Background / History
Meeting Li Qingshan
Xiaobai was born in Kunlun and cultivated for a hundred years before gaining intelligence. When Li Qingshan encountered her, she was fleeing a Zheng while carrying a purple spirit herb. He drove the beast away and offered her pure essence Qi. She offered him the herb in gratitude, but he let her keep it and instead asked her to guide him. She accepted in exchange for daily essence Qi and happily took the name “Xiaobai” 35 69.
Her knowledge of Kunlun soon proved essential. She helped Li Qingshan find a hidden cave containing a deceased cultivator’s remains, pill-refinement notes, and weakened pills. She later directed him to a broken sword containing Great Luo silver essence and a complete sword-control inheritance. When the pressure around the Immortal Pool became unbearable, she stopped rather than lead him farther; afterward, she brought him to a secluded cave and guarded his cultivation 36 37 38.
Bloodline Awakening and Lifebound Bond
The Nine Yang Sundial awakened Xiaobai’s bloodline and left an origin power that continued nourishing her. She subsequently guided Li Qingshan to lightning-gathering terrain and the Earthfire Abyss, where her jade horn helped extract more than twenty fire marrow crystals 41 42 45 59.
During a downpour, Li Qingshan sheltered her and promised that she no longer had to face danger alone. Xiaobai responded by giving him her lifebound reverse scale, creating a direct bond between their souls. He accepted her trust and vowed that they would share fortune and misfortune 45.
An ancient remnant intent later left Xiaobai’s bloodline suppressed and forced her into protective sleep. Li Qingshan treated her with a spirit-nourishing pill, Solar True Force, and heaven and earth essence. She fully awakened after three days, though initially weak, and immediately reaffirmed her determination to remain beside him 46 47.
Life in Kunlun
Xiaobai continued finding medicinal resources, assisting with alchemy, and guarding Li Qingshan during dangerous cultivation. Her jade horn activated a stele in the Forest of Broken Steles, revealing visions of the Sun Sacred Clan’s ancient war. She also gathered materials for the Purple Gold Bell’s refinement 51 52 56 57 59.
After taking human form, she waited through Li Qingshan’s sixty-two-day confinement in an ancient formation. She left a spiritual-sense imprint to watch for his return and preserved the best spirit fruits she found for him. Their reunion left her in tears, and she stayed close while he studied his newly acquired furnace and formation inheritance 63.
Joining the Li Family
After three years in Kunlun, Xiaobai had reached perfected Divine Bridge and could walk on human legs. At Li Qingshan’s request, she had changed her address for him from “Master” to “Brother Qingshan.” He taught her an art to conceal her horn and cultivation before they crossed Kunlun’s outer formations, a journey that took two months 67.
In Jiangcheng, Xiaobai greeted Su Wan and Li Guoqiang as her grandparents. After revealing her snake origins and demonstrating invisibility, she was explicitly welcomed as a child of the family. She gave the couple spirit fruits that rejuvenated their bodies and later helped supervise their cultivation practice 68 69 70 71.
Two years later, Xiaobai wanted to accompany Li Qingshan to the Big Dipper Star Domain. He refused because of its dangers and instead entrusted her with protecting his parents. She remained on Earth and gave him a cloth doll depicting their family before his departure 72.
Appearance
Xiaobai’s original form is a small, snow-white snake; her later human form resembles a silver-haired young girl 35 63.
- Snake form: Slender body, cool jade-like scales, deep green eyes, and jade horns 35 40 45.
- Bloodline markings: Faint golden patterns appear on her jade horn after the sundial’s destruction 42.
- Human form: Silver hair, golden eyes, snowy skin, and a delicate face 63 67.
- Horn development: Her jade horn reaches three inches by the time she prepares to leave Kunlun, but she conceals it with illusion 67.
- Apparent age: Can pass for an ordinary four- or five-year-old girl when leaving Kunlun; appears five or six after two years in Jiangcheng 67 72.
Personality
Xiaobai is affectionate, playful, and eager to earn praise. She enjoys finding treasures for Li Qingshan and receiving essence Qi or spirit fruits in return. Her curiosity extends from chasing spirit butterflies in Kunlun to examining the unfamiliar streets and household objects of Jiangcheng 36 60 67 68.
Her caution comes from familiarity with Kunlun’s dangers. She readily identifies threats beyond her strength and recommends detours rather than reckless exploration. Nevertheless, concern for Li Qingshan repeatedly overcomes her fear: she volunteers to guard him, worries when tribulations injure him, and offers him the foundation of her own life through her reverse scale 35 37 45 57.
Within the Li household, she is gentle and attentive. She comforts Su Wan during the family reunion, avoids making a fuss while the adults are distressed, and promises to help with housework and gather immortal fruit for her grandparents 68 69.
Abilities & Skills
Spiritual Senses and Treasure Finding
Xiaobai combines keen spiritual perception with a native’s knowledge of Kunlun’s terrain 35 38.
- Locates hidden resources and inheritances, including the sword beneath the dead tree’s roots 36.
- Warns of powerful beasts, dangerous restrictions, and spatial rifts before Li Qingshan enters them 35 36 37.
- Recognizes the unusual severity of heavenly tribulation lightning compared with Thundercliff’s earth-vein lightning 47.
- Leaves a spiritual-sense imprint to monitor Li Qingshan’s return during his prolonged absence 63.
- Has limits: the pressure near the Immortal Pool makes her soul tremble and prevents her from advancing farther 37.
Jade Horn
Her jade horn can interact with both physical materials and ancient spiritual structures 45 56.
- Breaks protective force and hard material, allowing her to pry intact fire marrow crystals from rock 45.
- Guides pure wood Qi into Li Qingshan’s alchemical fire to support pill refinement 52.
- Activates an ancient stele that displays visions of the Sun Sacred Clan’s war 56.
Lifebound Reverse Scale
Xiaobai’s reverse scale carries the foundation of her life. Entrusting it to Li Qingshan establishes an unbreakable soul bond described as sharing life and death 45.
- Creates a connection that does not require spoken words or deliberate thought transmission 45.
- Supports communication across distance; she contacts him through it during his Dragon Transformation tribulation 57.
- Giving it away temporarily exhausts her and dims her scales. Li Qingshan confirms that her source remains unharmed and helps restore her vitality 45.
Transformation, Illusion, and Invisibility
Xiaobai develops a human form and learns a concealment art tailored to her by Li Qingshan 63 67.
- Takes the form of a young girl, eventually walking on fully human legs 63 67.
- Uses the Aura-Concealing and Form-Illusion Art to hide her jade horn and make her spiritual fluctuations resemble those of a mortal 67.
- Demonstrates invisibility to Li Qingshan’s parents by making most of her body disappear while leaving her head visible 69.
Heaven-Devouring Profound Yin Art
A cultivation method suited to Xiaobai is found among the inheritances collected in Kunlun. She later names it among the abilities she could use to help Li Qingshan fight 67 72.
- Her innate nature leans toward cold, so unmodified supreme-yang divine power would normally suppress her. Li Qingshan initially feeds her only its carefully gentled life essence 38.
Alchemical Assistance
Xiaobai assists Li Qingshan with both materials and the refinement process 52 59 63.
- Helps produce three Origin Pills by feeding wood Qi into the refining fire; Li Qingshan gives her one afterward 52.
- Collects Scarlet Fire Essence, Thunder Mark Stone, and Earth Vein Pearls for the Purple Gold Bell 59.
- Passes auxiliary herbs during Spirit-Concentrating Pill refinement 63.

- Purple-Gold Dao Bell — Recognizes Xiaobai and responds gently to her touch. She enthusiastically gathers materials for its refinement and receives nourishing earth-vein power from it 59.
