The headquarters of the Luthor Corporation, central monitoring tower.
Thousands of holographic screens lit up simultaneously, magnifying the battle scene on the Third Street of the outer area.
Rain, puddles, corpses, and that young man standing in the middle of the street.
The image lasted for less than three seconds.
All the Bloods members fell, Buck was pierced by black and red spikes before disappearing as if he had never existed.
The artificial intelligence responsible for monitoring the city quickly retrieved the combat data.
The source of its power is unknown.
The attack method is unknown.
Energy fluctuations are unknown.
Biological structure unknown.
It played Chen Mo's video recording seventeen times, and then gave a brief report.
The target is suspected to be a new type of biological weapon with a high degree of self-repair capabilities and the ability to control unknown flesh and blood tissue. Its threat level is tentatively set as the highest.
Lex Luthor stood in front of the screen, holding a cup of unsweetened coffee.
After reading the report, instead of showing any concern, he laughed.
"Highest threat?"
The artificial intelligence did not answer; it simply slowed down the footage of Chen Mo devouring Buck.
The dark red substance seeped into Buck's body through the gaps in the prosthetic body, and a few seconds later, Buck's life and mechanical signals simultaneously dropped to zero.
Lex stared at the writhing Blacklight, his eyes gradually growing fanatical.
He likes the unknown.
To be precise, he likes to break down the unknown, put it in the laboratory, and study it layer by layer until he understands it.
If this power could be mastered, the course of the world might be rewritten.
Even the Nite Owl will lose the right to continue being on equal footing with him.
"Seal off all access routes from the outer districts to the inner city," Lex said. "Send the Obsidian elites and bring him back intact."
The artificial intelligence issued a notification sound.
"The target is extremely dangerous; remote elimination using orbital weapons is recommended."
I meant bring it back.
Lex put down his coffee, his tone cold and unyielding.
"If he dies, all I'll get is a bunch of useless tissue samples."
He paused, then the corners of his mouth turned up again.
"Only living organisms have research value."
In the shadow of another tower, the Nite Owl also watched the recording.
He gave no orders, nor did he contact Lex.
Thomas Wayne simply turned off the screen in front of him and sat in the dark, gently tapping on the table.
This sudden outsider has already killed members of the Bloods.
Now, Lex has taken the initiative to send out his team.
"Let him give it a try."
Nite Owl raised his eyes and looked at the tower in the center of the city that belonged to Lex.
"If we can catch him, it means he has a weakness. If we can't catch him..."
He paused, his face expressionless.
"Let's see how much Lex can lose."
Inner city.
Chen Mo was walking on a bustling pedestrian street.
He had just emerged from under the overpass when he was dazzled by the overwhelming holographic projections on both sides, making it difficult for him to open his eyes.
An exaggeratedly shaped virtual woman floats in mid-air, repeatedly playing advertisements for prosthetic body loans.
"Implanted today, payable in thirty years; those with good credit will also receive a free bionic eye."
The billboard next to it immediately changed.
Organ insurance ensures you live, and also guarantees your organs will continue to generate value after your death.
Chen Mo stopped under the billboard and stared at it intently for two seconds.
"The capitalists here don't even spare the dead; their business scope is quite comprehensive."
The streets are full of people with prosthetic bodies.
Some people only had simple mechanical arms, some even had their legs replaced with hydraulic structures, and one man's head was only half there, the other half covered by a transparent metal cover, with the circuitry inside constantly flashing.
Many more people don't have the money to improve themselves.
Wrapped in tattered blankets, they lay slumped in front of the store, with several electronic boards displaying requests for help next to them.
The numbers on the electronic board change every few seconds.
That's their unpaid medical bills.
Chen Mo glanced at it but didn't stop.
It's not that he lacks compassion, but rather that there are too many people on this street who need compassion.
If he were to manage everyone individually, he'd probably be crucified before he even reached the end of the street, taking Jesus's place.
Suddenly, the roar of an engine came from overhead.
A hovercar sped through the buildings, its door half-open.
A drunk man stuck his butt out and urinated downwards in a completely rude manner.
The pedestrians below screamed and scattered in all directions.
Chen Mo looked up at the departing hovercar, his expression gradually becoming uncontrollable.
"Flying cars throwing poop? Is this still Earth?"
No sooner had he finished speaking than a series of sharp, whistling sounds came from the sky.
Dozens of dark figures fell from the top of the tall building.
They wore uniform heavy exoskeletons, with miniature missiles mounted on their shoulders, high-frequency cutting blades embedded in the outside of their arms, and the Lex Corporation's silver logo printed on their chests.
boom!
The heavy metal foot slammed into the ground, shaking the entire pedestrian street.
Nearby pedestrians were stunned at first, then burst into terrified screams.
"It's the Obsidian Troops from the Luthor Corporation!"
"Run! They're going to block off the whole area!"
"Get the hell out of my way, all of you get the hell out of my way!"
The holographic projection of the girl was distorted by the impact, but the cheerful advertising music continued to play.
Dozens of agents simultaneously raised their weapons and surrounded Chen Mo.
The leader opened his faceplate, revealing a face covered in metal wires.
"Unknown creature, immediately cease resistance and submit to the Lex Corporation's recovery and inspection."
Chen Mo glanced at the gun barrels around him and whistled.
"Are all people from your conglomerate so bad at picking their time?"
The lead agent raised his arm, and all weapons charged simultaneously.
"Final warning, kneel down immediately."
Chen Mo lowered his eyes, and the dark red substance silently spread from the sole of his shoe.
"Forget it, I'm too lazy to talk."
The next second, all the lights on the street flashed simultaneously.
Blacklight emanated from the gaps in each agent's exoskeleton, instantly piercing through their bodies along the inside of the armor.
There was no explosion, nor any other noise.
Dozens of heavy exoskeletons vanished from the world simultaneously, along with the drivers inside.
The crowd fell completely silent.
A few seconds later, the shops on both sides of the street closed their doors at the same time, and pedestrians scrambled to escape into the distance.
Chen Mo stood amidst the wreckage, raising his hand to rub his temples.
"I was just going shopping, is it really that big of a deal?"
In the dark alleyway piled with electronic waste, a faint sound of footsteps suddenly came from.
A slender figure slowly emerged from the shadows, wading through the puddles.
She stepped on the still-electrified remains of the agent, sparks flying along the sole of her shoe.
Half of his face was hidden in the shadows, while the other half was close to Chen Mo's face.
The white-haired beauty with an oval face stared intently at Chen Mo, then grinned in an extremely exaggerated smile.
"My name is V, and I'm from the Joker Gang."
She opened her arms wide, as if giving a warm welcome.
"You just pulled off a job with Luthor, right? We can help you!"
