First Phone Demonstration

Gu Rong is present when Lu Ye introduces phones to Ning Fengzhi and Chen Xin. Initially amused that a Soul Tool costing two Gold Soul Coins requires Chen Xin’s involvement, he becomes more attentive after learning that recorded footage can be shared with other phone owners 1.

After watching Chen Xin’s cliff-splitting sword strike with synchronized background music, Gu Rong volunteers to demonstrate his Bone Dragon. He privately insists that Lu Ye choose better music than Chen Xin’s 1.

His first recording is spoiled when he turns to argue with Chen Xin, causing the dragon to follow his movement. A second take succeeds, and Lu Ye publishes it under the newly created Bone Douluo account. Gu Rong immediately checks its likes and prompts the others to support it. After Chen Xin points out that Gu Rong has not liked his video either, both posts gain another heart 2.

Early Douyin Activity

Gu Rong learns to browse independently and search by name. His routine begins with watching his own Bone Dragon video, followed by checking Chen Xin’s like count. Despite encouraging Lu Ye to obtain more videos, he declines to perform again the next day 2 4.

When Ning Rongrong leaves to seek an academy outside her family’s influence, Gu Rong immediately offers to bring her home. Ning Fengzhi refuses, explaining that Gu Rong would remove precisely the hardships she needs to face herself 14.

Gu Rong ultimately stops contesting the decision to let her continue with Lu Ye watching discreetly. He nevertheless tells Lu Ye not to hesitate if someone genuinely threatens her life and asks him to remind her to contact the family. After her call home, he remains by the door holding his phone, with no new messages on its screen 14.

Liu Ruyan’s Livestream

Gu Rong watches Liu Ruyan’s zither performance and praises her skill to Chen Xin. Noticing the lively audience conversation, he checks the gift prices and sends ten flowers. Viewers recognize his account, and Liu Ruyan bows to thank him as Senior Bone Douluo 24.

The experience lets him participate as an ordinary listener without summoning his Martial Soul or displaying his nine rings. He enjoys being recognized, while Chen Xin dryly reminds him that his name is visible on the screen 24.

Gu Rong is competitive and highly conscious of his dignity, particularly around Chen Xin. He dismisses Chen Xin’s video as merely “passable,” then requests superior background music for his own. His affection for Ning Rongrong makes him strongly protective and inclined to indulge her. He sees no problem with improving her accommodation or confronting anyone who bullies her, even though this would undermine her attempt at independence.
