the apple.

Ch. 19Human-Human Fruit: Mythical Zoan

Dill ate the Human-Human Fruit: Mythical Zoan, killed the king, and fought through the castle as Robin and Hina escaped their room. He reunited with them and broke out of the castle, leaving the three to flee the island.

  • Dill leaped from the barrel, ate the fruit, blocked the king’s commands by damaging his eardrums, and killed the king before setting his remains on fire.
  • Dill discovered his new Flame-Swallowing Lord abilities as he fought the staff and silver-armored soldiers in the surveillance room.
  • Robin and Hina escaped their restraints and found the second floor deserted as people rushed toward Dill’s fight.
  • Robin formed a rope from her summoned arms, and she and Hina used the iron chains to pull Dill up from the first-floor hall.
  • Dill grabbed Robin and Hina, smashed through a window, and escaped the castle with them.

Ch. 20Never Betray That Glory!

Dill raced across the rooftops with Robin and Hina as crazed townspeople pursued them, then reached the harbor and chose a cargo ship to escape. He intimidated the sailors with his powers, and the ship’s captain appeared and unexpectedly greeted him with interest.

  • Dill carried Robin and Hina through the town while a frenzied mob chased them, and Robin secured the girls to him so he could move freely.
  • Hina chose to stay with Dill, and he led them over the rooftops toward the harbor while townspeople hurled objects at them.
  • Dill reached the harbor guards, who were preparing to hold off the mob, and ran past them to find a ship.
  • Dill selected a small cargo ship, climbed aboard, and demanded to know who the captain was.
  • Dill ate a sailor’s flintlock and breathed fire at him, then the burly woman captain emerged and asked what brought him aboard.

Ch. 21The legacy of Wei Wu!

Dill used hypnosis to commandeer a ship and leave cursed Dill Island with Robin and Hina, while learning more about his Mythical Zoan abilities. After discovering his new one-million-Beli bounty and hypnotizing the captain and a sailor, he prepared to go ashore with the others and celebrate with a feast.

  • Dill hypnotized the female captain into ordering her crew to sail, and the ship departed as townspeople drowned trying to escape Dill Island.
  • Dill explained the Flame-Swallowing Lord legend to Robin and Hina, then learned that its charm ability affected married women.
  • Robin realized she had forgotten to hide her face, so Hina searched the deck for a Den Den Mushi while Robin went with her to check on Dill.
  • Dill hypnotized the captain, reassured Robin about her exposed face, and later saw that his bounty had risen to one million Beli.
  • Dill continued hypnotizing people aboard the ship for three hours, then agreed with Robin to disembark and have a big feast.

Ch. 22Poneglyph

Dill, Hina, and Robin reached a port, bought supplies, and contacted Bege to send him after the treasure on Erdi Island. While dining, Robin and Dill recognized that a book described an island whose inhabitants guarded a Poneglyph.

  • Dill reassured Robin that the hypnotized captives would be safe and planned for the three of them to leave by passenger ship the next morning.
  • Dill bought a Den Den Mushi and called Bege, telling him to take trusted men to Erdi Island and retrieve the king’s treasure and Treasure Tree Adam branches.
  • Bege was shocked that Dill had killed a king so quickly, then resolved not to fall behind and went to speak with Gunpowder and Boren.
  • Dill devoured an enormous meal while Robin read and Hina tried to find an island suitable for a vacation.
  • Hina read about an island where people guarded a stone, and Robin and Dill recognized it as a Poneglyph.

Ch. 23"Hina is unnecessary."

Dill, Robin, and Hina discussed Robin’s plan to find an unnamed island linked to Ohara’s history, then decided to search for it by seizing a cargo ship. The three settled into a hotel suite and prepared to rest before setting out.

  • Robin explained the Poneglyphs to Hina and shared the tragedy of Ohara with her.
  • Dill ate his fill in the restaurant kitchen and left without paying, planning to have Bege settle the bill later.
  • Hina condemned the Marine Vice Admiral who shelled a refugee ship and expressed disgust with the Marines.
  • Dill took Robin and Hina to a hotel, where Robin marked a rough search area for the unnamed island on a nautical chart.
  • Dill rejected Robin’s slow route plan and proposed seizing a larger cargo ship to search the area directly.
  • Dill went to his room, and Robin invited the tired Hina to take a bath.

Ch. 24The Book Thief and Narcissa

Dill, Robin, and Hina boarded Narcissa’s cargo ship after Dill persuaded the captain to give them a ride. Days later, as the ship changed course into unknown waters, Dill approached a sailor and asked whether he believed him.

  • Dill woke to shouts about a thief, then went to the harbor with Robin and Hina to find a ship.
  • Dill chose Narcissa’s cargo ship and persuaded her to take the three of them aboard.
  • Narcissa welcomed Robin and Hina, then ordered her twenty sailors to set sail.
  • Dill watched constables chase a medical-uniformed book thief along the shore as the ship departed.
  • Narcissa asked Dill to explain words in her book, and Dill called Hina over to help.
  • A sailor’s diary recorded that Narcissa changed course into unknown waters, and Dill then knocked at his cabin and asked, “Do you believe me?”

Ch. 25Oh my God, they weren't...

After Dill hypnotized the last sailor, his crew sailed toward the unnamed island while his fame and bounty grew. Robin, Hina, and Dill spotted five primitive women on the shore, and the ship approached as the women prepared to defend themselves.
