Selection as the Pope’s Wife

Ye Qingxian grew up hearing legends of Qian Xunji and hoped to marry someone similarly extraordinary. Her father, Ye Cangshui, suffered from an old Martial Soul injury and wanted her to marry well and continue the Nine Heart Begonia lineage before his death 6 8.

After abandoning Bibi Dong as a cultivation target, Qian Xunji decided to marry and produce heirs rather than rely solely on a disciple. Yue Guan recommended Ye Qingxian and identified the Twelve-Grade Holy Light Lotus as an herb capable of improving her Martial Soul 6.

Qian Xunji proposed publicly in Heaven Dou City. Ye Qingxian accepted, receiving the lotus and a two-hundred-thousand-year Yin Yang Fish Torso Bone as betrothal gifts. Before taking her family to Spirit City, he also healed Ye Cangshui’s damaged Martial Soul 8 9.

Marriage and Cultivation

At the Pope’s Palace, Ye Qingxian refined the lotus and torso bone under Qian Xunji’s supervision. He assigned Ah Yin as her personal maid and Ling Yuan Douluo as her bodyguard. Her subsequent absorption of a twenty-thousand-year fourth ring disproved Yu Xiaogang’s confident prediction that she would die 10 12 13.

Her marriage was celebrated throughout Spirit Hall, with Spirit City decorated in red and a carpet extending fifty kilometers beyond the city. More than ten Titled Douluo attended the wedding 12 15 16.

Although Qian Xunji initially married her for his system’s development task, genuine affection grew between them. Her cultivation milestones also generated system rewards for him, including increased Soul Ring and Soul Bone ages, Creation God affinity, and martial arts techniques 14 38.

Sea God Island and Pregnancy

Qian Xunji took Ye Qingxian and Ah Yin overseas to pursue the benefits of the Sea God’s trials. In exchange for returning the Sea God’s Heart, he secured permission for both women to undergo assessment. Ye Qingxian received nine trials and began cultivating on Sea God Island 18 19 22 24.

After Ah Yin conceived first, Ye Qingxian became increasingly eager to have a child herself. By the time she completed her first trial, she had also discovered her pregnancy. Qian Xunji instructed both women to postpone the Second Trial until after childbirth 29 32 38.

She later accompanied Qian Xunji north during his efforts to strengthen Shui Bing’er. After two days of sightseeing in the Far North, she asked to return to Sea God Island, where she treated Zhu Zhuqing after a training attempt 46 49.

Original-Timeline Counterpart

The original-timeline Ye Qingxian is an adult Soul Saint and Ye Lingling’s mother. She distinguishes herself from the younger woman shown on the heavenly screen, despite her daughter’s repeated teasing about becoming the Pope’s wife 6 16.

After learning about immortal herbs from the broadcast, she obtained two herbs with Dugu Bo at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. Qian Daoliu prevented their departure; both were subsequently taken to Spirit City and made worship elders. Ye Qingxian refined the Aromatic Silk Beauty, while Ye Lingling took the Twelve-Grade Holy Light White Lotus 7 13.

Appearance

• General appearance: A beautiful young woman with a graceful figure, a fresh, natural aura of life, and an innocent, “girl next door” quality 8 9 10.
• After Martial Soul evolution: Her complexion becomes jade-like and unblemished, while her features gain a more ethereal air 12.
• Clothing: Wears a floor-length moon-white gown at the Pope’s Palace; her wedding attire includes a phoenix coronet and elaborate bridal robes 10 16.

Personality

Initially shy and overwhelmed by her engagement, Ye Qingxian repeatedly wonders whether her good fortune is a dream. She is deeply grateful for Qian Xunji’s care, particularly his treatment of her father and investment in her cultivation. After becoming pregnant, she grows more openly affectionate and attached to him 8 9 12 18 38.

She is more perceptive about romantic relationships than Ah Yin: she recognizes Bo Saixi’s interest in Qian Xunji and is untroubled by it, having never expected him to remain exclusively hers. She also treats the newer women considerately, congratulating Shui Bing’er’s progress and healing Zhu Zhuqing after training 32 45 49.

Her original-timeline counterpart is practical about the competition for immortal herbs and easily embarrassed by Ye Lingling’s provocative jokes. Their exchanges reveal a familiar, teasing mother–daughter relationship rather than the younger counterpart’s initial reserve 6 13 16.
