He looked like a clay figure buried underground for ten thousand years, its surface oxidized and mottled.
Only the upper half of his face, from his nose up, retained its original color.
He no longer looked like the ruler of the Heavenly Court. He looked like a dying old man.
Liu Mang's heart lurched.
"I'll get You Wen!"
"Don't!"
Di Jun gasped for breath. Those two words seemed to have drained all his strength.
He sat in the void, using every bit of his cultivation to resist the encroaching deathly energy.
Layer upon layer of spatial power surrounded him. It looked less like a prison than a shield.
It took Di Jun a long while to recover. He looked at Liu Mang and continued, "I don't want him to see me like this."
"I heard you arranged for You Wen to earn Merit by Mending the Heavens. That's why I had you brought here."
Liu Mang glanced at Qiang Liang. Qiang Liang did not deny it; clearly, he was the one who had told Di Jun.
"How did he end up here?!" Liu Mang asked Qiang Liang.
Qiang Liang gave no answer. He merely looked up at Di Jun.
"I asked Qiang Liang to bring me. Didn't see that coming, did you? If even you couldn't guess, no one else would." A trace of smugness entered Di Jun's voice.
Damn it, was that something to be pleased about?
