Chen Mo stared at the coordinates on the screen for more than ten seconds.
Nite Owl didn't urge him. He had already used all his chips, and all he could do now was wait for Chen Mo to make his choice.
The coordinates were obtained from multiple remote observations and showed no significant deviation. Unfortunately, before the Crime Syndicate could open a portal to investigate, Chen Mo arrived here first.
"Is this your last trump card?"
"More than."
The Nite Owl opened another encrypted page.
"I also have interdimensional equipment, energy models, and basic intelligence about that world. Give me time, and I can re-establish the passage."
Chen Mo glanced at the screen.
"Sounds good."
Nite Owl didn't relax. The more agreeable Chen Mo was, the more it showed that he had already made a decision.
"However, I have a problem."
Chen Mo stood up and casually put the communicator back on the table.
I don't really like having others keep my things for me.
The Nite Owl pressed his right hand to his waist.
He did not attack Chen Mo.
As the finger fell, three isolation procedures were activated simultaneously. Fine needles popped out from the inside of the helmet, preparing to sever some nerve connections, and the electromagnetic device under the seat also began to release strong pulses.
This is a method that Nite Owl specifically prepared for mind control.
But Chen Mo didn't give him time to complete the operation.
Several wisps of dark red substance shot out from the fingertips, passed through the gaps in the helmet, and pierced the back of the Nite Owl's neck.
The moment the virus touched the nerves, a flood of memories came rushing back: Crime Syndicate, Antimatter Universe, interdimensional devices, and the heroes Nite Owl had personally dealt with, even though they were villains in other worlds.
Chen Mo's consciousness delved deeper into his memories. Just then, the black crystal on the table suddenly lit up.
A blinding dim light filled the entire command room.
Nite Owl hadn't expected this turn of events. He glanced at the communicator, and the jamming device, which had been hidden under the table, activated automatically.
A transparent energy field rapidly expanded, enveloping the communicator.
"Etc!"
The Nite Owl's voice was fast, and so were its hands, but it still couldn't keep up with its opponent's moves.
The energy field had just formed when it silently extinguished. Immediately afterward, Nite Owl's body stiffened.
The nerve-isolating needle inside the helmet had been inserted, and the electromagnetic pulse had covered his brain, but all the countermeasures he had prepared had no effect.
After the flash of light, the Nite Owl's pupils quickly lost focus.
Chen Mo sensed something was wrong. The black and red substance instantly covered Nite Owl's entire body, attempting to take over his nervous system.
It was still too late.
A memory related to the person behind the scenes is rapidly disappearing from Nite Owl's mind.
That wasn't about damaging the brain, nor was it about directly eliminating the host. The other party was extremely meticulous and precise, only deleting content related to him.
For example, the communication process, the source of the mission, the method of using the black crystal, and all of Nite Owl's analysis of the person behind the scenes were wiped out at the same time.
Chen Mo forcibly intercepted several segments of memory.
But when he looked again, all he found was a meaningless blank space and a series of intermittent laughs.
Click.
A soft sound came from the desktop.
The black crystal split open from the middle, then shattered along with the outer communicator. The fragments did not scatter but turned into fine powder within seconds.
Chen Mo reached out and grabbed a handful.
The powder fell into the palm of the hand, with no energy remaining inside. Even the original structure of the manufacturing material was completely destroyed during the self-destruction process.
"Damn, they destroyed it pretty thoroughly."
Chen Mo released his grip and looked down at Nite Owl.
Nite Owl was still alive. His breathing was steady, and his heartbeat had not stopped, but his eyes were completely unfocused. Even after Chen Mo removed some of the viral tissue, he still did not react.
"Oi, what's your name?"
The Nite Owl slowly raised its head, its lips moving a few times.
"Abba, Abbababa."
Chen Mo rubbed his temples speechlessly and checked his memory again.
They then discovered that the other party had deleted more than just intelligence. To prevent Nite Owl from regaining his memories, he had directly destroyed Nite Owl's cognitive structure. His language, logic, and motor skills were all affected, leaving only the basic instincts to sustain life.
The smartest man in this Crime Syndicate has now become an idiot who doesn't even know who he is.
Chen Mo looked at the powder on the table.
The timing of the trigger was perfect. It wasn't that the Nite Owl initiated the contact, nor was the communicator dismantled; rather, the program responded and activated the instant the virus entered the brain.
Even if the other party kills Nite Owl directly, Chen Mo can still extract memories from the corpse. Therefore, Nite Owl doesn't need to die. It doesn't matter if his body is alive, but the things in his brain will disappear prematurely.
This wasn't just a simple cover-up; it seemed more like a deliberate attempt to prevent Chen Mo from devouring them.
Chen Mo re-examined Nite Owl's remaining memories but couldn't find the process of how the program was implanted. The black crystal was already present when Nite Owl first obtained the communicator. In other words, the other party had prepared this move long ago.
But that's also where the problem lies.
After Chen Mo arrived in this world, few people knew his true abilities. Those who witnessed him devouring members of the Crime Syndicate were almost all consumed by him.
There were no hidden observation devices nearby, and no spying eyes in the sensors. Moreover, the device used to erase the Nite Owl's memories was clearly not newly installed.
"Did they anticipate my move, or were they just coincidentally guarding against someone else?"
Chen Mo muttered something to himself.
No one could give him the answer.
The wise Nite Owl sat blankly in the chair, unresponsive to everything around it.
Chen Mo reached out and pressed down on the top of his head, re-extracting the remaining information.
The Justice League's coordinates are still there, and the design data for the cross-dimensional device hasn't been deleted. The other party doesn't care about these things; the only thing they don't want to leave behind is any trace related to themselves.
Chen Mo withdrew his hand and turned to look at the screen. The seven sets of coordinates were still arranged there.
"Alright, the pirated Batman is finished."
Chen Mo turned off the alarm system and copied down all the coordinate data.
"However, the last bookmark folder you sent is still usable."
The dark red substance spread from the ground and quickly took over the entire lunar base. Databases, energy systems, and remaining equipment were all brought under its control.
Chen Mo looked at the pile of powder again. Regardless of who was behind the communicator, a feud had been formed between the two sides. This matter would not end there.
On the other side.
In the depths of a dark universe composed entirely of nightmares and despair, a long-dormant device slowly goes out.
The shadowy figure wearing a dark gold mask shook its head, and a moment later, a piercing laugh began to echo.
