Goku and Bulma had secretly come to see Gohan quite a few times over the past few days.
Such was the heart of a parent. What parent could help worrying about their children?
That day, after seeing Piccolo take Gohan flying off into the distance once again, Goku and Bulma headed to Mount Paozu.
After landing on Mount Paozu, Goku set Bulma down.
The two had originally been flying together, but Bulma had run low on Ki toward the end, so Goku had picked her up.
He flew through the sky holding the soft Bulma, her entire body pressed tightly against his.
Well, he had to admit, flying through the air like this was pretty nice.
"Big brother, come on out! We came to see you," Goku called to Raditz from the clearing outside the house.
Before long, Raditz flew out, having changed into a different outfit.
"Big brother, I didn't expect you to have an outfit custom-made!" Goku said, looking at Raditz's new clothes.
Perhaps because he was used to wearing a Battle Suit, Raditz hadn't chosen to wear normal clothes. Instead, he had a clothing store custom-make several outfits in styles much like his Battle Suit.
"Yeah, I'm used to wearing a Battle Suit. By the way, Kakarot, what brings you two here this time?"
Raditz nodded, then looked at Goku and Bulma in puzzlement.
"Big brother, did you forget? Didn't you want to see a Super Saiyan?"
Of course, Goku wasn't about to say he'd only come because he'd suddenly remembered. Some things were better left unsaid.
It was better for both of them.
That was called a white lie.
"Oh, right! Quick, Kakarot, show me the Super Saiyan from our Saiyan legends!"
Realization dawned on Raditz's face. He hurriedly grabbed Goku by both shoulders, speaking with excitement.
"Big brother, let go of me first. I can't transform like this."
Goku felt a little helpless as Raditz excitedly gripped his shoulders.
"Right, right!"
Raditz immediately let go and hurriedly stepped back several paces, leaving Goku plenty of room.
Then he noticed Bulma was still standing beside Goku and felt a little puzzled.
Isn't she afraid Kakarot will hurt her when he transforms?
"Aren't you going to move farther away?" Raditz asked Bulma.
"No need!" Bulma shook her head and smiled.
"Hmm~"
With a hum, Goku slowly closed his eyes. Golden Ki began to envelop his body, and in an instant, his hair and eyebrows turned gold.
A golden aura boiled around Goku. The next second, the aura withdrew into his body, and Goku opened his turquoise eyes.

Huh?
That's it?
Raditz was dumbfounded. He had thought transforming into a Super Saiyan would be a grand spectacle. If not earth-shattering, it would at least darken the sky.
Instead, Kakarot had hummed once, and it was over.
That fast? Raditz was like a young wife who had expected her man to last more than half an hour, only for him to finish in three seconds.
It felt awful to have his expectations raised so high, only for the result to fall so far short!
"Hey, big brother, what's with that look? It's like this because I've mastered the Super Saiyan form!"
Goku was a little speechless. It was mostly the look on Raditz's face that made him feel he had to explain.
"Huh? Is that how it works?"
Seeing that Raditz didn't have a clue, Goku decided to explain.
"When you first transform into a Super Saiyan, you can't perfectly control your power because your Power Level has skyrocketed. You can only control it after training for a while. But when you transform into a Super Saiyan, your powerful Ki and stamina constantly leak out, and the drain on both is enormous, like this."
With that, Goku released the golden aura from his body and controlled his Ki as it dispersed into the air.
"That puts you at a serious disadvantage in a prolonged fight. So, to make perfect use of every bit of Ki and stamina when transformed into a Super Saiyan, this form was developed. I call it Super Saiyan 1 Full Power."
Goku drew the aura back into his body. In an instant, he seemed much calmer.
"In the Super Saiyan 1 Full Power state, Ki and stamina don't constantly leak away. They're kept inside the body, and the drain on them is greatly reduced. It's also a prerequisite for transforming into a Super Saiyan 2."
"Super Saiyan 2?"
Goku's last sentence left Raditz bewildered. What the hell is Super Saiyan 2?
Bulma, standing nearby, was also puzzled. She had never seen Goku transform into a Super Saiyan 2, nor had she heard him mention it.
Seeing their puzzled expressions, Goku explained.
"Super Saiyan 2 is a further transformation built on Super Saiyan 1 Full Power. It's much more powerful, but it also consumes a lot more Ki and stamina. Super Saiyan 1 is a fiftyfold increase, while Super Saiyan 2 is a hundredfold increase."
With that, Goku flew high into the air, clenched his fists at his waist, and made a pfft sound.
"And this is Super Saiyan 2!"
"Aaah!!"
As Goku shouted, countless streams of golden aura burst from his body, rising higher and higher, straight into the sky.
Sparks of electricity appeared in the golden aura, and the clouds in the sky were scattered by the air waves it produced.
Goku's bangs stood straight up, except for a few small locks. His turquoise eyes became even colder, and his entire face looked serious and mature.
Looking up at Goku, Bulma couldn't help swooning again. He's so handsome! He looked even more handsome than in his Super Saiyan form, and his serious, mature face struck her right in the heart.
Raditz was too shocked to speak, staring blankly at Goku.
His Power Level had already surpassed Frieza's, and now he was a hundred times stronger. What did that even mean?
It was truly hard to understand why such a powerful being would willingly stay on a low-level planet without drawing attention.
Raditz looked up at Goku, enveloped in golden aura, with great envy.
"Click."
Goku withdrew his aura, returned to his normal state, and slowly descended from the sky.
He immediately noticed Raditz's envy, so he walked over and patted him on the shoulder.
"Don't be jealous. You'll be able to transform into a Super Saiyan someday too!"
Goku spoke in an almost certain tone. He didn't believe that with him around, Raditz wouldn't eventually reach a normal-state Power Level of three million.
Hearing Goku say that, Raditz instantly grew excited and looked at him eagerly.
"Kakarot, really? Can I really transform into a Super Saiyan too?"
Seeing Raditz's hopeful expression, Goku nodded.
"Yes, you can transform too! But the first step is to reach a normal-state Power Level of three million!"
Raditz felt dopamine rapidly flooding his brain.
"That's great, that's great! I'm going to train right now!"
Watching Raditz immediately fly away, Bulma looked at Goku, a little speechless.
"Goku, you Saiyans really are all alike. What do we do now?"
"What else can we do? Go home."
Goku shrugged helplessly. As a fellow Saiyan, he could understand Raditz.
