Chen Mo looked at Buck, who was clearly very serious, and the smile on his face slowly disappeared.
"Is it true that nobody in your area has ever received any compulsory education?"
Buck did not answer.
He finally realized that the guy in front of him was no ordinary person.
It can kill more than a dozen Bloods members in an instant, invade prosthetic bodies with a black substance that looks like flesh and blood, and stand unharmed in acid rain.
This is not a homeless person.
This is a monster created by a certain conglomerate for use in a new corporate war!
Buck gritted his teeth, and the pipes behind him began frantically injecting green medicine into him.
Under the influence of the drug, Buck, who had forgotten his fear, suddenly started the power axe, and the high-frequency vibrator on the axe blade emitted a piercing buzz.
"No matter who you are, if you dare to kill someone from the Bloods, you'd better stay here!"
He swung the axe, and the mechanical arm brought a heavy force as it cleaved towards Chen Mo.
Chen Mo stood there, stroking his chin as he watched Buck's movements.
The moment the axe blade fell, a blackish-red substance surged from his shoulder, forming a giant hand that grabbed the axe.
The rapidly vibrating alloy axe blade stopped in mid-air.
Buck pressed down with all his might, and white mist continuously sprayed from the hydraulic pipes behind him, shaking away the water beneath his feet.
But the black hand remained motionless, and even the rapidly vibrating axe blade was unable to move.
Chen Mo looked at him, her tone tinged with doubt.
"Do you guys like to announce your organization's name before you start a fight? Should I do as the locals do?"
Buck's lips twitched.
"I am Butcher Buck! The king of this underground!!"
"Oh."
Chen Mo nodded, his five fingers suddenly tightening.
The power axe immediately bent into a lump of scrap metal.
Before Buck could retreat, black and red spikes pierced through his chest, pinning him and his internal mechanical skeleton to mid-air.
He looked down at the spikes piercing his body, the light in his mechanical eyes gradually dimming.
"You..."
"Stop 'you, you, you' here."
Chen Mo raised his hand and pressed it against his head, and the Blacklight Virus quickly invaded the gaps in the prosthetic body.
"I'm in a hurry, let me borrow your memories first."
Buck's body began to convulse violently.
A few seconds later, the blackish-red substance receded from his body, and Buck vanished from the world without a trace.
Chen Mo closed his eyes and stood in the rain, sorting through the information flooding his mind.
The outer districts of Night City are divided among the Bloods, the Maelstrom, the Tyger Claws, and several large conglomerates.
The Bloods is just one of them, responsible for maintaining order and collecting corpses in the outer area, which is the slums, from Third Street to Seventh Street.
It's called maintaining order, but in reality it's just collecting taxes, arresting people, and dismantling parts.
The true masters of Night City have never been these street gangs.
Nite Owl controls the city's surveillance, financial, and security systems.
Lex Luthor controls the energy, military, prosthetics, and artificial intelligence industries.
The two men sliced the city into pieces like a cake, and the gangs were just their watchdogs.
As for someone like Buck, he's not even worthy of being called a dog.
It just means the dog food fell on the ground while the dog was eating, and I didn't notice.
Chen Mo opened his eyes, preparing to leave, when a commotion arose from both sides of the street.
Those guys who had been hiding under the eaves, not daring to even glance at Buck, all came out now.
They didn't cheer, nor did they thank Chen Mo for killing the Bloods members. Instead, they surrounded him with angry expressions, even through the puddles.
"How could you kill Buck? The Bloods won't let us get away with this!"
"What are you doing? You've ruined the balance here, and a new purge will begin soon!"
"We barely survived, why are you making decisions for us?"
Several leaders stood at the front, pointing at Chen Mo and cursing him.
Most of their prosthetic bodies were worn out, with wires wrapped around their joints and metal patches on their faces for temporary repairs.
They looked miserable, but that clearly didn't stop them from courting death in front of Chen Mo.
Chen Mo listened for a while, then suddenly laughed.
"So you mean I should just stand still and let him dismantle me into parts?"
"You can get out of Night City!"
"Yes, don't leave the trouble for us!"
"Kill him, or hand him over to the Bloods!"
The voices from the crowd grew louder and louder.
Chen Mo looked down at his palm; dark red cells were slowly flowing beneath his skin.
He initially felt sorry for these people.
It now seems that the consumables in the cyberpunk world are indeed more dynamic than ordinary consumables.
At least when they swear, their voices are very loud.
"What a cursed place! Do I look like a pushover who never fights back?"
Chen Mo lifted his foot and stomped hard into the puddle.
The entire street suddenly fell silent.
The next second, several sharp bone spikes shot out from the ground, piercing through the bodies of the people at the front.
Fresh blood mixed with engine oil splattered down.
The ringleaders were hoisted high into the air, their limbs still twitching instinctively, while the rest of the people immediately shut their mouths.
Chen Mo glanced at them.
"Those who want to live, shut up now, or I'll send you all to be reincarnated one by one."
After a long silence, Chen Mo nodded in satisfaction.
A black and red afterimage swept across the middle of the street.
By the time everyone came to their senses, Chen Mo had already disappeared.
Only a few corpses that Chen Mo disdained remained on the ground, along with a heavy armored vehicle that gleamed from the acid rain.
The Night City.
A black and red figure leaped up from below the overpass and landed steadily on the top of the bridge.
Chen Mo stood beside the cold metal railing, looking down at the city below.
A complex network of elevated roads winds through the buildings, with maglev trains trailing blue-white taillights as they traverse the landscape. Between the skyscrapers, a giant holographic woman constantly shifts poses, a standardized smile on her face, repeatedly playing advertisements for prosthetic loans and organ insurance.
The jarring electronic music drifted from deep within the block.
Acid rain fell on the advertising screen, the image flickered a few times, and then changed back to the Nite Owl Consortium logo.
Chen Mo looked at this steel jungle and grinned.
"No heroes, no justice, and just a bunch of lunatics everywhere—what series is this anyway?"
He raised his hand and touched his chin.
"However, this place seems much more interesting than Gotham."
In the distance, a patrol drone flew between the tall buildings, its red scanning light sweeping across the top of the bridge.
Chen Mo did not dodge.
The Blacklight Virus spread along the soles of his feet, silently connecting to the power lines beneath the overpass.
Some of the surveillance footage from Night City went black for a brief moment.
Chen Mo looked up at the giant tower in the very center of the inner city.
That's where the Nite Owl controls the city.
This is also the best place to start this game.
"Since we're here, let's have some fun."
As soon as he finished speaking, Chen Mo transformed into a black and red afterimage and disappeared from the top of the overpass.
The neon lights of Night City are still flashing.
But from that moment on, the city gained an unmanaged variable.
