Background / History

Inheritance and the Saiyans

Frieza inherited the organization formerly known as the King Cold Force, while his older brother Cooler maintained a separate military power. Under Frieza, the force developed an even more vicious reputation, although it continued conducting ostensibly legitimate business 6 67 175.

He personally destroyed Planet Vegeta. The account connects his decision to Beerus’s instructions and Vegeta’s defiance, rather than treating fear of the legendary Super Saiyan as his sole motivation 6 79.

Recruitment of Turles

Frieza became interested in the Turles Crusher Corps after learning that its leader possessed a power level above 30,000. Discovering that Turles was a Saiyan prompted closer scrutiny, including questions about his attachment to the destroyed Planet Vegeta 4 5.

Turles and his crew met Frieza’s standards for valuable recruits. Frieza nevertheless distrusted the offered Tree of Might fruit enough to have Turles demonstrate its effects himself. The resulting increase from 35,000 to 38,000 did little to impress someone who already regarded their strength as insignificant beside his own 6.

Frieza arranged a meeting between Turles and Vegeta, taking visible amusement in their confrontation. He subsequently assigned Turles an A-rank promotion mission involving the Heeters Group’s takeover of Planet Karen, then entrusted him with a remote region as a potential fourth cornerstone of the force 9 11 15 32.

Slug’s Ambush and the General’s Appointment

Slug nearly killed Frieza by ambushing him while his power was sealed and preventing him from transforming. Turles intercepted the finishing attack, surprising Frieza by prioritizing his rescue 74 75.

After recovering, Frieza rejected King Cold’s attempt to undermine his relationship with Turles and ordered his father to leave. He then publicly revealed his true form and appointed Turles the force’s first general with authority over all military affairs 79.

Their private exchange acknowledged both uncomfortable truths: Frieza had destroyed the Saiyans’ homeworld, and Turles had originally joined to escape Slug. Neither allowed those admissions to end their partnership 79.

War with Cooler

Frieza wanted revenge against Cooler, but Turles urged him to weigh that desire against the force’s development and other priorities. Cooler’s eventual offensive overran unprepared bases and turned Sorbet’s territory into a major battlefield 81 88.

At Turles’s urging, Frieza personally went to the front to stabilize morale. His confrontation with Cooler exposed the consequences of never training properly: despite his tremendous power, he exhausted himself and required a Senzu Bean and Turles’s intervention 96 100.

Frieza later cleared copied soldiers away from the evacuation ship and fought Metal Cooler’s duplicates while Turles entered the Metal Planet. The planet’s destruction knocked him unconscious, and he was recovered without Turles. Believing his general had sacrificed himself, Frieza questioned whether he deserved to call himself emperor when he had been unable to prevent another rescue at such a cost 102 104 105 109.

Namek and the Silver Form’s Weaknesses

On Namek, Frieza killed Zangya, Bido, and Bujin, then confronted Jass after Elec proclaimed him the universe’s strongest warrior. He warned Son Goku away from the fighting before engaging the Heeters’ champion 182 183.

Silver Frieza initially dominated, but Jass’s escalating power and Frieza’s declining stamina reversed the battle. Jass eventually knocked him back into his normal form; Turles blocked the finishing blow and supplied another Senzu Bean 185 186 193 194.

Afterward, Frieza questioned Turles about the concealed Dragon Balls and asked whether they could grant immortality or resurrection. Turles’s warning that evil souls might lose their identities through purification visibly unsettled him, although he pretended otherwise 200.

Frieza later challenged Turles to settle which of them deserved supremacy. Their sparring exposed two flaws in Silver Form: its lengthy transformation and heavy stamina consumption. As the form faded, Frieza declared a temporary truce and vowed to become the strongest without weaknesses 212 213.

The Avengers and Baby

When Metal Cooler returned with Slug and other avengers, Frieza initially overwhelmed the attackers. Their repeated regeneration, Hirudegarn’s interference, and Ki-draining gas eventually turned the battle into an endurance trap 334 336 341.

Once the gas began dissipating, Frieza revealed Golden Form and struck the Metal Planet, severing the energy supply behind the undead army’s apparent immortality. He subsequently fought Hatchiyack, a warrior formed from accumulated resentment 343 345.

During the Baby crisis, Baby possessed Frieza and fought Granolah through his Golden body. Babidi later strengthened Frieza with dark magic; Turles’s attempt to use Spirit Fission revealed that Baby had already left him. Frieza nevertheless continued attacking alongside Granolah until Turles’s emerging silver-aura state overwhelmed them 352 357 359 361 362.

Defense of His Territory

Following a mass Galactic Patrol prison escape, Frieza ordered his forces to protect his subjects. When fugitives devastated the commercial district, he personally confronted them, furious at the destruction of his property and the humiliation of his soldiers 391 392.

During the later Demon Realm assault, he ordered Zarbon and Dodoria to defend the city while he faced Gure, Shroom, and Salsa. Upon spotting Towa and Mira, he abandoned his restraint and transformed into Golden Frieza, throwing the three attackers back with the transformation’s shockwave 424.

He refused Mira Towa’s attempted de-escalation and pressed the fused warrior with close-range attacks. Even repeated Instant Transmission failed to provide an escape from Frieza’s anticipated counters 425 426.

Appearance

  • True form: Small and sleek, with a predominantly white body, a smooth rounded head, and purple carapace-like areas on his head and body 79.
  • Eyes and blood: Scarlet eyes and purple blood 5 187.
  • Tail: Long and sufficiently dexterous to strike, restrain, and throw opponents 183 192 426.
  • Silver Form: Cold, smooth, metallic silver-white skin 185.
  • Golden Form: Dazzling golden skin, a blazing golden aura, and dark-golden lightning 343 424.
  • Regalia: Later wears a cape symbolizing his status 391.

Personality

Frieza presents himself with polished courtesy, an elegant smile, and his characteristic “Ho ho ho” laugh. He enjoys unsettling others through calculated politeness, particularly when manipulating Vegeta’s pride or testing Turles’s loyalty 5 9 11.

His recruitment policy is pragmatic rather than indiscriminately prejudiced. Although contemptuous of Saiyans, he insists that capable talent should not be overlooked. He values administrative competence as well as strength, praising Sorbet’s profitability and recognizing that Turles combines leadership with intimidating fighting power 8 31 32.

His arrogance makes defeat especially difficult to accept. Against Jass, his fixation on restoring his dignity distracts him from the enemy’s deteriorating body. Against Turles, he initially treats the title of strongest as something that must belong to him, but eventually acknowledges his stamina problem and resolves to improve 193 212 213.

Turles’s influence gradually redirects Frieza’s cruelty and ambition toward maintaining a prosperous domain. He adopts the force’s peacekeeping rhetoric and protects its population, but his motives remain mixed: public reverence delights him, attacks on commercial property feel like personal financial losses, and he still seeks universal rule 167 391 392.

Abilities & Skills

Ki Manipulation

Frieza uses concentrated beams, large energy spheres, cutting attacks, and explosive aura releases.

  • Death Beams: Fires precise rays from his fingers or eyes; uses them against individual opponents, armies of copies, and reinforced structures 187 213 336 391.
  • Death Saucers: Creates two edged Ki discs during his battle with Hirudegarn 341.
  • Death Ball: Forms massive overhead energy spheres, including a dark-golden version in Golden Form 362.
  • Large-area attacks: Vaporizes copied troops with an energy sphere that spreads into a ground-level shockwave 102.
  • Golden precision attack: Pierces the Metal Planet with a hair-thin, highly compressed ray 343.
  • Limits: His attacks can be resisted or absorbed; the resentment core’s shield swallows a Golden Death Beam 344.

Close-Quarters Combat

Frieza combines high-speed movement, direct strikes, grappling, and tail attacks.

  • Kills Bido and Bujin with punches to their abdomens 182.
  • Uses his tail to strike Jass’s wrist, seize his ankle, and throw him 183 192.
  • Stops Slug’s punch with one finger during their rematch 336.
  • Interrupts Hirudegarn’s intangibility with a precisely timed elbow strike 341.
  • Anticipates Mira Towa’s Instant Transmission exits and attacks before he can recover his position 426.

Invisible-Force Restraint

Frieza can suspend threats without touching them.

  • Holds Ki blasts, rubble, and escaped prisoners motionless in midair while moving through the devastated commercial district 392.

Transformations and Power Control

Frieza seals, releases, and transforms his power to access different combat states.

  • Originally suppresses his true form because its power is difficult to control 79.
  • Silver Form provides tremendous offensive strength but initially suffers from a slow activation and severe stamina drain 212 213.
  • Golden Form’s release alone sends three Dark Dragon Ball-enhanced warriors flying 424.
  • He is not immune to external interference: Ki-draining gas weakens him, while Baby’s possession and Babidi’s magic compromise his autonomy 341 352 359.

Command and Administration

Frieza delegates territory, evaluates personnel, and uses military strength to enforce his authority.

  • Organizes regional power around Sorbet, Berryblue, and the Abo and Cado Brothers, with Turles proposed as a fourth cornerstone 32.
  • Gives Turles overall military command after recognizing his value 79.
  • Personally deploys to support wartime morale and later orders the defense of civilians and urban territory 96 391 424.

  • King Cold — Father and former ruler. Frieza suspects him of seeking to regain control and rejects his attempt to divide him from Turles 79.
  • Cooler — Older brother and military rival. Their hostility escalates into war; Frieza later welcomes the chance to kill the resurrected Metal Cooler personally 81 88 334.

  • Zarbon and Dodoria — Senior aides responsible for reports, arrangements, and defense. Both remain fearful of displeasing him 32 167 424.
  • Berryblue — Trusted senior subordinate who helps during the Slug crisis and reports Turles’s disappearance after the Metal Planet’s destruction 74 109.
  • Sorbet — Regional commander valued for financial judgment and efficient administration rather than exceptional combat strength 31.
  • Son Goku — Turles’s younger brother and a Frieza Force warrior. Frieza protects him from the immediate danger of the Jass battle; Goku later defends Frieza’s contributions to universal peace 182 183 339.
  • Slug — Would-be killer who exploits Frieza’s sealed power. Their later encounter reverses the balance so completely that Frieza stops his punch with one finger 74 336.
  • Mira Towa — Fused Demon Realm adversary whose attempt to avoid further conflict Frieza rejects before dominating their documented exchanges 425 426.
