The Strange Formation Was Broken
After that little Halloween incident, the professors returned to where Quirrell was being held.
When Dumbledore, Snape, and the other professors got there, however, they found that Quirrell was already dead.
The implications were obvious.
Professor McGonagall looked grim, and Dumbledore wore a grave expression. After examining the dead Professor Quirrell, he said, "That coward got away in the end."
"He really came back?" Snape looked incredulous. "It's been eleven years." Dumbledore paced back and forth in thought before making a suggestion. "It would be best not to let the children know. Let's say Professor Quirrell was dismissed."
"We'll have to find another professor..."
Meanwhile, in Gryffindor, Fred and George were vividly recounting their firsthand experience of Quirrell releasing the Troll that night. They gestured wildly as they told the story.
Although some people had been able to see the footage on their phones, most didn't have one. Those people sat in the common room, listening with relish as the twins embellished their story.
After all that, everyone was even more convinced that the information shared in the group was true. They regarded the phones as tools for prophecy, like Professor Trelawney's crystal ball. Some students, of course, thought they were far more accurate than a crystal ball.
Hermione, meanwhile, had spent a long time studying the device without figuring out how an electronic product like it had gotten into Hogwarts and still worked. And who had sent it? For what purpose?
Hermione, who tended to get fixated on things, had lost quite a bit of hair over her research, though she still had an enviable amount.
Of course, Hermione wasn't the only one looking into it. Some professors were studying it too.
Professor McGonagall had noticed that the people in the group seemed particularly active at a certain time, and they often said things she still couldn't understand. She could make sense of topics like Harry and the Philosopher's Stone, but... what did it mean that the Harry Potter film crew couldn't afford its electricity bill?
They also frequently talked about one person.
Sirius Black.
At present, the Ministry of Magic and most people regarded him as a criminal guilty of terrible crimes, because he was the one who had betrayed Lily and James.
But why did they say Peter Pettigrew was the real culprit?
A trace of doubt arose in McGonagall's mind. Because of what had happened with Quirrell, she was inclined to place some trust in these so-called fans. Some of the things they said were indeed true and had come to pass, such as Harry joining the Quidditch team.
And...
They also seemed completely unaware that the very people they talked about were right there among them. McGonagall fell into thought as she looked at some excessively outrageous comments that had been censored.
The only thing she could tell for certain was that this device clearly came from the future. At present, neither the wizarding nor the Muggle world possessed the technology to produce something so advanced.
Since it came from the future, what these people said was much more credible. If they were talking about their future, then why couldn't they prevent some tragedies before they happened... Professor McGonagall's face was full of weariness.
Lily, James...
Kerun: My daily question: when can I transmigrate to Hogwarts and become a wizard?
James-Brand Shampoo: Daily question: when will my owl deliver my acceptance letter?
Ron Seafood Wholesale Market: Maybe customs seized it. Look forward to a pigeon delivering it instead lol
Harry Is Mine: Great, now it'll never get delivered.
Bug Ming: How can you expect the author to deliver it to you? /doge holding a rose
Magpie: I'm dying of laughter, help.
Kerun: Hey, don't just break the fourth wall like that lol
James-Brand Shampoo: I want to transmigrate to Hogwarts so I can beat up that guy Harold. Fuck, he's a disgrace to Ravenclaw.
Kerun: Oh right, Shampoo tested into Ravenclaw hahahahaha!
Tested?
The people watching their screens suddenly picked up on the key word.
"You can test for your house?" Cedric frowned slightly. He had always felt that what these people said wasn't quite right, like mourning people in advance, but the incident with the Troll had indeed proved they weren't wrong.
"Ced, want to ask them about it?" A friend in his year smiled and nudged Cedric's shoulder. "Maybe there'll be another surprise."
Cedric had just shaken his head, intending to say never mind, when he saw that someone in the group had beaten him to it.
Cho: You can actually test for that?
Kerun: Yes! There's an officially certified website that's pretty reliable!!
Zabini: Website?
Zabini raised an eyebrow as he held his phone. There was actually a test for finding your house? Interesting.
[Group Owner] ?: [website ]
At that moment, the group owner suddenly dropped a link at just the right time.
Bug Ming: Yep, that's right! You can also test for your Patronus and wand!
Bug Ming: I tested into Slytherin.
Magpie: I'm in Hufflepuff!
My Younger Brother Isn't as Handsome as Me: Cool! I'll try it! I'm definitely a Gryffindor!
Harry Is Mine: Ha, that's what I thought too /bitter
Knowledge Is Power: What happened?
Harry Is Mine: I got into Slytherin... /squats in a corner drawing circles.
Knowledge Is Power: ...That's a shame.
Fred eagerly tapped the link. A new page appeared, with a cool little thing spinning around in the middle, and then another page came up. It was all in English, of course, but that was no problem for these British people.
There was something about logging in, but then it disappeared? The group paid it no mind.
"I've never experienced anything like this. We can actually experience being sorted into houses again." Fred was the first to tap the house test. George added from beside him, "True, but we didn't get any of these weird questions. Look at this: night or day? So weird! Can't you pick something in between?"
"This question!" Hermione spotted a long logic problem. "This ordering problem really is a bit difficult. Is it about how important these things are to you?" The next question was the classic one: what would you do if you saw a friend cheating with a magical quill?
"Oh! You have to report them! How can anyone cheat on an exam like that?" Hermione practically shouted, making Ron jump beside her.
"Come on, Hermione, it's just a test..." Ron offered weakly. Hermione, however, said very seriously, "I think we really could come across something like that. Harry, Ron, you'd better not do it. I don't want to be the one to expose you, but of course, if you really did it, I'd be the first to report you!"
"Bloody hell..."
Harry read through the questions carefully, one by one.
George seemed to have gotten his result.
"Ha! Gryffindor, just as I thought!"
"Hufflepuff?!" Fred's voice went up an octave. "I seriously think this website's broken!"
Laughter erupted around them, and George laughed without restraint too. "Definitely! Bro! You're a complete Gryffindor!"
Ron got his result: Gryffindor. For some reason, he breathed a sigh of relief. "Everyone in the Weasley family will be in Gryffindor." Fred shot him a friendly look.
My Older Brother Is Farting: Hahahahaha! This guy got into Hufflepuff hahahahaha!!
My Younger Brother Isn't as Handsome as Me: Don't forget I'm sitting right next to you, dear brother.
With that, the brothers, who were already sitting close together, began wrestling.
It had all started as a joke, and the people around them joined in, cheering them on. Ron naturally wouldn't miss out; he was the one shouting loudest.
"Oh..."
Harry stared thoughtfully at the enormous Slytherin on his phone screen.
Hermione saw it and patted Harry on the shoulder. "It's just a website, Harry. A test can't tell you everything. Look, I got into Ravenclaw." Hermione waved her result at him; it clearly showed the blue Ravenclaw emblem. Harry seemed to feel a little better.
Meanwhile, the group was having a field day.
Harry Is Mine: See? That's why you shouldn't be too sure of yourself.
Magpie: The brothers have gone quiet. I have good reason to suspect they're fighting lol
James-Brand Shampoo: I'm dying of laughter, help.
Voldemort Wig Wholesale: I'm fucking dying.
Cedric took the test under the gaze of his fellow Hufflepuffs. Naturally, he got Hufflepuff, and he looked as though he had expected it. Then someone, unwilling to leave it at that, scrolled down the screen.
"Huh? Ced, look, isn't that you?"
Scrolling down the page revealed some portraits under the heading "Notable Alumni." Among them were a portrait of the head of Hufflepuff and one of Cedric, though he looked a little more mature than he did now.
"I don't remember having a photo like that taken?" Cedric was baffled too. The photo was in color and looked very clear.
An older student pointed to another portrait that looked somewhat familiar. "This person... looks a lot like Mr. Scamander, the author of that book about caring for Fantastic Beasts."
"Oh! You're right!"
"But he looks so much younger than he does in the photo in the book!"
"So he was this handsome when he was young!"
They scrolled farther down, and the name beneath the portrait showed that it really was the author.
Meanwhile, Harry was scrolling back and forth, curious but still a little dissatisfied. He happened to reach the alumni section below, where he saw a whole list of people he would rather not have seen.
Snape, Malfoy, and even Voldemort.
There were full profiles of them too.
"Is this... Voldemort?" Harry blurted out instinctively as he looked at the name. The people around him suddenly fell silent.
"What?" Ron seemed frightened. "Harry, you just said..."
"That person's name?" Someone swallowed involuntarily. Harry still didn't seem to realize how serious it was. "What's wrong? There's a profile of him here, even what he went through."
In the end, curiosity won out over fear.
A group of people ended up huddling together to read the account of Tom Riddle's life.
"Good heavens, he was Dumbledore's student once."
"What the heck? He was so handsome when he was young. How come he has no nose now?"
"He had a diary? What respectable person keeps a diary?"
Some were still a little afraid, so they only read a bit before losing the nerve to go on. Fred and George figured the man was dead anyway, wasn't he? It wasn't as though he could suddenly come back to life right there.
So they began making fun of him without fear.
"But why does Malfoy look so handsome here?!" Ron was indignant when he saw Malfoy in a suit beside him.
"He looks very different from how he does now, like an older version of himself," Hermione reasoned. "There are some profiles under my Ravenclaw result too. Maybe yours have them as well."
At that, Ron immediately opened his previous page and scrolled down frantically.
"Cool!! There really are!! That's me!!" Ron immediately perked up when he saw himself. "And there's Harry, Hermione, and Professor McGonagall!"
"That's Hermione when she's grown up?!" Fred's eyes widened in surprise. Hermione really did look very pretty in the profile picture. Even her front teeth were smaller, and she looked lovely when she smiled.
Hermione could hardly believe it herself.
"Harry's there too. Good heavens, why are they all grown-up versions of you? Where are Fred and I?" George scrolled down, unwilling to give up.
Fred looked dissatisfied. "Over here in Hufflepuff... even Cedric's here?! Why? Wait, this profile..."
"'In memory of this brave and upright Hufflepuff boy'... Cedric died?!"
