Besides saving the future, Goku's main reason for going to the future was to see two people.
One Gohan, and the other is Future Bulma.
Future Bulma is the strongest, greatest, and smartest woman in Dragon Ball, without a doubt.
She doesn't have the power to traverse the universe and shatter stars, but she is the key to saving the future world—a heroic woman.
They've lost some of their naivety and romance, but gained more maturity and composure.
If Bulma in his timeline is lucky, having someone to protect and accompany her means she won't feel despair or loneliness.
In the Future Timeline, Bulma is unfortunate; her husband died of a heart attack 17 years ago, and androids were born.
As time passed, looking back, the androids were rampaging, and he discovered that his only remaining family members were Gohan and his sister's son.
To save the hopeless future, they had to work day and night, neglecting sleep and meals, to develop Time Machine.
She always held the belief that if Goku was there, everything would be resolved.
Thinking of this, Goku clenched his fists involuntarily.
Regardless of the present, just talking about the original work, what Goku finds most unacceptable is that in the Zamasu Saga, Bulma dies at the hands of that most familiar face.
In the future world, Bulma is far less familiar with Vegeta than she is with Goku has known for over a decade.
To die at the hands of someone you know best—you can imagine how desperate you must have felt.
Goku swore he would never let Bulma in this timeline experience that again! Absolutely not!
The Time Machine flickered, and in the blink of an eye, Goku and his Time Machine appeared in a spacious basement.
Goku leaped out of the Time Machine and looked around. It was indeed quite rudimentary, with many cracks even visible in the walls.
"Uncle Goku, please come with me. Aunt Bulma and Gohan are in a basement nearby."
Given Goku's mastery of ki, he had already sensed Bulma and Gohan's location, but he still decided to let Trunks take him there.
After all, it was his kind gesture.
Along the way, pebbles were scattered everywhere, and there was even a faint smell of decay in the air. Looking at the dilapidated environment around him, Goku couldn't help but admire Future Bulma even more.
They actually spent over a decade painstakingly researching under these conditions and even developed Time Machine —a machine that defies all reason.
To be able to stand shoulder to shoulder with gods despite being a mortal—that's probably what they mean by that.
After walking for about a minute, the view suddenly opened up before me.
A man with light blue hair stood under the light, wearing an orange martial arts uniform with one sleeve empty.
" Gohan, Gohan! I'm back! Look who I brought back!" Trunks called out Gohan's name from afar.
Gohan turned his head to look at Trunks with a hint of helplessness when he heard Trunks calling him.
" Trunks has told me so many times, don't always make a fuss... Dad, Dad!"
Gohan had been joking, but the next second when he looked at Trunks, he froze.
That familiar figure in the orange martial arts uniform—yes, it must be his father!
Gohan, who hadn't shed a tear in ages, could no longer hold back his tears.
How many years has it been? He had almost forgotten his father's figure, only vaguely remembering the majestic back that stood tall in front of him.
Since his father was diagnosed with heart disease, the ten-year-old boy has shouldered heavy responsibilities. As one familiar person after another died, the burden on his shoulders grew heavier and heavier.
For more than a decade, he felt he was about to collapse from exhaustion. He didn't want to talk to anyone, especially his mother Bulma, because he didn't want her to worry.
Gohan could no longer control himself. He tried to keep his eyes open, but tears still streamed down his face, and his feet moved slowly toward Goku involuntarily.
" Gohan, thank you for your hard work."
Goku walked up and hugged Gohan. He understood the feeling of carrying the weight of an entire world on one's shoulders.
"Father! Father!"
Gohan hugged Goku tightly; he hadn't felt such a warm embrace in over ten years.
Gohan's tears soaked Goku's clothes, but Goku didn't let go; instead, he hugged her even tighter.
He knew that Gohan needed his father's embrace right now.
Trunks watched quietly from the side, and couldn't help but feel a little envious of Gohan.
His parents left him when he was very young and before he had any memories, and he has never experienced his father's embrace.
Gohan, Goku poured out his heart, recounting all the grievances and pain he had suffered over the years.
To others, he always appeared as a tenacious and indomitable person, but only his father could bring out this vulnerable side of him.
Goku stared at Gohan's empty sleeve, a nameless rage burning within him.
He desperately wanted to eliminate Android 18 himself, but he had already made plans before he came. He took Gohan and Trunks to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber for a year of training so that they could eliminate Android 18 themselves.
Gohan naturally sensed Goku's gaze and smiled without minding it.
"Haha, Dad, it's just an arm. Scars are a man's badge of honor, and this arm of mine is a very prestigious one!"
"Hmm." Goku nodded casually; he had already figured out a way to restore Gohan's arm.
They talked for a long time, a good ten minutes or so.
"Dad, why don't you go in and see Mom? She's doing her research in there," Gohan said, pointing to the room behind him.
Goku looked in the direction Gohan pointed, and saw a room that was one of the few well-preserved and looked quite high-tech.
"Okay, you guys wait here. I'll take you somewhere later." Goku nodded, walked to the door, opened it, and went inside.
Upon entering the room, Goku saw bottles, jars, and various instruments, which were far inferior to Bulma's laboratory in his timeline.
But thinking about it, it makes sense. After all, it's almost the end of the world, so having a laboratory like this is already quite good.
Goku watched as a petite figure with blue hair busied herself at the lab table. Compared to the Bulma he remembered, she seemed to have lost a lot of weight.
"No, if we do it this way, the Time Machine will require significantly less energy. Hmm, I can give it a try then," Bulma muttered to herself as she recorded the data.
She caught a glimpse of an orange figure out of the corner of her eye. At first, she thought it was Gohan, but...
"Wu... Kong..."
Bulma turned her head and looked at that familiar figure, and froze for a moment.
Goku? It really is Goku! Has Trunks succeeded?!
When Goku heard Bulma calling his name softly, a smile appeared on his lips.
"Yes, Bulma!"
