Background and History
Early Life in Holy Soul Village
Han Qiu transmigrated into the Douluo world as a fetus, but only recovered his previous-life memories at six after a fall. His mother died in childbirth, and his father died within a year after suffering grief and overwork. Old Jack took him in and raised him 1 2.
Before recovering his memories, Han Qiu trained alongside Tang San. After Tang San decisively surpassed him, he spent roughly a year avoiding exercise and lounging in a rocking chair. Believing he lacked the advantages needed to cultivate, he initially planned to remain in Holy Soul Village and live comfortably 1 3.
Choice System and Training
The Choice System appeared while Han Qiu was speaking with Tang San about Blue Silver Grass. He selected Qi-State Origin-Flow from rewards drawn from the Eight Extraordinary Skills, giving him a means to cultivate before his Martial Soul awakening 1 2.
He then combined its recovery with demanding exercises remembered from Blue Star, including the Muscle-Tendon Changing Classic, weighted frog jumps, sprints, and repeated mountain climbs. Tang San’s attempts to follow the same routine left him exhausted, prompting him to resolve to train twice as hard 4 5.
After obtaining Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer mastery, Han Qiu impressed Tang Hao with a deliberately limited demonstration. Tang Hao permitted him to work at the forge, partly to nurture his talent and partly to investigate his background and intentions 6 7 8.
Awakening and Academy Enrollment
Han Qiu awakened Light and Heavenly Eye, although Su Yuntao initially dismissed the vertical eye as a useless Martial Soul. When the testing crystal began cracking under his Soul Power, Han Qiu restrained his output to avoid revealing his exceptional reserves 9.
At Nuoding Academy, he invoked Spirit Hall’s authority against guards who had insulted Old Jack and discarded the boys’ enrollment papers. He secured an apology and two Gold Soul Coins, then used one coin to persuade Director Su to place him in the noble students’ Dorm Six rather than the work-study dormitory 15 16 18.
The dormitory’s residents expected to turn the incoming work-study student into a servant. Han Qiu defeated Zhang Jian and Liu Long instead, and subsequently became Dorm Six’s recognized leader 19 20 21.
First Soul Ring Hunt
Han Qiu declined to become Yu Xiaogang’s disciple and chose to hunt his first Soul Beast independently. After studying the academy’s Soul Beast records, he obtained travel papers and entered the Soul Hunting Forest alone despite warnings about the danger 17 21 22.
Unable to defeat the Purple Lightning Mane Lion directly, he repeatedly healed a roughly three-thousand-year Silver Moon Spirit Deer fighting it. Once the lion collapsed from exhaustion, Han Qiu killed it and began absorbing its ring 23 24.
The seven-thousand-year ring nearly overwhelmed him. He accepted the system’s guaranteed-refinement option without knowing that it would impose tenfold pain and prevent him from losing consciousness. He survived, repaired his injuries through Light, and used the remaining ring energy to strengthen his body 25.
Return to Nuoding Academy
On returning, Han Qiu found that Xiao Chenyu’s group had invoked his name during a confrontation with Tang San and Xiao Wu. He rebuked Xiao Chenyu for troubling his friends, then accepted further sparring challenges 29 31 32.
He defeated Tang San again and overcame Tang San and Xiao Wu’s coordinated restraint-and-grappling tactics. Afterward, he revealed his purple ring and auxiliary classification, then restored the depleted Soul Power and fatigue of Tang San, Xiao Wu, and Xiao Chenyu 33 34 35 36.
Appearance
- Hair and build: Has short hair and an initially slight frame; Tang San considers him less sturdy-looking than himself early in their training 3 4.
- Heavenly Eye: Manifests a vertical eye between his eyebrows 9 11.
- After ring refinement: Grows three or four centimeters and appears eight or nine rather than six. Xiao Wu remarks that he has become taller and handsomer 26 31.
- During lion possession: Pale-gold patterns spread across his skin, purple lightning moves through them, and his hair lifts under the released power 28.
Personality
Han Qiu’s apparent laziness changes sharply once he gains a reliable means of becoming stronger. He repeatedly trains to collapse and accepts painful physical breakthroughs, driven by an ambition to reach the top of the world 1 2 3.
He enjoys boasting, teasing Tang San, and drawing attention to his improved appearance. During their first documented sparring victory, he deliberately targets Tang San’s face with stones, then jokes about the ointment Tang San had prepared for him before applying it to his defeated friend 3 13 31.
Despite his showmanship, Han Qiu carefully conceals dangerous information. He disguises his hammer technique, suppresses his awakening test, and understates how little strength he used against Tang San because he fears attracting Spirit Hall’s attention or Tang Hao’s suspicion 7 9 13.
He is also adept at reading incentives and exploiting social pressure. His handling of the academy guards and Director Su contrasts with his old village reputation as a simple-minded child who preferred fists to words 1 15 16 18.
Abilities & Skills
Choice System
A gift attributed to Mother Blue Star that presents choices with corresponding rewards 1.
- Grants techniques and mastery, including Qi-State Origin-Flow, Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer, and Ripple Steps 2 6 34.
- Can provide assistance beyond technique acquisition, such as guaranteeing Soul Ring refinement 25.
- Its rewards may carry undisclosed drawbacks: guaranteed refinement subjects Han Qiu to tenfold pain while keeping him conscious 25.
Qi-State Origin-Flow
One of the Eight Extraordinary Skills, described as the “end of all techniques.” It forms the foundation of Han Qiu’s cultivation and recovery 2.
- Accelerates absorption of the primordial Qi of heaven and earth 2.
- Repairs exhaustion, muscle strain, and damage caused by extreme training, strengthening the body during recovery 2 3 5.
- Works alongside Heavenly Eye to sharpen his perception of movement and force 11.
- Enables rapid recovery of Soul Power, including his rise from level 9 to level 16 in two hours 26.
- Does not remove every bottleneck: his pre-awakening Qi growth stalls despite continued physical improvement 6.
Heavenly Eye
A supreme Martial Soul specializing in perception and analysis 9 11.
- Reads muscle tension, balance shifts, attack trajectories, and the paths of exerted force, allowing precise anticipatory dodging 11.
- Tracks dozens of projectiles closely enough for him to catch Tang San’s stone volley barehanded 12.
- Exposes weaknesses in Blue Silver Grass formations and the points connecting their Soul Power 32 33 34.
- Supports imitation of observed techniques, including Heavenly Maiden Scatters Flowers, Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track, and movements patterned after Mysterious Jade Hand 12 32.
- His copies are not necessarily identical to their originals; his reproduced palm technique is explicitly described as similar but different 32.
Light / Light-and-Lightning Martial Soul
Initially manifests as a translucent white humanoid with an indistinct face and no clearly defined clothing. Absorbing the lion’s ring adds lightning to its original light attribute 10 26 27.
- Healing: Repairs most of Uncle Zhang’s fracture using approximately thirty percent of Han Qiu’s Soul Power 11.
- Purification: Removes the paralytic toxin carried by Tang San’s Blue Silver Grass 33.
- Soul Power restoration: Fully restores Tang San, Xiao Wu, and Xiao Chenyu’s depleted reserves and removes their fatigue within moments 36.
- Theoretical limits: Its innate information states that sufficient Soul Power could purify any negative condition or heal any injury short of death; these are stated capabilities rather than fully demonstrated feats 10.
- Form development: Appears capable of unlocking another form every ten levels; the documented second form is the Radiant Thunder Holy Lion 10 27 28.
Radiant Thunder Holy Body
His first Soul Skill, obtained from the seven-thousand-year Purple Lightning Mane Lion ring 27.
- Raises strength, speed, endurance, and bodily resilience by more than seventy percent in his initial self-test 27.
- Can buff others rather than only its user 27 28.
- Carries lightning capable of paralyzing a target on contact 28.
- Has an estimated duration of well over an hour 27.
- Becomes less effective and more costly on substantially stronger targets. Buffing the Silver Moon Spirit Deer consumes a quarter of his Soul Power 28.
- Han Qiu estimates that it could still meaningfully assist Soul Ancestors at level 45 or below, but does not test that limit 28.
Radiant Thunder Holy Lion Possession
The offensive application of his second Martial Soul form, fusing its light-and-lightning origin directly with his body 28.
- Greatly enhances close-combat strength, speed, and defense 28.
- Produces considerably greater strength than Radiant Thunder Holy Body alone 28.
- Consumes Soul Power rapidly; he ends his initial test after five seconds despite possessing compressed reserves 28.
Body Refinement and Soul Power Compression
Han Qiu combines physical training, the Muscle-Tendon Changing Classic, Qi-State Origin-Flow, and the Golden Light Mantra to develop his foundation 4 5 27.
- The Muscle-Tendon Changing Classic stretches and tempers his fascia, sinews, and bones; Qi-State Origin-Flow repairs the damage that would otherwise make the routine hazardous 4 5.
- The Golden Light Mantra converts Qi into protective golden light and is used during his Soul Power compression 5 27.
- After ring refinement, he leaps dozens of meters and fells an enormous tree with a chopping strike; he estimates a casual blow exceeds one thousand jin of force 26.
- His compressed Soul Power retains the total reserves of level 16 but has greater density and practical staying power 27.
- Further compression depends on his body’s ability to withstand increasing pressure; tenfold or hundredfold compression remains speculation 26 27.
Martial Techniques
- Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer: Mastery of all eighty-one strikes, usable for smithing and attack through stacked force and vibration. His public demonstration is deliberately altered to obscure its orthodox origins 6 7.
- Torrential Pear Blossom: The name he gives his copied stone-projectile volley based on Tang San’s Heavenly Maiden Scatters Flowers 12.
- Ripple Steps: A system-awarded lightness technique received after defeating Xiao Wu 34.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Borrowed heavy iron hammer — Lent by Tang Hao for strength training. Han Qiu can lift it, but its weight initially makes his arms tremble 13.
- Short blade and supplies — Packed for his independent Soul Hunting Forest expedition 22.
- Academy travel papers — Establish his student identity and permit his entry into the guarded hunting forest 22.
Relationships
- Old Jack — Adoptive guardian who raised him after his parents died. Han Qiu redirects the academy guards’ apology toward Jack after they insult him 2 15.
- Tang San — Childhood friend and recurring rival. Han Qiu’s training and repeated victories motivate Tang San to work harder; their teasing does not prevent them from treating one another as friends 5 13 33.
- Tang Hao — Provides access to his forge, lends a heavy hammer, and advises Han Qiu to combine strength with footwork and eyesight. Privately watches him as a potential ally or threat to Tang San 8 13.
- Xiao Wu — Friend and sparring opponent. Han Qiu knows her Soul Beast identity from his previous-life knowledge and later defeats her alongside Tang San 21 32 34.
- Xiao Chenyu — Accepts Han Qiu as Dorm Six’s boss and defers to his strength. Han Qiu reprimands him for provoking Tang San and Xiao Wu 21 31 32.
- Zhang Jian and Liu Long — Dorm Six students whom he defeats on arrival; both subsequently acknowledge his leadership 19 21.
- Yu Xiaogang / Grandmaster — Offers advice about Soul Rings and assistance with enrollment. Han Qiu declines discipleship, believing Grandmaster cannot guide his particular path 17 18.
- Silver Moon Spirit Deer — Temporary hunting ally. Han Qiu heals it during its fight with the lion; it then guards him overnight and assists with his ability tests 24 26 28.
- Director Su — Academy administrator whom Han Qiu persuades with money to arrange Dorm Six accommodation and later issue travel papers 18 22.
