Background / History
Family and the Cloud-Hidden Pavilion
Luo Jin is the son of Luo Cheng, the manor lord of Heavenly Cloud Manor. His family’s influence enabled him to establish a substantial force using his father’s trusted aides, rather than building it entirely by himself 119 1289.
As master of the Cloud-Hidden Pavilion, Luo Jin has access to an organization with branches across the continent. His father once appeared under the pavilion master’s identity to deter trouble, explaining why outsiders could associate the position with a much stronger cultivator without knowing its actual holder’s appearance 348 1178.
Meeting Xiao Yan and Fighting Yun Lang
Luo Jin first encounters Xiao Yan while observing him after an unsuccessful attempt to repair the Heavy Xuan Ruler. He draws Xiao Yan into following him by suggesting that he knows a way to repair it; Xiao Yan introduces himself under the name Yan Xiao 67.
The two cooperate to obtain the Heavenly Palace Jade Essence from Yun Lang, the Cloud-Splitting Wolf. While Xiao Yan searches the cave, Luo Jin holds off the Eight-Star Half-Emperor outside. He deploys the Taiyi Star Disk, a blood-seal enhancement, and Annihilation Palm, but the difference in cultivation leaves him gravely injured 71 72 73 74.
Xiao Yan rescues him just before Yun Lang can deliver a fatal blow. Even after regaining consciousness, Luo Jin urges Xiao Yan to flee rather than fight alone. Their survival of the battle makes them friends who have shared life and death 75 80.
Luo Jin subsequently admits that he cannot refine weapons himself and directs Xiao Yan to Elder Luo in Ancient Wilderness City. Months later, he proposes cooperating to obtain an inheritance from the Heavenly Severing Ancient Tomb, offering to handle the Four Great Sects while Xiao Yan takes advantage of the opening 80 119 120.
Ancient Wilderness City and Mu Han
During Xiao Yan’s stay in Ancient Wilderness City, Luo Jin supports him through dangerous alchemy-related incidents and serves as his sparring partner. Their duel becomes the first full demonstration of Xiao Yan’s Sevenfold Heaven-Breaking Ruler; Luo Jin’s defenses are overwhelmed, and Elder Luo intervenes to stop the final attack 218 237 238 240.
When Mu Han and his companions attend the auction, Luo Jin disguises himself as an attendant and seals them inside their VIP room with the Taiyi Star Disk. Afterward, Xiao Yan explicitly calls him a brother rather than merely a friend 274 275.
Following Xiao Yan’s presumed death in the Void Lightning Pool, Luo Jin doubts the reports and prevents Elder Xuan from seeking immediate revenge. A description of a young, black-robed Half-Emperor wielding brilliant flames gives them renewed reason to suspect that Xiao Yan survived 313.
After Xiao Yan returns, Luo Jin prevents him from killing Mu Han because Mu Han is needed to operate the city’s interregional teleportation formation. He later publicly reveals his identity as pavilion master while helping secure their passage to the Western Region 334 345 348.
The Four Great Sects and Independent Training
In the Western Region, Luo Jin stands beside Xiao Yan against the Four Great Sects’ attempt to seize the Heavenly Severing Steps. He gives Xiao Yan an Emperor Grade Pill, confronts the sect masters, and exhausts the Taiyi Star Disk’s power to help block Wu Jitian’s attack 361 363.
The confrontation exposes the limits of his personal strength despite his political protection. Trapped alongside Zhang Yi, he suffers repeated injuries and cannot break free when Xiao Yan is pierced by a giant sword. The sect masters nevertheless hesitate to kill him because they fear retaliation from the forces behind the Cloud-Hidden Pavilion 372 374 375.
During Xiao Yan’s subsequent six-month coma, Luo Jin wants to send forces against the sects, but Luo Ao forbids it. Luo Ao later restricts his ability to command the pavilion at will and sends him out to gain experience, insisting that he cannot remain under his elders’ protection forever 378 382.
Years later, Luo Jin reunites with Xiao Yan and Luo Ao in the Heavenly Severing Ancient Tomb. Although his cultivation has reached Mid-Stage Eight-Star Dou Di, he refuses Xiao Yan’s invitation to spar after witnessing Xiao Yan’s overwhelming combat strength 922.
Southern Region Travels
Upon their next reunion, Luo Jin warns Xiao Yan that Sea Cloud Palace may attack the Liu Clan in Qingyang City. He accompanies Xiao Yan toward the Southern Region, only to find Lengcui City massacred and its teleportation formation destroyed. Remembering Luo Ao’s warning, Luo Jin suspects Zhang Yi; Xiao Yan separately detects traces of Ghost Hall’s black Qi 1091 1092.
During their later travels, Luo Jin rushes to defend a woman he recognizes from an aerial battle, striking fiercely enough to drive back two opponents of comparable cultivation. At Burning Flame Valley, he explains how Xiao Yan might earn an audience with the valley master and clarifies the earlier confusion surrounding the Cloud-Hidden Pavilion master’s identity 1134 1169 1178.
Heavenly Cloud Manor
At Heavenly Cloud Manor, Luo Jin arranges accommodations for Xiao Yan’s party and guides them through the estate. He explains the Central Region’s major powers and the Heavenly Cloud Sacred Artifact Ranking, an artifact left by a Luo Clan ancestor 1291.
He later escorts Xiao Yan to the Heavenly Formation Platform, which Luo Cheng has cleared for the refinement of a sixth-tier Soul-Forging Pill. By this period, Luo Jin has attained Origin King-level strength 1317 1324.
Appearance
- Build: Slender and youthful; his early battle with Yun Lang emphasizes his thin frame 72.
- Eyes: Black, becoming visibly cold or furious when he confronts threats to Xiao Yan 361 374.
- Clothing: Introduced in green robes; later appears in black robes at the ancient tomb and white clothing at Heavenly Cloud Manor 67 922 1289.
- Characteristic accessory: Carries the lustrous white Brushing Jade Fan, which also serves as a combat implement 238.
Personality
Luo Jin is usually calm, observant, and calculating. Elder Luo considers his powers of observation sharp enough that keeping him nearby might expose an attempt to conceal Xiao Yan’s dangerous predicament. His auction-room trap likewise relies on manipulating Mu Han’s suspicion rather than confronting him directly 165 274.
His shrewdness coexists with strong sentiment and loyalty. After knowing Xiao Yan for only two days, he resolves to repay his consideration by holding off Yun Lang despite the danger. He later values Xiao Yan not only for his potential, but also for his willingness to risk himself for someone who once helped him 71 324.
He also has a playful side, teasing Xiao Yan and trading jokes with his elders. Xiao Yan describes him as ordinarily mature and steady but prone to sudden fooling around 165 335 382.
Luo Jin enjoys scenery and relaxation, partly because ordinary cultivation is unusually inefficient for his cultivation method. Romantic feelings can leave him conspicuously distracted, while danger to someone he cares about brings out a much fiercer response 1133 1134.
Abilities & Skills
Resource-Dependent Cultivation Method
Luo Jin practices an unusual method through which nearly all his strength comes from heavenly materials and earthly treasures 1133.
- Rapid advancement: The Heavenly Palace Jade Essence enables his four-star rise over two years 336.
- Slow conventional training: Ordinary cultivation produces gains more slowly for him than for most cultivators 1133.
- Adjustment requirement: Rapidly acquired strength must be consolidated before he can advance further 336.
- Resource support: Heavenly Cloud Manor supplies many of the resources behind his later Origin King-level cultivation 1324.
Blood-Seal Enhancement
Luo Jin uses his own blood to form a seal, then incorporates more than three hundred hand seals into it 72.
- Raises his strength from Four-Star Half-Emperor to Five-Star Half-Emperor equivalent.
- Restores his presence beyond its previous peak despite serious injuries.
- Does not remove the burden of high-level techniques: Annihilation Palm still rapidly depletes him afterward 72 73.
Annihilation Palm
A Human Class Dou Technique used against Yun Lang while the wolf is restrained by the Taiyi Star Disk 73.
- Draws visible streams of natural energy into Luo Jin’s palm.
- Demands enormous amounts of Dou Qi even under his temporary enhancement.
- Makes Yun Lang take defensive precautions, but the collision’s shock waves also blast Luo Jin away 73.
Breeze Slash
A fan-based technique that shapes wind into a blade, accompanied by cyan Dou Qi 240.
- Counters an earlier ruler strike during Luo Jin’s spar with Xiao Yan.
- Breaks when Xiao Yan fuses successive ruler lights into a stronger attack.
- Requires preparation time, as do the Human Class techniques used in their duel 240.
Crystal-Like Cyan Hand
An unnamed trump card released through rapid hand seals and concentrated Dou Qi 240.
- Produces a cyan hand that expands to ten thousand feet tall.
- Briefly matches Xiao Yan’s fused ruler light.
- Is ultimately shattered by the completed seven-strike attack 240.
Soul Power and Technical Knowledge
Luo Jin can project Spiritual Strength, though its exact tier is not specified. He also possesses broad knowledge of regional powers, formations, and cultivation phenomena 71 923 1291.
- Recognizes Xiao Yan’s black barrier as the Power of the Great Dao, though he cannot initially identify which Dao it embodies 334.
- Knows that Ancient Wilderness City’s interregional teleportation formation requires at least a Third-Tier Formation Master 334.
- Explicitly lacks weapon-refining expertise, having concentrated on cultivation since childhood 80.
Equipment / Items
- Taiyi Star Disk — Uses a replica to restrain Yun Lang, though it cannot fully subdue him. Later seals Mu Han’s auction room and helps Luo Jin withstand Wu Jitian’s restrained punch; its power can be exhausted 72 274 363.
- Brushing Jade Fan — Lustrous white fan used to execute Breeze Slash. Luo Jin can feed essence blood into its leaves, producing blood-red lines and a powerful, bloodthirsty presence 238 240 364.
- Heavenly Palace Jade Essence — Treasure obtained through his cooperation with Xiao Yan and refined to accelerate his cultivation 80 336.
- Emerald-green jade pendant — Produces spatial ripples that allow him to enter Elder Luo’s concealed space 165.
- Mirror-Breaking Pill — Receives one from Xiao Yan during the group’s stay at Burning Flame Valley 1196.
Relationships

- Luo Cheng — His father and the manor lord of Heavenly Cloud Manor. Supplies trusted aides and once impersonated the pavilion master to protect the organization 119 1178 1289.
- Luo Ao / Elder Luo — His elder, addressed as “Fifth Grandpa.” Protects and teases him, but eventually restricts his reliance on family influence and sends him out for independent training 165 378 382.
- Elder Xuan — Cloud-Hidden Pavilion elder who works with Luo Jin, shares information with him, and accepts his argument against prematurely avenging Xiao Yan 231 313.
- Zhang Yi — His guardian during the Western Region conflict, protecting him inside the sects’ formation. Luo Jin later suspects him of involvement in Lengcui City’s destruction after recalling Luo Ao’s warning 372 378 1092.
- Li Bingrui — The subject of Luo Jin’s evident romantic interest. He repeatedly directs conversation toward her; she later agrees to postpone her revenge because of him 1291 1295 1317.
- Mu Han — An adversary whom Luo Jin traps and confronts, but also keeps alive because Xiao Yan needs his teleportation services 274 334 345.
- Four Great Sects — Enemies arising from their pursuit of Xiao Yan and the Heavenly Severing Steps. Luo Jin wants to retaliate against them, but Luo Ao prevents him from resolving the conflict through borrowed forces 363 378.
