Power Progression

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Rune King state — before Knowhere 323 Retrospectively recalls severing the Loom of Fate and driving back Those Who Sit Above in Shadow. This is a past achievement, not a new breakthrough during the zombie crisis.
Injured state; initial Law of Time fragment 3 Cannot restore his peak condition, but pauses his injuries to prevent further deterioration.
Law of Life comprehension 4 Removes the cracks covering his body and restores approximately five to six tons of physical strength, along with a small amount of divine power.
Early Law of Mind development 4 6 Gains basic telepathy. After absorbing three Mind fragments, his psychic detection range reaches approximately 800 meters.
Expanded law-fragment sensing 7 Heaven-Defying Comprehension allows him to locate fragments within roughly one kilometer.
Additional Time, Life, and Creation fragments 15 Begins absorbing Emma’s payment: three Time fragments, two Life fragments, and one Creation fragment.
Highfather-Level pressure 19 His glance suppresses Kid Loki through divine pressure, law power, and battlefield killing intent.
Law of Power enhancement 24 Multiplies his body’s original strength of approximately 10,000 tons several times over.
Complete Time and Reality laws; peak-Odin comparison 43 States that he has mastered both laws and that his power rivals Odin at his peak. Creates an Uru Stormbreaker replica, though it cannot summon the Bifrost.
One-third → two-thirds of the Law of Power 46 47 Studies Thanos’s Power Stone attacks during combat. Time manipulation accelerates his comprehension.
Complete Law of Power 47 Gains inexhaustible strength and energy and ceases to tire. Begins studying the Law of Space through Thanos’s spatial attacks.
Near Universe Level 49 Classic Loki identifies him as one step from the next realm; Thor explicitly expects to reach Universe Level soon.
Six Infinity Stone laws mastered; personal Law of Thunder 56 Completes the six Stone laws and integrates them into his own thunder authority. Lightning can revive the recently dead or carry effects such as freezing, corrosion, spatial cutting, and time suspension.
Phoenix Force and further law development 93 Gains the Phoenix Force; studies destruction, rebirth, life, emotion, and creation, with faint initial comprehension of chaos and order. Mutant abilities also improve his elemental and energy laws.
Peak Universe Level 120 Completely comprehends the laws on All-Black the Necrosword and the Black Vortex, reaching the threshold of Multiverse Level.
Multiverse Level 141 Explicitly breaks through into the realm.
Initial Law of Void comprehension 278 Adds his newly developing understanding of the void to the laws channeled through Stormbreaker against Darkseid.
Darkness and Devouring laws mastered 330 Learns Knull’s laws almost instantly during their battle and incorporates them into his lightning.
God of Light transformation 331 332 Receives the Enigma Force. His comprehension is amplified hundreds or thousands of times, allowing him to analyze and increasingly counter Knull.
Late Multiverse Level 338 Extracts power from the departing Enigma Force, retains a rudimentary Law of Light, and gains a golden battle-axe with greater potential than Stormbreaker.
Cancerverse negative-law acquisition 442 Uses Four-Armed Hulk as a live research subject, absorbing and mastering most of the negative laws surrounding its attacks before erasing it.
Megaverse Level 463 Uses Devouring and Destruction to assimilate vast quantities of destructive energy, breaking the Multiverse-Level barrier.
Stabilized Megaverse threshold 464 Deliberately stops his ascent before Omniverse Level and consolidates his power at the entrance to Megaverse Level.

Background / History

Thor possesses memories of a previous life in which he knew Marvel stories. He is unsure whether he entered the body of a dying Thor or had lived as Thor for millennia before those memories awakened at death. He ultimately decides that the distinction matters less than living according to his own wishes 13.

Before his recovery on Knowhere, he stopped Ragnarok by fighting Surtur, Fenris, the Midgard Serpent, Hela, and their forces alone. The battle destroyed his original Mjolnir and left his body severely damaged 3 67. His later recollection also establishes that he had wielded a Rune King state against Those Who Sit Above in Shadow 323.

On Knowhere, law fragments become the means of rebuilding his strength. His ability to assimilate them eventually extends beyond recovery: Valeria discovers that his blood exhibits an unprecedented capacity to absorb and integrate laws from other dimensions 4 7 38.

Appearance

  • Build and hair: A tall, muscular man with long blond hair, swept back in his appearance at the survivors’ underground base 7 137.
  • Divine manifestations: Multicolored lightning coils around his body and shines in his eyes; his blood is golden 19 330.
  • Early armor: Initially lacks the cape and helmet seen on Laura’s Thor outfit. Later manifests full armor and a black cape through his powers 29 43.
  • Traditional Asgardian outfit: Also uses silver armor plates over black underlayers with a red cape 223.
  • God of Light form: Wears divine armor woven from black-and-gold light, marked with flowing ancient runes 331 332.
  • Variable size: Can enlarge himself from human scale to match Arishem’s colossal body 110.

Personality

Thor is irreverent, provocative, and fond of pranks. He mocks Loki as the “God of Assassins,” recolors the Prime Universe Thor’s Mjolnir pink, and creates an electrical monitor to punish that variant’s inactivity 19 69 117. His attempts to conceal his strength are less convincing: Strange catches inconsistencies in his performance, and Thor admits to himself that his acting needs improvement 326.

His teasing coexists with a strong attachment to family. When Loki sincerely invokes Asgard’s royal rites, Thor abandons the joke, formally acknowledges him as his brother, and promises protection. He later gives Classic Loki space to reunite with Odin and Frigga rather than intruding on the moment 20 66.

He is pragmatic about both rescue and recruitment. He openly admits that saving Classic Loki also serves his need for powerful allies, bargains for Strange Supreme’s future help, and offers displaced survivors a place in Frost City 22 148 281. Against enemies, he is frequently lethal: he destroys Corvus Glaive’s resurrection-dependent weapon along with its owner and states that he has no habit of sparing opponents 49.

Despite his confidence, Thor recognizes overwhelming threats. He accepts retreat as sensible, reacts defensively to Lucifer, and later consolidates his realm instead of pursuing an immediate, unstable rise toward Omniverse Level 197 321 464. He also dislikes administrative work, explaining that ruling everything as a dictator would demand far more effort than killing villains 417.

Abilities & Skills

Heaven-Defying Comprehension

Thor’s central advantage is the ability to perceive, absorb, analyze, and assimilate laws rather than merely borrow the effects of an artifact 7 38.

  • Fragment detection: Initially senses law fragments within approximately one kilometer 7.
  • Combat learning: Comprehends the Power Stone’s law while fighting Thanos and learns Knull’s Darkness and Devouring laws under attack 47 330.
  • Time-assisted analysis: Uses the Law of Time to accelerate comprehension 47.
  • Enigma Force amplification: Temporarily increases his analytical ability hundreds or thousands of times over 332.
  • Limits: Cannot initially decipher the rules within Lucifer’s cigarette smoke; acquiring laws also does not immediately overcome a sufficiently large power gap 198 330.

Thunder and Divine Power

Thor develops a personal Law of Thunder and uses it as the framework for combining other laws 56 127.

  • Changes Knowhere’s weather and produces planet-spanning thunderstorms 21 47.
  • Adds freezing, corrosion, spatial cutting, and time-pause effects to lightning 56.
  • Channels more than thirty cosmic laws through an axe strike powerful enough to erase a universe and its timeline 330.
  • Uses precise golden lightning to strike weaknesses in Four-Armed Hulk’s law constructs, then erases the creature with a speck of lightning 442.

Time and Space Manipulation

  • Injury suspension: Stops existing wounds from worsening before he can heal them 3.
  • Temporal restoration: Repairs Valeria’s damaged laboratory with the Law of Time 198.
  • Time anchor: Establishes a personal fallback before facing Thanos’s strongest attacks 47.
  • Portals and teleportation: Moves between universes, transports groups, and retrieves distant survivors 43 49 336.
  • Spatial confinement: Traps Deadpool in a barrier and relocates the cage into folded space 58.
  • Training acceleration: Creates an area where ten years pass for every minute outside 251.
  • Large-scale reversal: After Knull’s death, considers restoring the devastated universe through time reversal; Tetiyu stops him because doing so would attract hostile guardians 336.

Life, Healing, and Resurrection

  • Regenerates his own injuries and heals others through the Law of Life 4 43 198.
  • Combines thunder with resurrection effects for those who have only recently died 56.
  • Restores Christine Palmer’s soul and resurrects Wanda’s parents 188 289.
  • Secretly extends Jane Foster’s parents’ lifespans to the planet’s permitted limit 310.
  • Heals groups of injured survivors with a widespread release of life power 336.

Reality, Creation, and Transformation

  • Creates an Uru weapon matching Stormbreaker’s appearance and cutting ability, but initially cannot reproduce its Bifrost function 43.
  • Uses Reality, Creation, and Existence to build a Terraria-inspired region outside Frost City, including biomes, monsters, a dungeon, an inland sea, floating islands, and underground regions 233.
  • Reshapes himself into Thomas Wayne so completely that the change encompasses his soul and aura 398.
  • Cancels Hela’s Six Infinity Stones attack through his command of their corresponding laws 308.

Telepathy and Magic

  • Reads ordinary minds and people with weak mental resistance; his early telepathy is explicitly less developed than Emma’s 4.
  • Detects psychic traces and identifies Cassandra’s distinctive mental power 19.
  • Secretly learns and improves Sylvie’s possession magic 30.
  • Uses the Mirror Dimension and golden portals 43.
  • Calms Female Thor through mental influence 98.

Empowerment and Training

Thor can strengthen others directly, through enchantments, or by altering their access to power.

  • Enchants Zombie Thor’s Mjolnir so Felicia can wield it and become Mighty Thor 145.
  • Grants Kryptonian powers to allied vigilantes and Shayera, prompting Batman to consider the possibility of a Kryptonian army 214.
  • Temporarily severs Barry’s connection to the Speed Force for training 251.
  • Secretly increases Jane Foster’s physical abilities to the equivalent of fifty Captain Americas and develops her intellect 310.
  • Bestows divine thunder power on a group of surviving heroes 326.

Energy Absorption and Erasure

  • Uses the Law of Oblivion to erase Thanos’s remaining subordinates and their weapons 49.
  • Absorbs hostile laws and turns them to his own use during the battle with Knull 333.
  • Combines Devouring and Destruction to assimilate energy sufficient for his Megaverse breakthrough 463.
  • Erases the drained puppet Bruce Banner from the ruins of time after Banner regains consciousness 464.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Original Mjolnir — Destroyed while stopping Ragnarok. Returns across space and time during the confrontation with Knull and becomes a component of his new axe 67 331.
  • Reality-created Stormbreaker — An Uru replica with formidable cutting power but no Bifrost ability. Destroyed during the battle with Thanos 43 47.
  • Stormbreaker — A king-class weapon requested from the Prime Universe’s Odin because Mjolnir can no longer contain Thor’s power. Thor asks Eitri to make it integrate and maximize his many laws; he later wields it against Arishem and Knull 67 69 109 330.
  • Golden Battle Axe — Forged from Mjolnir’s core, Silver Surfer’s board, and the Enigma Force. Has a black body, a molten-gold blade, and silver patterns along its haft; replaces Stormbreaker as his principal weapon 338 448.
  • All-Black the Necrosword — Acquired during his search for powerful artifacts. Its laws contribute to his rise to peak Universe Level, and he subsequently carries it into battle preparations 119 120 122.
  • Black Vortex — Studies and masters its laws alongside those of All-Black 120.
  • Sling Ring — Examines one after Laura acquires a variant Mjolnir 29.
  • Transforming armor/mech — Replaces its reactor with a larger unit and transforms into a giant black-and-gold mech for the advance on Metropolis 358.
  • Doomsday-virus cure serum — Supplies allies with doses capable of restoring infected victims and explains their combat application 358.
  • Eternity Crystal — Offers Immortus’s crystal as a substitute for Loki’s time-anchor duty. Loki estimates that several hundred would be necessary 468.

Relationships

  • Loki, future God of Stories — A variant Thor formally accepts as his brother. He supports Loki’s path to the end of time and later tries to free him from the burden of anchoring every universe’s timelines 20 22 468.
  • Classic Loki — Powerful ally whom Thor persuades to keep living and save endangered Asgards. Thor arranges a weapon for him and later searches for him after his disappearance 22 67 313 323.
  • Emma Frost — Lover and Frost City’s principal administrator. Their partnership begins with law-fragment bargains; she later demands a successor or administrative help and openly asserts her claim on him 15 38 86 188.
  • Betsy Braddock / Elizabeth — Early companion and lover who accompanies him across universes. Her jealousy over Emma repeatedly causes conflict 3 15 43 58 86 429.
  • Wanda — Romantic partner whom he names Sorcerer Supreme. He resurrects her parents, reassures her about their relationship, and agrees to try for a child despite warning that conception may be difficult for him 114 289.
  • Valeria Richards — Researcher and organizer whose work supports his operations. She studies his law-absorption ability, while his habit of abruptly collecting her for emergencies becomes a recurring point of contention 38 137 185 429.
  • Groot — Resurrected companion whom Thor helps grow stronger and reunite with the Guardians of the Galaxy 15 23 49.
  • Doctor Strange Supreme — Recruited through Thor’s promise to resurrect Christine Palmer. Strange later thanks him for restoring her soul and saving her universe 148 188.
  • Death / Tetiyu — Cosmic associate and traveling companion. Thor accepts her agreement to overlook his interference in exchange for his soul after death; she later saves him from Zombie Phoenix and warns him against repairing a targeted universe 156 334 336 338.
  • America — Agrees to travel with him after he promises to help find her two mothers. Her portals remain usable even after Lucifer warns Thor against destructive crossings 156 198.
  • Odin and Frigga of the Prime Universe — Alternate-universe parental figures. Odin grants his Stormbreaker request, while Frigga welcomes him and Classic Loki as her children 66 67 71.
  • Prime Universe Thor — A much weaker counterpart whom Thor alternately advises, humiliates, and pushes toward training 68 69 117.
  • Jane Foster of his original universe — Former girlfriend. Thor ends their relationship, then secretly enhances her abilities and helps her parents as final compensation 308 310.
  • Hela of his original universe — Surrenders after her Infinity Stone attack fails, acknowledges him as king, and chooses to leave with him 308 310.
  • Heimdall and Valkyrie — Surviving Asgardians who choose to follow him; Heimdall explicitly ties his duty to protecting Thor as king 301 310.
  • Lucifer — Overwhelmingly dangerous figure who warns Thor against forcing entry into the DC Universe or bringing Loki and Franklin there 197 198.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Recovery on Knowhere

Thor searches for law fragments while rebuilding his damaged body and establishing alliances with Emma, Betsy, Groot, and other displaced characters. Cassandra’s forces compete for the same resources 3 4 15 19.

Classic Loki lures him with counterfeit fragments, leading to Loki’s formal petition for aid. Thor accepts him as family and later sends him toward his own destiny at the end of time 19 20 22. His conflict with Cassandra also creates friction with Emma: an agreement to leave Cassandra alive is broken when Thor blasts her into nothing 38.

The Guardians and the Infinity Stone Laws

Thor travels with Groot, Betsy, and Classic Loki to rescue the Guardians. Fighting Thanos becomes both a rescue operation and a chance to comprehend the Power and Space laws through direct exposure 43 45 47.

After saving the team, he heads to Vormir and continues collecting the laws associated with the Infinity Stones. By his return, he has mastered all six and integrated them with his thunder authority 49 56.

Prime Universe Asgard and Earth

Thor and Classic Loki intervene during the Dark Elf invasion. Their strength astonishes the local heroes and royal family, and Thor secures Odin’s agreement to provide Stormbreaker 64 66 67.

He later relieves Odin and the Ancient One against Arishem and defeats seven Celestials. After the Ancient One’s death, he appoints Wanda Sorcerer Supreme 109 114. Acquiring All-Black and studying the Black Vortex bring him to peak Universe Level before he faces the next crisis involving Thanos and dimensional demon gods 120 126 127.

Multiversal Rescue and Frost City

After entering Multiverse Level, Thor agrees to help Uatu oppose Infinity Ultron and recruits Strange Supreme with the promise of Christine’s resurrection 141 148. He also bargains with Death and persuades America to accompany him 156.

Frost City becomes a destination for recruits and refugees. Thor considers building a corps from powerful mutant and Thor variants, creates its Terraria-inspired adventure region, and offers displaced Justice League survivors either work in the city or settlement in another universe 188 233 281. Later, many DC refugees apply for permanent residency or purchase land because they regard the city as home 397.

Return to His Original Universe

Thor defeats Hela despite her possession of all Six Infinity Stones and learns that Kang wants him eliminated as an obstacle to a larger scheme 308.

He breaks up with Jane, quietly leaves her lasting benefits, and departs with Hela and several surviving Asgardians. Heimdall, Valkyrie, Amora, and Lorelei choose to follow him; Angela chooses independence 308 310.

Knull and Zombie Phoenix

Searching for Classic Loki leads Thor into a zombie-stricken universe. Loki reveals that an unknown force displaced him after he investigated entities feeding on Ragnarok, which Thor identifies with Those Who Sit Above in Shadow 313 315 323.

Thor initially cannot defeat Knull despite mastering his Darkness and Devouring laws. The Enigma Force transforms him into the God of Light, enabling him to counter and kill Knull 330 331 332 333. Zombie Phoenix subsequently overwhelms him, and Tetiyu intervenes before she can eat him 334 338.

He retrieves and heals the survivors but abandons plans to restore the universe’s timeline after Tetiyu warns that doing so would draw its guardians against him 336. Extracting power from the departing Enigma Force leaves him at late Multiverse Level 338.

Dark Multiverse Campaign

Thor joins the advance on Metropolis against the Devastator’s forces, distributing Doomsday-virus cure serum and deploying his giant mech 358. At the World Forge, he discusses the surviving heroes with Bruce and sends him toward the lava to retrieve Element X 376.

Kang, the Ruins of Time, and Megaverse Level

When Morgan Stark, Peter Parker, and Sentry disappear, Thor orders a coordinated investigation while reserving the final intervention for himself 429. During the subsequent Cancerverse conflict, he studies Four-Armed Hulk’s laws and tracks an observer to a Kang variant who blames Immortus 442.

At the ruins of time, he attempts to stop OBA’s corruption of Earth-616’s Bruce Banner, but his axe fails to sever the connection 462. He then changes his approach to advancement, assimilating destructive energy to reach Megaverse Level and deliberately consolidating rather than pushing directly toward Omniverse Level 463 464.

After the battle, Thor learns that Loki is now the indispensable anchor for every universe’s timelines. His Eternity Crystal cannot replace that burden, so he leaves with Franklin, Wanda, and Jean while Loki remains behind, hoping Thor will soon reach Omniverse Level 468.
