Xiao Jing regards Ziwei Holy Land as his home and takes pride in maintaining its strength. He supports leaving disciples behind to guard Qingming City rather than allowing everyone to pursue secret-realm opportunities, following the example of earlier generations 78. As team leader, he directs preparations, oversees the selection contest, and coordinates departures 79 80 81.

His initial respect for Ji Zining comes from her position, achievements, and Li Changsheng’s instructions. After learning her true combat strength, that respect becomes wholehearted loyalty, expressed with such enthusiasm that Ji Zining privately finds his behavior embarrassingly fawning 77. Among companions, he is more relaxed: he teases Lin Shan over his Lightning Crystal gains and develops a friendly rivalry with Li Chang’an 93 147.

He is also willing to reconsider his judgments. Initially troubled by Ji Zining accepting the traitor Mo Yang’s inheritance, he accepts her argument that abilities are not inherently evil and should be judged by how they are used 117.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Qingming City and Ji Zining’s Arrival

Xiao Jing welcomes Ji Zining to Qingming City and introduces himself as the Holy Son responsible for its stationed team. The ranking stele establishes him as the battlefield’s twelfth-ranked prodigy, capable of fighting well above his cultivation level 75 76.

After becoming convinced of Ji Zining’s strength, he informs her about the approaching opening of the Martial Emperor Secret Realm. He oversees the disciples’ selection contest, leaving five ranked prodigies to defend Qingming City while the victors prepare to explore 77 79 80.

Martial Emperor Secret Realm

Xiao Jing leads the disciples to the realm and joins the smaller party accompanying Ji Zining. After surviving Mo Li’s self-destruction, he regroups with the others and continues to the Holy Spirit Sea 83 85 90 93.

He follows Ji Zining into the sea’s shrinking vortex and carries the jade key that reveals a portal inside the hidden grotto-heaven. During the inheritance trials beyond it, he earns first-class rewards and later advances to the Peak Third Level of the Saint King Realm 95 97 104 108.

He subsequently guides the party’s understanding of the Ancient Chaos Stone Stele and accompanies Ji Zining into the Ancient Chaos Graveyard. Concern for her draws him and the others into Black Demon City, where she intervenes before they can provoke its inhabitants 120 126 137.

The Saber Emperor’s Successor

After refining Great Dao Tea, Xiao Jing reaches the white palace world with Ji Zining and Li Chang’an. He identifies the Law of the Saber surrounding its coffin, and his companions nominate him to receive the emperor’s legacy 144 148 149.

The Saber Emperor accepts him but delivers the inheritance through a painful beating. Following the expedition, Xiao Jing realizes that he has surpassed Mo Shang, the senior brother he had previously been unable to catch, and attributes the change to following Ji Zining 149 159.

Mo Shang’s Rescue and Return Home

When Mo Shang arrives in Qingming City gravely wounded, Xiao Jing helps sustain him and brings Ji Zining to the main hall. He then coordinates the transfer of treatment to her 162 163 164.

After reporting that Ao Xue and Huang Xi have disappeared from the Heavenly Pride Ranking, he leads the group to Qingming City’s teleportation array for their return to the True Martial Dao Domain 169. He accompanies the effort to reclaim the Great Emperor Dao Fruit, but stays clear of the Quasi-Emperor battle at Phoenix Slope 179 180.

He later cultivates with the younger disciples in the Wang Lineage’s Linlang Immortal Realm and accompanies Ji Zining to her hometown, where he and the others envy the affection her parents show her 201 202 204.

Investigation of the Hidden Secret Realm

Xiao Jing volunteers to accompany Ji Zining when she decides to investigate the realm previously explored by Mo Shang 210. Inside, he receives a protective jade token as she breaks through successive illusory spaces 217 222.

Later, he and Mo Shang consult the ranking stele after sensing Ji Zining’s breakthrough and discover that her combat strength has reached the Third Level of the Great Emperor Realm 228. Following the damaged green figure’s death, the two investigate the True Martial Dao Domain and confirm that its rules of heaven and earth are recovering 230.
