Background / History
Childhood and Shrek Academy
Tang San grew up caring for his alcoholic father, Tang Hao, rather than receiving dependable care himself. Xiao Wu began growing up alongside him when he was six, and the two developed a close bond 29 34.
At Shrek Academy, he became Yu Xiaogang’s staunchest defender. When the heavenly screen exposed damaging information about Yu Xiaogang’s relationship with Bibi Dong and the origins of his knowledge, Tang San argued that events in another spacetime did not prove his own teacher was the same person 1 3 4.
The group later reached Heaven Dou City and entered Blue Tyrant Academy. After meeting Flender, Liu Erlong renamed the academy and placed him in charge 23.
Doubts About Yu Xiaogang
Tang San initially rejected the possibility of a thousand-year first Soul Ring, relying on both Yu Xiaogang’s theories and his own difficult first-ring absorption. The heavenly screen repeatedly demonstrated results that contradicted those assumptions 3 13.
Although he continued defending his teacher publicly, his private trust weakened. He doubted Yu Xiaogang’s prediction that Ye Qingxian would die absorbing a ten-thousand-year fourth ring, and later turned away while struggling not to laugh at Yu Xiaogang’s declaration that he would destroy Spirit Hall 12 13.
Tang Hao eventually appeared, revealed his identity as Clear Sky Douluo, and took responsibility for Tang San’s training. He openly criticized the results of Yu Xiaogang’s instruction 23.
Ambush and Second Awakening
After sending Xiao Wu away, Tang San accompanied his father toward the Blue Silver Forest for his Martial Soul’s Second Awakening. Bibi Dong intercepted them with Yue Guan and Gui Mei. Tang Hao broke through their combined attack using Ring Detonation, but the shockwaves shattered Tang San’s right arm and cost him his right leg 26 29.
Both father and son collapsed before reaching the forest. Wolf Bandits captured and sexually assaulted them before Tang Hao regained enough strength to kill their captors and rescue Tang San. The experience left Tang San severely traumatized and unwilling to continue living 28 29.
The Blue Silver King restored Tang San’s depleted vitality and awakened his Blue Silver Emperor bloodline, but could not replace his limbs. He explained that Ah Yin’s right leg bone could regenerate the missing leg and, with a suitable right arm bone, support regrowth of the arm 29.
Tang Hao brought him to the cave where Ah Yin’s seedling remained. Tang San broke down upon recognizing his mother. Before he could absorb her hundred-thousand-year right leg bone, however, Qian Xunji fished it directly from his hand across spacetime 29.
Xiao Wu’s Sacrifice
With direct regeneration unsuccessful, the Blue Silver King proposed a hundred-thousand-year Soul Beast’s sacrifice as another means of healing Tang San. Tang Hao sought help from Tang Xiao and the Clear Sky Sect’s Third Elder to obtain Xiao Wu’s cooperation, intending to use force if necessary 31 34.
Tang Hao believed his son would refuse Xiao Wu’s sacrifice while conscious. He therefore knocked Tang San unconscious and deliberately injured his internal organs, making his condition appear immediately fatal when he presented him to Xiao Wu 36.
Xiao Wu sacrificed herself, restoring Tang San and becoming the Clear Sky Hammer’s first ring. Tang San buried her remains and spent several days kneeling at her grave without eating. He resolved to become a god, both to avenge her and to resurrect her 37 39 40.
Failed Journey to Sea God Island
Tang Xiao agreed to escort Tang San to Sea God Island. At Vast Sea City, they learned that an earlier Clear Sky Sect expedition had perished after being deliberately led into the Devil Whale Sea Area 37 39.
Before they could secure a ship, Yue Guan and Gui Mei confronted them. Tang Xiao held off Spirit Hall’s forces while Tang San escaped using Teleportation and concealment. Tang Xiao was killed, and Tang San fled inland after a prolonged pursuit 40.
Unable to reach Sea God Island, Tang San began seeking another divine inheritance. He vowed to obtain godhood at any cost 40.
Devouring and Slaughter City
After collapsing from exhaustion, Tang San was again captured and sexually assaulted by Wolf Bandits. This time, he killed his attackers with Blue Silver Emperor vines and the Eight Spider Lances, using devouring to replenish his strength. He then entered a village to seize further vitality, after which his Martial Soul and lances visibly darkened 40 41.
He returned to Tang Hao to report Tang Xiao’s death and ask about other possible routes to godhood. Tang Hao directed him to Slaughter City and escorted him there. Tang San welcomed its violence, drained the occupants of the entrance tavern, and declared that he sensed a divine inheritance within 41 42.
Inside Slaughter City, he sustained himself through repeated killings and devouring. His rapid growth provoked a mass attack, which he survived. Following his escape into a stone house, he killed several occupants and sexually assaulted captive men; the narration attributes an escalating influence to his loss of restraint 45 49.
Appearance
- After the Second Awakening: His appearance changes with the awakening of his Blue Silver Emperor bloodline. Tang Xiao remarks that his handsome features resemble Ah Yin more than the Clear Sky Sect’s members 29 36.
- Blue hair: Explicitly noted during his journey with Tang Xiao 39.
- Darkened Martial Soul: His Blue Silver Emperor’s golden markings turn black, and its vines become purplish black after sustained devouring 41.
- Blood-red Eight Spider Lances: The lances become eerie red, later described as crystalline 41 49.
- Changed expression and bearing: His formerly approachable presence gives way to cold eyes, a gloomy demeanor, and conspicuous killing intent 41.
Personality
Tang San initially defines loyalty to his teacher as a lifelong obligation. He defends Yu Xiaogang against criticism from Ning Rongrong and Xiao Wu, even as the heavenly screen undermines the teacher’s reputation. His public loyalty outlasts his private certainty: by the time Ye Qingxian attempts her fourth-ring absorption, he no longer treats Yu Xiaogang’s claims as unquestionable 4 12 13.
He also displays a strong desire to obtain valuable cultivation resources. He becomes excited upon learning that the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well exists, and privately reasons that he would kill a transformed hundred-thousand-year Soul Beast for its bone rather than risk losing the opportunity 6 12.
His attachment to Xiao Wu becomes a central motive after her sacrifice. He grieves at her grave, blames Bibi Dong for the chain of events leading to her death, and pursues godhood with the stated intention of bringing her back 37 39.
Repeated losses and assaults precede a marked change in his conduct. He begins devouring people who are not established enemies, treats others’ Soul Bones as future possessions, and becomes increasingly indiscriminate and coercive in Slaughter City 41 49.
Abilities & Skills
Twin Martial Souls
Tang San possesses two Martial Souls: Blue Silver Grass, later awakened as the Blue Silver Emperor, and the Clear Sky Hammer 3 29 34.
- Blue Silver Emperor: Provides vines for attacking and restraining targets, alongside concealment and recovery capabilities 39 40 41.
- Blue Silver Domain: Conceals his presence in forests and helps him evade Spirit Hall’s pursuit 40.
- Clear Sky Hammer: Receives Xiao Wu as its first Soul Ring; Tang San later uses it to smash open Slaughter City’s entrance 40 45.
- Regeneration limit: Awakening his bloodline alone does not regrow his lost limbs; the Blue Silver King identifies Soul Bones or a hundred-thousand-year sacrifice as necessary remedies 29 31.
Dark Blue Silver Emperor
After Tang San begins consuming others’ vitality, his Blue Silver Emperor changes into a darker form explicitly called the Dark Blue Silver Emperor 41 42.
- Pierces multiple targets with its vines 42.
- Devours living beings’ origin and feeds the gains back to Tang San 42.
- Can spread across an entire stone house 49.
Eight Spider Lances
The Eight Spider Lances function as both piercing weapons and a means of devouring victims 41 49.

- Vanish: Further complicates attempts to kill him during the Vast Sea City escape 40.
Mysterious Heaven Skill and Cultivation Knowledge
- Cultivates the Mysterious Heaven Skill, though it does not make his initial Soul Ring absorption effortless 3.
- Recognizes the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well and understands the value of immortal-grade herbs 6.
- Explains that observing the Bright Jade Technique is insufficient to learn it without its mental cultivation formulas 26.
