"A veteran who has been asleep for seventy years is exchanged for S.H.I.E.L.D..'s top-level classified information."
Fury stared intently at Chen Mo with his one eye, his voice low and menacing.
"This isn't a deal, it's extortion."
Chen Mo glanced down at Steve on the ground.
"I must correct you, he's not just a veteran, he's Captain America, representing the great American Dream."
"He is currently only a wounded person whose condition is unknown."
That's perfect.
Chen Mo nodded. "The wounded get a discount, and I'll also throw in a 70-year-old piece of Arctic deep well ice. Bring me the Tesseract."
Fury's face darkened.
He really wanted to refuse outright.
But Steve was right in front of them, the legendary figure S.H.I.E.L.D.. had been searching for for decades, now separated by only a layer of ice.
Giving up is impossible.
" The Tesseract is not a simple commodity."
Fury said in a deep voice, "It concerns the safety of the entire planet; I cannot hand it over for the sake of one person."
That makes sense.
Chen Mo lifted his foot and stepped on the edge of the ice.
"Since it's not worth it, I'll take it back as a decorative item to ward off evil spirits."
The thick, solid ice slowly lifted off the ground.
Coulson's expression changed instantly.
"Etc!"
Chen Mo looked at him, "What, you're making an offer?"
Coulson opened his mouth.
He was just an ordinary agent; he didn't even have the authority to dispose of the Tesseract, let alone an office chair in the bureau.
"I can buy it."
Tony suddenly picked up the conversation, carefully examining Steve inside the ice.
" Stark Tower is missing a main exhibit, and Captain Frozen is much more interesting than modern sculptures."
Coulson's eyes widened.
" Mr. Stark, the Captain is not an exhibit!"
"Don't worry, I'll defrost regularly."
Tony stroked his chin. "Put a sign next to it that says 'My father's old colleague.' It should have good collectible value."
"Mr. Howard will never agree!"
"He has passed away; there are no objections at the moment."
Coulson was speechless.
Chen Mo cooperated by raising the ice block.
"Okay, I'll sell it to you."
"Etc."
Fury finally spoke, "Have you two finished acting?"
Tony spread his hands.
"I do want to buy it; at least his shield is real."
"I really do want to sell."
The ice beneath Chen Mo's feet rose a little higher. "And I only accept Tesseract, no installment payments."
Fury's expression grew increasingly grim.
These two, working in unison, clearly knew that S.H.I.E.L.D.. would never abandon Steve.
But he couldn't bring himself to turn against them.
Falling out with Tony would at most cause a media storm.
Turning against Chen Mo? It's best not to even think about that, lest you get drunk one day.
"Mr. Chen Mo, why do you need the Tesseract?"
Coulson couldn't help but ask, "That glowing cube isn't edible either."
Chen Mo glanced at him.
"Who said it's not food?"
Coulson's expression froze.
Fury's back tensed up as well.
Chen Mo then waved his hand.
"Just kidding, look how scared you were."
No one laughed.
Chen Mo curled his lip. "That thing is essentially an uncontrollable two-way portal. You're keeping it because you want to study the energy inside."
Fury narrowed his one eye slightly.
"Go on."
"Say what?"
Chen Mo pointed at him, "You don't really think only you guys can open it, do you?"
The laboratory fell silent.
"Since the door can open from this side, it can naturally open from the other side as well."
Chen Mo said casually, "You bunch of people who haven't even gotten a foothold on the moon yet, are messing around with a cosmic teleportation device. You'll end up sending out your coordinates sooner or later."
"The visitors coming then won't be alien tourists."
Coulson swallowed hard.
What could it be?
"Alien army."
Chen Mo looked at Fury, "If you're lucky, they'll only steal things. If you're unlucky, they'll steal everything."
Fury didn't speak.
His eyes flickered intensely, clearly trying to determine the truthfulness of those words.
When others said the Tesseract would attract alien armies, he only ordered people to investigate where the other side obtained the secrets.
But since these words came from Chen Mo, he dared not disbelieve them.
Keeping the Tesseract means keeping an energy weapon, but it also means leaving behind a coordinate system that could explode at any time.
Captain America's value is equally immeasurable.
S.H.I.E.L.D.. has just undergone a purge by Hydra, leaving the organization in turmoil. Steve's recovery would be enough to stabilize the situation.
Moreover, Chen Mo is clearly more dangerous than S.H.I.E.L.D..
Tesseract we give him the S.H.I.E.L.D.. warehouse.
After a dozen seconds, Fury finally gritted his teeth.
I agree.
Coulson looked at him sharply.
"Chief?"
"Shut up."
Fury stared at Chen Mo. " The Tesseract will be delivered later, but I need to confirm the captain is still alive first."
"Make a deal."
Chen Mo nodded in satisfaction.
Doing business with smart people is always easier.
He raised his right hand and casually snapped his the Snap.
Smack
The thick, solid ice encasing Steve cracked instantly, turning into countless tiny ice crystals, which then dissipated.
Losing his balance, Steve crashed heavily to the floor.
Bang!
Coulson was so distressed that his face turned pale.
"Team leader!"
He let out a distorted scream, and without hesitation, he knelt down and rushed over to check Steve's breathing.
Tony took a half step back.
This isn't just a fan; this person is preparing to formally acknowledge someone as their father.
Coulson had just put his hand under Steve's nose.
The next second.
Steve, who had been lifeless, suddenly opened his eyes.
His eyes were full of vigilance, and the veins on his thick arms bulged instantly. He grabbed Coulson by the neck and slammed him hard to the ground.
"Well..."
Coulson hit the floor with the back of his head and was completely stunned.
Steve didn't stop.
With his other hand, he grabbed the Stars and Stripes shield that had just thawed, and with a sudden burst of strength from his waist and abdomen, the shield slammed into Fury beside him with a terrifying whooshing sound.
Fury's single eye suddenly narrowed.
