Background
Di Jun initially ruled the Demon Race through the Heavenly Court. Though he had inherited Hong Huang's prevailing culture of conquest, he increasingly questioned whether endless fighting and killing was the proper path for the Yao Race 13. Liu Mang's remarks pushed him to reconsider conflict with the Witch Tribe and pursue the support of all Yao and the unification of the myriad races as a path toward Proving Dao 18.
This change made Di Jun less impulsive and more patient. Nu Wa observes that the formerly overbearing ruler had become a determined strategist, though Di Jun still struggled to reconcile the demands of the Witch Tribe, Demon Race, and other races with Hong Huang's finite resources 19.
Appearance
Di Jun is a Golden Crow born from the Sun Star, associated with scorching True Sun Flame and capable of controlling it precisely enough that Liu Mang is unharmed while standing beside him 15.
- His pupils retain visible True Sun Flame even when he suppresses his usual fiery aura 141.
- He can assume a Golden Crow form 263.
- While afflicted by Calamity Qi, his Golden Crow form became dull and deathly; his body appeared cracked and mottled like aged terracotta 263.
- He later possesses a vast, mysterious aura in addition to his concealed solar flame 141.
Personality
Di Jun is pragmatic, reflective, and increasingly restrained. Rather than treating the Witch Tribe as an enemy to be defeated at any cost, he attempts to reduce conflict and redirect the Yao Race toward governance, responsibility, and collective survival 18 36.
He remains proud and forceful as a ruler, particularly when confronting Di Jiang or directing his subordinates, but his policies show a willingness to change when presented with evidence of a larger danger 36 37. He is also protective of those he considers his people or allies: he safeguards the Human Race within Heavenly Court territory, gives life-saving feathers to young Yao and Witch children, and later protects Hou Tu during her Dao-Proving despite their history as enemies 66 143 312.
Abilities & Skills
True Sun Flame
As a Golden Crow, Di Jun wields True Sun Flame with exceptional control 15.
- Can envelop his entire body in blazing flame without harming a nearby Liu Mang 15.
- His flame remains visible in his eyes even when he suppresses his aura 141.
- His anger can cause the flame around him to surge and tremble 15.
Realm Creation and the Dao of Yao
Di Jun created the Yao Realm and used this act to attain Sainthood 311 316.
- All Yao entering the Yao Realm can comprehend the Dao of Yao among the Three Thousand Great Daos 316.
- The realm's Dao of Yao is incomplete at first, but can develop toward a path to Sainthood as its inhabitants become more numerous and powerful 316.
- He later relocates the Yao Race to the Yao Realm to remove them from Hong Huang's escalating Karma and Calamity Qi 350.
Spatial Insight
Di Jun gained a trace of spatial power through Di Jiang's protection and assistance in stripping Calamity Qi from him 316.
- Di Jiang used the Law of Space to isolate and transport Di Jun's remaining Primordial Spirit into the Chaos 263.
- Di Jun identifies this experience, together with the vitality released when Calamity Qi was removed, as the basis for his creation of the Yao Realm 316.
Leadership and Strategy
Di Jun governs through both forceful discipline and long-term planning.
- Imposed severe penalties on Yao who exploited or slaughtered other races, seeking to keep the Yao Race from worsening the coming calamity 36.
- Consults Bai Ze as a regular strategic adviser 61.
- Recognized Liu Mang's insight into the Yao Race's future and sought to keep him close to the Heavenly Court 37 62.
- Ordered that no one, including the Ten Great Demon Gods, could freely enter or leave Human Race territory under Heavenly Court protection 66.
Equipment / Items
- River Diagram and Luo Script — Used to establish additional restrictions during secret discussions; later lent to Fu Xi so he could derive the Taiji and Eight Trigrams 66 415.
- Golden Crow wing feathers — Feathers shed during Di Jun's youth. A single feather can withstand an attack from a Mahayana Fierce Beast for the time it takes to brew a cup of tea 143.
Relationships
- Liu Mang — Strategic confidant and adviser. Di Jun offers him status equal to the Demon Master in hopes of learning how to avert the Yao Race's calamity, and later credits Liu Mang's hidden guidance for much of his path 37 62 318.
- Tai Yi — His younger brother and the Eastern Emperor. Di Jun relies on him in Heavenly Court affairs, though Tai Yi later resents Di Jun and secretly seeks Hong Jun's help to replace him as Heavenly Emperor 66 263 335.
- Xi He — His consort. Di Jun shares the danger facing the Demon Race with her after she objects to his treatment of their children 70.
- The Nine Golden Crow Princes — His sons. Di Jun arrives during their dispute with Liu Mang and feels sympathy for them after witnessing Liu Mang verbally overwhelm them 65.
- Bai Ze — Military adviser whose counsel Di Jun habitually seeks; Di Jun entrusts him with escorting Fu Xi and inviting Liu Mang to the Heavenly Court 61 62.

- Hou Tu — A former enemy whom Di Jun protects as Guardian during her Dao-Proving, honoring obligations established through his reconciliation with the Witch Tribe 312.
- Nu Wa — A fellow Yao Saint and frequent political opponent. Di Jun later joins Yuanshi and Hou Tu in attempting to seize Human Dao authority from her 408.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Reforming the Heavenly Court
Di Jun begins reconsidering the Yao Race's reliance on violence after Liu Mang challenges his assumptions. He shifts toward consolidating Yao support, reducing conflict with the Witch Tribe, and seeking a new route to Proving Dao 13 18.
When the coming Witch–Yao calamity becomes clear, he disciplines Demon Gods who have used other races as blood food or materials for treasures. His decree is intended to curb the Yao Race's accumulated Karma and prevent further escalation 36.
Protection of the Human Race
At Fu Xi's request, Di Jun accepts part of the newly created Human Race under Heavenly Court protection 61 62. He establishes strict limits on access to Human territory after Liu Mang warns that human souls and essence blood could become weapons used to destroy the Witch and Yao races 66.
Calamity Qi and Apparent Fall
Di Jun is struck by Calamity Qi after intervening to save A'dai from a Witch attacker carrying the corruption 263. Because his Karma is tied to the entire Yao Race, the Calamity Qi rapidly consumes his Primordial Spirit 263.
To prevent the corruption from spreading, Di Jun transfers it into Liu Mang's External Incarnation, Calamity Qi. His Primordial Spirit then extinguishes, and Di Jiang takes its remaining trace into the Chaos; Hong Huang witnesses his apparent fall through a blood rain and the shattering of his life lamp 263.
Return and Proving Dao
Di Jun returns from the Chaos as a Saint while Hou Tu is preparing to establish Reincarnation 311. He reveals that Di Jiang's assistance in removing Calamity Qi gave him insight into spatial power, allowing him to create the Yao Realm and Prove Dao 316.
Withdrawal to the Yao Realm
When Qian Kun continues accusing the Witch and Yao races of rebellion despite their efforts to reduce Karma, Di Jun rejects further negotiation 350. He leads the Yao Race out of Hong Huang and into the Yao Realm, offering the realm's origin to strengthen Hong Huang in the process 350.
Contest for Human Dao Authority
Di Jun later seeks authority over the Human Dao alongside Hou Tu and Yuanshi. When Nu Wa refuses to yield, he attacks her with the River Diagram and Luo Script while Xuan Du refines the Kongtong Seal 408.
