Looking at the massive melee in the distance, Thor had to admit that, as expected of Captain America variants, none of them were weak.
Then came the most ridiculous part. After the shockwave sent the two shields flying, they struck the vehicles belonging to Cassandra's men and bounced right back into their owners' hands.
"Marvel really isn't a place that cares about science. Even Newton would shake his head if he came here."
"Hm?!"
As Thor watched the melee in the distance with great interest, he scanned the surroundings from time to time, hoping to find law fragments no one else had noticed.
One look nearly made his eyes pop out.
Thanks to his heaven-defying comprehension golden finger, he could not only absorb these law fragments but also sense their approximate locations, although his range was currently only about a kilometer.
And now, there were actually seven or eight law fragments in the jeep Pyro was in. Could Cassandra have discovered what these things were good for too?
He hadn't planned to get involved, intending only to watch, pick up anything others missed, and scavenge some supplies. But now it seemed he had no choice.
Those were the foundation of his progress, important tools for restoring his strength!
"Emma, let's make a deal."
"Oh? What kind of deal?" Emma Frost turned to look at Thor beside her, a little interested. This guy really did understand her.
"Help me take out Cassandra's people, and once I've recovered my strength, I'll help you cause trouble for the Time Variance Authority."
"Okay." Emma Frost agreed without a second thought. Even at her peak, she had fallen into the Time Variance Authority's hands through a moment of carelessness and been thrown into this junkyard. Now that someone was willing to help her cause trouble for them, how could she refuse?
"Elizabeth, I'll help you remake your original body, using your soul as the foundation to create a body that truly belongs to you."
"I'll free you from Kwannon's shell completely, so you can become the real Elizabeth 'Betsy' Braddock again."
Elizabeth's body trembled when she heard that. Then she slowly turned to face Thor. His expression was sincere, with no trace of a lie. He was clearly speaking from the heart.
A faint glimmer appeared in her previously impassive eyes. Only after a long while did she utter a single word:
"Okay."
Emma Frost was finding Asgard's God of Thunder more and more interesting. She had looked into Elizabeth's problem too. With Elizabeth's mental powers, she could indeed take over someone else's body at will, but using her soul as the foundation to remake her original body, as this big oaf had said...
A method like that was completely beyond the human realm.
According to Norse mythology, the God of Thunder had no such authority. So he still had to rely on those crystal stones, then?
"Good. I'll go first. Just make sure none of them get away."
Lightning flickered in Thor's eyes. A pale blue vortex swallowed him whole, and he vanished in an instant.
Seeing that his accomplices still couldn't take these people down, Pyro grew uncharacteristically irritated. He grabbed his flamethrower and jumped out of the vehicle.
He pulled the trigger in Hydra Captain's direction.
Boom!
A column of flame as thick as a man's thigh roared out, blasting straight toward Hydra Captain, who was locked in combat with Sabretooth.
Hydra Captain was immensely experienced in combat. He flipped in midair and used the momentum to kick Sabretooth away, putting him directly in the path of the oncoming flames.
Sizzle! Sizzle!
Sabretooth's whole body was burned black as charcoal, giving off the aroma of roasted meat.
He slowly climbed to his feet and cursed furiously in Pyro's direction. "Fuck you!..."
The Winter Soldier seized the opportunity to rush forward, twist at the waist and hips, and punch Sabretooth more than ten meters away.
With Pyro's arrival, the previously even battles involving Hydra Captain and Captain Carter's team had all turned one-sided.
Wielding his flamethrower, Pyro was like a fire god descended to earth. Countless birds made of flame flew toward Hydra Captain, Captain Carter, and the others.
He also swung two long whips formed from flames in his hands.
Hydra Captain and Captain Carter became the main force holding the enemy back, since the others couldn't withstand flame attacks of that intensity.
The Winter Soldier remained on guard against the elusive Azazel, never giving him a chance to launch a sneak attack.
Iron Fist held off Meatball, Callisto, and Arclight alone, several bloody wounds now marking his body.
Baron Zemo, Crossbones, Natasha, and Madame Hydra struggled to resist the attacks of Lady Deathstrike, Bullseye, and Sabretooth.
Locked in fierce combat, none of them noticed the sky suddenly darken, or the wisps of pale blue and pure white lightning coursing between the dark clouds.
Rumble!
A bolt of lightning as thick as a man's arm struck in an instant, crashing straight down on Pyro as he controlled the flames.
Pyro had only just sensed that something was wrong when the lightning struck him squarely, leaving him standing there, charred black from head to toe.
Swish!
Immediately afterward, a reddish-white blade of lightning flashed past, slicing Pyro's body in two. The halves fell to the ground with a dull thud.
The sudden turn of events brought the fierce fighting across the battlefield to a halt.
Sensing danger, Azazel was about to flee when he found himself held in place. Then he saw a blond figure in a white suit approaching him, accompanied by Elizabeth in a battle suit with a high slit.
"Azazel, long time no see."
Emma Frost walked up to Azazel in her high heels and looked at her former colleague and enemy, an amused smile curling her lips.
"Emma, let me go. We have no personal grudge."
Azazel hurriedly pleaded in his mind. He didn't have a helmet like Magneto's or Juggernaut's to block mental powers. Against telepathic Mutants, he was a sitting duck.
Hearing Azazel's plea, Emma Frost smiled and glanced at him. "No," she said lightly, her tone playful. "I just made a deal with a god. Backing out of a deal on my own isn't my style. You know me, Azazel."
"A god? Someone who got sent to this junkyard can be called a god?"
Azazel spoke with disdain. Cassandra had killed who knew how many people who called themselves gods. So-called gods were really just slightly stronger humans.
"Oh? Then you're going to be disappointed. The god I made a deal with is a little different."
Azazel's expression changed. As her former colleague, he knew Emma Frost's ways well. She never went back on her word.
While the two former Hellfire Club colleagues were catching up, Thor had killed Pyro in a single exchange. Hydra Captain recognized the newcomer as well. Though he didn't know why Thor was helping him, for the moment he was a friend rather than an enemy.
He quickly signaled his team to stop attacking.
Seeing this, Captain Carter regrouped with Iron Fist and Natasha.
Sabretooth, Lady Deathstrike, Meatball, Callisto, Bullseye, and Arclight gathered together, their expressions grave as they looked at the enemy who had suddenly appeared before them.
"Who are you? Why are you opposing us?"
Callisto looked at the blond, muscular man before her and asked.
"I am Thor, Son of Odin, God of Thunder."
