Of Cassandra's two strongest lieutenants, one was dead and the other was nowhere to be found. The remaining small fry couldn't even beat Laura's team.
Laura and Elektra joined forces like tigers descending upon a flock of sheep, and blood soon flew everywhere.
Gambit Remy stood not far away, charging playing cards and throwing them out. His throwing skills were superb: every card sliced precisely into the battlefield, disrupting the Mutants' attacks.
At some point, Blade Erik had slipped behind the Mutants and begun slaughtering them alongside Remy.
Ordinary Mutants were only so strong, and against these four, whose fighting skills had reached their peak, the battle was completely one-sided.
"Steve, are we going to fight them?"
The Winter Soldier held a submachine gun as he looked at his friend beside him.
"No, there's no need. We should even give them a hand. We can't let Cassandra's people get away."
Hydra Captain Steve shook his head.
Madame Hydra, Ophelia Sarkissian, gave Steve a somewhat surprised look. "Steve, that decision surprises me. Shouldn't we stay away from a fight between these monsters?"
"This Thor is different from the one in our universe. He's too powerful, and there's that Classic Loki too. If we leave, they might take us for remnants of Cassandra's forces."
"And this Thor feels a little different to me. He doesn't seem to care much that we're Hydra, and he wasn't even surprised that I became Hydra Captain. If we help them, there's a good chance we'll survive."
Madame Hydra Ophelia gave him a cool glance, her tone cold and detached:
"Since staying alive is our first priority, we'll do as you wish.
But remember, Hydra has no allies, only those who use and those who are used."
She immediately pulled a long whip from her waist and lashed it at a Mutant trying to flee in the distance.
Crack!
The whip landed squarely on the fleeing Mutant's back, tearing his flesh open in an instant. The poison on it quickly entered his body through the wound.
The unlucky Mutant had just gotten up and tried to flee when his legs suddenly gave out. He collapsed to the ground and convulsed for a full minute before foaming at the mouth and dying.
Meanwhile...
On the real main battlefield, Cassandra casually wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth and waved a hand over the horrifying, charred hole in her chest. Her grievously wounded body quickly healed.
She tilted her head at Thor, but didn't attack right away. Instead, she began reminiscing. "You're different from the toys I've met before. You're special."
"Over the years, plenty of insects who didn't know their place have tried to challenge me, and they all ended up as part of my collection. There were people who could grow and shrink, a magician who did acrobatics, and a few big red, green, and purple guys."
"I've killed plenty of Asgardians too. I've killed no fewer than ten Thors, but this is the first time I've met one as special as you."
"I've decided to give you better treatment. You don't have to be one of my toys or collectibles. I'll allow you to be my pet and plaything instead. What do you say, Thor? I'm treating you specially enough, aren't I?"
Cassandra licked her lips, looking seductive and every bit the mistress.
For a moment, Thor didn't know what to say. All he could do was marvel. I really don't understand the world of the mentally ill. Compared to this guy, Thanos, that director of the universe's family planning commission, is practically a saint!
He even made sure killing people was painless! He's just too kind!
"Cassandra, Charles abandoned you."
"You're trying to provoke me."
Cassandra narrowed her eyes.
"Charles abandoned you."
"Thor, I'm giving you one last chance. Be my pet or become a pile of bones. My patience has limits, darling."
"Charles abandoned you. Charles doesn't even know who you are."
"Very well, Thor. I hope you've already chosen your grave."
Cassandra was utterly enraged. A terrifying telekinetic storm began to gather, reaching a hundred meters in diameter and fully forming in the span of a few breaths.
At that moment, the mental power belonging to Charles Xavier, Professor X, the great hero of the Mutant universe, erupted at full force. Cassandra demonstrated exactly why Professor X was one of the most powerful telepaths and Mutants on Earth!
Gambit Remy stared at the terrifying storm that had formed in the blink of an eye, then glanced back at Emma Frost and Betsy. "The professor really is a good man. With power that terrifying, he's still willing to be reasonable and work for peace."
Emma Frost's pupils contracted sharply. This storm was countless levels stronger than the one she and Betsy had faced when they joined forces against Cassandra.
Had Charles possessed this kind of power all along?
Betsy glanced at Groot beside her, who was wielding a hammer several times his own height and frantically smashing people over the head with it. Then she looked at the storm in the sky.
She had always known the professor was strong, but she hadn't expected him to be this strong. Thor had told them before that Cassandra was a purely psychic entity. When she tried to kill the professor in the womb, he killed her instead, but she had also copied his abilities.
And the reason Cassandra was so strong was that she had copied the professor's Mutant abilities and was far more unscrupulous.
She was very glad that the professor in her universe was a good man. Otherwise, she truly couldn't think of any way to deal with him.
She could already imagine how terrifying a Professor X, Charles Xavier, with no limits, no morals, and no scruples would be!
And Cassandra, the professor's sister, was the perfect example!
Seeing this, Thor's silence was deafening. He didn't know what to say. Cassandra really did have a pointy head. Was she seriously using a storm against the God of Thunder?
He might be called Thor, the God of Thunder, but controlling the weather and storms was also part of his authority. Cassandra was far too friendly. Not only had she sold out her teammates as soon as they met, she was even stacking buffs on him!
He had never had a game go this smoothly!
On top of that, Cassandra had been using telekinesis the whole time, and he had absorbed every telekinesis fragment she dropped. His telekinesis was now no weaker than that of the bald woman in front of him.
Thor truly understood just how overpowered his Heaven-Defying Comprehension cheat was.
It was one thing to absorb and comprehend law fragments, but he could also comprehend and even master abilities used by others. It was just that the fragments dropped by others didn't seem to be law fragments.
If he had to draw a distinction, they would be ability fragments.
However, he had also figured out that there seemed to be a clear division when it came to comprehending other people's abilities. He could quickly learn the mental powers, abilities, and magic used by Emma Frost, Betsy, Loki, and the others, but once it involved physical constitutions, it seemed he was out of luck.
Thor had even sought Laura out earlier to see if he could comprehend her insane healing ability, only to discover that when she used it, she didn't drop any fragments!
That put Fat Tiger in a bit of a bind!
After all, who wouldn't want a healing ability that could practically be called a law?
Did having the Law of Life mean he couldn't have self-healing too?
More methods meant more options. That was the only truth.
Besides, using the Law of Life required his divine power, while the healing abilities of Wolverine, Deadpool, and Laura were entirely passive.
As a gamer, having active skills alone wasn't enough. He needed passive skills too, yet he couldn't comprehend a passive skill that was so close at hand!
What was that about?
Wasn't that like a duck about to enter his mouth suddenly coming back to life, slapping him, and running away?
He had never imagined that Heaven-Defying Comprehension would have such a fucking limitation!
"Thor, don't worry. I'll take good care of your corpse."
Cassandra finally finished gathering the terrifying storm. Ant-Man's enormous corpse was lifted by its dreadful suction and, in the blink of an eye, sliced into one huge bone after another, until it was reduced to bone dust that filled the sky.
Countless clouds of dust, yellow sand, rubble, and debris rose from the ground, rapidly swelling the hurricane until it was over five hundred meters across.
The sky went completely dark. Visibility blurred, and fragments of stone filled the air. Even though Elektra and the others stood at a safe distance, the fierce wind and flying stones still carved bloody streaks across their bodies.
Under power of this magnitude, the normally gentle, yielding wind became countless razor-sharp blades, furiously slicing through everything in sight.
Thor watched the storm racing toward him and advanced rather than retreated. The distance between them rapidly closed until he extended a finger and gently pressed it against the hurricane, less than a centimeter in front of him.
The wind stopped.
Thor happily collected his buff and burst out laughing, without the slightest regard for the occasion.
"Cassandra, you're a genius!"
"Using a storm against the God of Thunder? You're a real smart one!"
The next second, the hurricane turned and rushed toward Cassandra, laced with countless violent bolts of lightning.
The thunderstorm had arrived!
"I am Thor, the God of Thunder. I come with the storm, bringing the wrath of the gods!"
