" Luthor's men are coming soon! But we can protect you."
Chen Mo looked at the arrogant white-haired girl in front of him and his first reaction was to laugh.
What nonsense is this? The Joker Gang? And they're protecting him?
If this statement were heard by an ordinary person, it might carry some weight.
But for Chen Mo now, even if his clones can't use much power, a single world is still as weak as an unlocked warehouse to him.
Not to mention there isn't even Justice League here.
If he really got serious, he could destroy not just one Joker Gang, but the entire Earth.
Of course, it's best to avoid taking action if possible.
After all, the locals here are quite interesting, and Chen Mo isn't someone who's easy to kill.
Chen Mo straightened up, just about to make a few teasing remarks and probe the white-haired woman's background, when she directly raised her hand to interrupt him.
"Dude, if you want to chat, you'll have to wait until later."
V turned to the side and pointed to the end of the street.
"It's not safe here. Luthor's next wave of men will definitely be here soon."
No sooner had he finished speaking than a dense mechanical sound came from afar.
A fleet of silver drones emerged from between the high-rise buildings, their red scanning beams rapidly sweeping across the street. Further away, several armored vehicles crashed through roadblocks and sped toward them.
Chen Mo glanced back at the wreckage scattered on the ground.
"Wow, for a place like this, they're quite efficient."
"Yes, that's why we need to hurry!"
Without saying a word, V turned and rushed into the dark alley next to him.
She stopped in front of a wall covered in graffiti, kicked open the metal manhole cover below, and then jumped down.
Chen Mo looked down at the dark cave entrance.
A smell wafted from below, a mixture of engine oil, sewage, and chemical waste.
"Is your Joker Gang's way of treating guests to first lead them into the sewers?"
"Idiot, if you don't want to be caught and beaten to death with a stun gun, jump down now!"
V's voice came from below.
Chen Mo shrugged and jumped down as well.
The two fell into an abandoned sewage pipe.
The space here is not spacious, with rusty pipes overhead and a layer of blackened sewage underfoot. A few broken emergency lights are stuck to the wall, their light flickering incessantly.
V moved very quickly.
She ran forward on the slippery metal platform, barely pausing as she passed several intersections, clearly very familiar with the route.
Chen Mo followed behind, but his gaze remained fixed on her.
She had short white hair, moved with agility, and had small metal connectors on half of her face. She wore no extra adornments, just a modified tactical jacket, and two short guns hung at her waist.
He doesn't look like a gang member.
He's more like a mercenary who spends his life among corpses.
"Um, I'm just curious, do you Joker Gang usually live in the sewers?"
Chen Mo asked casually.
"The rich live in high towers, the poor live in sewers—that makes perfect sense."
V didn't even turn his head.
"Who's your boss? Is he some cuckolded Joker?"
V finally turned around and glanced at him.
Our boss is called Joker.
"He really is called the Joker?"
"Yes, the Nite Owl's archenemy."
V continued forward, his tone as calm as if he were introducing a roadside restaurant.
"In this city, apart from the Joker, no one dares to openly oppose Nite Owl."
Chen Mo stroked his chin.
I see.
The Nite Owl was in charge of turning Night City into a sophisticated cage, while the Joker was in charge of smashing all the locks.
One wants to turn chaos into order, the other enjoys turning order into chaos.
These two are definitely incompatible, no matter where they are.
"So you saved me because the enemy of my enemy is my friend?"
"Almost."
V stopped in front of a broken pipe and squeezed through it sideways.
" Luthor wants to capture you, and Nite Owl won't like an uncontrollable outsider. Since you've already clashed with both of them, we have a basis for cooperation."
"Wow, you're quite honest."
"Thank you for the compliment, but I don't like wasting time."
V walked past a pile of scrap metal and looked up ahead.
"And you're very strong."
Chen Mo chuckled.
"Hanging it up and behind, that's the key point you're making, isn't it?"
V did not deny it.
"Of course, in Night City, only the strong have value and the right to negotiate."
The two ventured deeper into the area.
The sewage tunnels gradually turned into an abandoned underground transportation network, and a large number of green smiley face graffiti began to appear on the walls. Some of these smiley faces were missing an eye, some had their mouths drawn extremely large, and there were also some incomprehensible gang slogans written next to them.
Chen Mo glanced at it, his mind recalling the games he played before he transmigrated.
V.
What a coincidence!
In Cyberpunk 2077, the protagonist is also named V.
Is it just a coincidence that the names are the same here?
Or is it possible that this DC universe has actually crossed over with some video game universe?
If it's the latter, could the leader of this Joker Gang also be connected to a familiar character?
Chen Mo watched V's retreating figure, his interest piqued.
This place seems more interesting than he imagined.
"Hey? Why are you staring at me like that?"
V suddenly spoke up, saying that she had felt her buttocks getting a little hot since earlier.
You can look, but staring so intently is going too far!
"I was just thinking about a serious question."
What's the problem?
"Was your name just randomly picked from the alphabet?"
V paused for a moment, turned around and rolled her eyes at Chen Mo.
"If you want trouble, just say so."
"Don't get me wrong, I'm just curious about the cultural phenomena here."
V ignored him and pulled down the iron gate in front of him.
Behind the iron gate is a wide underground passage.
At the end of the passage, a dense array of red neon lights simultaneously illuminated, their blinding light causing Chen Mo to squint.
The two passed through the red light and found themselves in front of an abandoned underground heavy industry base.
This place used to be the Nite Owl Consortium's military factory, but it was completely sealed off after an explosion. Now, a huge mechanical arm hangs above the hall, and the floor is piled with dismantled weapons and prosthetic parts.
A group of people dressed in outlandish costumes were drinking around several modified cars.
They had smiley faces painted on their faces and their bodies covered in green and red graffiti.
Reaching the base gate, I raised my hand and pressed the identification button.
The heavy explosion-proof door slowly opened.
The door was covered in green smiley faces, one of which had its mouth drawn in an exaggerated arc, as if mocking anyone trying to enter.
Welcome to the Joker Gang.
V turned to the side and said to Chen Mo.
"I hope we can reach a cooperation agreement."
Chen Mo looked at her and grinned.
"Don't worry, I'm easy to get along with."
As soon as he finished speaking, he followed V into the heavy-duty blast door.
In the lobby, deafening heavy metal music suddenly burst forth.
