Power Progression
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Prenatal nourishment | 898 | Spends nine years absorbing Tang Yuehua’s Creation Spirit Power. Ah Yin’s origin power and Clear Sky Clan resources sustain his development. |
| Third Martial Spirit acquired | 943 945 | The Nine-Headed Blood Bat’s Immolation gives him the Nine-Headed Bat King Martial Spirit and an externally attached wing Spirit Bone approaching a million years in age. Its spatial ability is revealed during his escape from Dieying. |
| Four-hundred-thousand-year head Spirit Bone | 945 | Receives an exceptionally old head bone, adding to his near-million-year wing bone. |
| Peak Soul King | 966 | Can contend with a peak Spirit Emperor and briefly resist a Soul Sage. Incompletely refined Spirit Bones weaken his Spirit Power control. |
| Spirit Emperor | 1006 | Confirmed at this realm during the final. Controlling the Holy Tiger War God temporarily grants Peerless Douluo-level combat power without raising his personal cultivation. |
| Million-year Eight Spider Lances | 1007 | Reveals an externally attached Spirit Bone evolved from the thousand-year level. Combined with his own body and Tang Sect arts, it lets him contend with a Spirit Douluo. |
| Xiao Wu’s first Immolation | 1009 | Her hundred-thousand-year Spirit Ring and Spirit Bone repair his shattered chest and revive him. |
| Forced extraction and severe regression | 1011 1014 | Wang Hao removes Spirit Rings, Spirit Bones, and absorbed immortal-herb power, grievously damaging his body and soul. Tang Hao must suppress his injuries to keep him alive. |
| Blue Silver Emperor Ghost Vine; level seventy | 1019 | Over three years, the Blue Silver Emperor Spirit Bone enables the Creation Divine Instruction and evolves his plant Martial Spirit. He gains the Blue Silver Domain, restores his foundation, and reaches level seventy, still requiring a suitable ring to become a Spirit Sage. |
| Two hundred-thousand-year sacrifices | 1025 | Xiao Wu and the Sky Azure Bull Python revive him through Immolation, granting two hundred-thousand-year Spirit Rings and two matching Spirit Bones. |
| Spirit Douluo | 1034 | Confirmed after the Abyssal conflict, when he proposes founding an independent Tang Sect. |
| Level 100 god; three Godhoods | 1042 1044 | Possesses three inherited Godhoods and combat power comparable to a Third-Level God. He does not create his own Godhoods. |
| God King and God Realm enforcer | 1046 1049 | Ten thousand years after ascending, he is identified as a God King. His three Godhoods and two super divine artifacts make him the God Realm’s strongest fighter at that time. |
| Deity Domain | 1059 | Retrospectively described as the fusion of his Noble Ring, Sea God, Asura, and Blue Silver Domains after becoming a deity. |
| God King Domain | 1059 | His natal domain evolves again after he truly masters God King power. |
| God Emperor Domain | 1059 | Mastery of the God Realm Core turns his domain into a miniature God Realm. He draws on the Great God Circle Core to contest control of the Three Thousand Devil Gods Grand Array. |
Background and History
Transmigration and altered parentage
Tang San belonged to the Tang Sect before transmigrating and later sought to recreate its inheritance in the Douluo World. Wang Hao identifies his apparent rebirth as possession: the body’s original true spirit remains within the Clear Sky Hammer Martial Spirit. He concludes that an unknown powerful being arranged the process rather than Tang San accomplishing it himself 932 1034.
Unlike the original course of fate, in which Ah Yin was his mother, this Tang San is born to Tang Hao and Tang Yuehua. His nine-year gestation consumes nearly all the Creation Spirit Power Tang Yuehua cultivates. Before his birth, he also reveals the Douluo Continent’s spatial coordinates to Tang Chen, giving the displaced clan a route home 898 914.
Tang Chen and Tang Zhen regard him as the Clear Sky Clan’s future hope. Tang Yuehua plans to make Ah Yin’s child, Little Nine, a Spirit Master and Tang San’s close brother, hoping that their bond will protect her son and the clan from Little Nine’s powerful father 898.
Immortal herbs and the tournament
Tang San accompanies Dugu Bo into the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well while Wang Hao is occupied fighting an alien fleet. His plant Martial Spirit opens the protective barrier, allowing them to gather medicinal herbs, uproot the Blue Silver Grass, and flee 900.
The stolen herbs become a recurring source of conflict. Wang Hao criticizes Tang San for failing to use them to treat teachers injured while protecting him. Tang San later refuses to provide suitable herbs for five gravely injured Canghui students, claiming that his lineage elders have already used them 914 928.
His intensified mental attack on Canghui’s Seven Asura Illusion Realm causes catastrophic injuries. Qian Renxue holds him responsible for two deaths and five dying students; Dieying later challenges him to avenge six dead teammates. Wang Hao condemns both his judgment and his attempts to evade responsibility afterward 930 934 935 943.
Tang San suffers several reversals during the tournament:
- Dieying: Her Seven Asura Sword Formation overwhelms him, forcing him to reveal spatial teleportation and escape the arena 943.
- Meng Yiran: He withstands her attacks with Blue Silver Cage until she withdraws 948.
- Shui Bing’er: Her accumulating extreme cold threatens to exceed his limited ice immunity despite his destruction of ten enormous ice crystals 955.
- Little Nine: Little Nine seizes his Clear Sky Hammer and turns its accumulated force against him. The Nine-Headed Bat King takes control of Tang San’s body to teleport him away, and Botanical Academy wins 966 967.
His friendship with Oscar also collapses. After the Eight-Petal Immortal Orchid extracted from Oscar passes to Ning Qingfeng, Tang San claims that he supplied a second orchid. Dugu Yan exposes the explanation as a lie, deepening Oscar’s break with Shrek 979.
Final duel and first sacrifice
Tang San repeatedly refuses Little Nine’s requests to withdraw from the tournament with Xiao Wu. He insists that he will protect her and treats Little Nine’s concern as interference with his fiancée 949 1004.
During the final, he controls the Holy Tiger War God before dismissing the exhausted Shrek group and fighting Little Nine alone. Their duel leaves both mortally wounded: Little Nine tears out Tang San’s heart, while Tang San pierces and poisons him with Bodhi Blood and the Eight Spider Lances. Xiao Wu divides the Yearning Heartbroken Red between them to begin healing both 1006 1007.
During the subsequent breakout, Tang San pushes Xiao Wu away from an incoming spear and suffers a devastating chest wound. She uses Immolation to revive him, fulfilling a situation the Clear Sky Clan had deliberately arranged. Wang Hao subsequently removes the sacrificial Ring and Bone while resurrecting Xiao Wu and extracts the stolen medicinal power from Tang San’s body 1008 1009 1011.
Recovery, the Abyss, and the Tang Sect
Ah Yin helps treat Tang San and seeks her former Spirit Bone as a medium for him to cultivate the Creation Divine Instruction. Little Nine relinquishes it through Xiao Wu, requiring her to return permanently to the Star Dou Great Forest 1014 1015.
Over the following three years, Tang San recovers, improves his foundation, and evolves his Martial Spirit into the Blue Silver Emperor Ghost Vine. He also treats members of other factions injured by the extraction of their medicinal power, easing their hostility toward the Clear Sky Clan 1019.
During the Abyssal invasion, Tang San enters battle despite Tang Zhen’s warning. His enhanced hidden weapons kill several god-level creatures, but one Buddha’s Fury Tang Lotus fails to release its Asura God Power. A creature’s counterattack pierces his chest. Xiao Wu and the dying Sky Azure Bull Python sacrifice themselves to revive him, after which Tang Zhen escapes with him through a teleportation array disc 1022 1024 1025.
Tang San then proposes an independent Tang Sect built around the arts he brought from his former world. Little Nine’s continuing pursuit forces the new sect to operate covertly without a permanent headquarters. Its poison, hidden weapons, and ruthless methods lead to its classification as a dark power 1034 1039.
Godhood and manipulation of later generations
After escaping to the Sun and Moon Continent, Tang San ascends to the God Realm and eventually becomes an enforcer and God King. He resurrects Xiao Wu using the Spirit Ring and Spirit Bone she sacrificed; she remains his subordinate god without a Godhood of her own 1046 1051.
Dugu Yan later exposes his interference in Huo Yuhao and Tang Wutong’s relationship. She accuses him of arranging their meeting and planning to use Xu Yunhan to connect the empires. Her revelation that Xu Yunhan is actually her grandson overturns the child’s assumed place in his scheme 1047.
Little Nine’s sons overwhelm Tang San’s group after evidence exposes their persecution of Juzi. Xiao Wu’s projection persuades Little Nine to spare Tang San, but he confiscates the divine artifacts associated with all three of Tang San’s Godhoods 1051.
Exposure and death
Huo Yuhao eventually accuses Tang San of using him to seize the Douluo World’s Fortune and intending to kill him after his Godhood crumbled. Tang San’s failure to deny the accusation devastates Tang Wutong 1067.
Dieying then searches Tang Chen’s memories and exposes the clan’s role in opening a passage to the Abyssal Plane. Tang Chen recounts the plan to induce Xiao Wu and Great Ming to sacrifice themselves for Tang San. Confronted with the evidence, Tang San cannot explain himself; his children recoil from him, and his weapons fall from his hands 1071.
Xiao Wu leaves him. The Spirit Beast leadership seals the surrounding space, preventing his escape, and the Silver Dragon King attacks. She kills and beheads him while his mind is in turmoil 1072.
Appearance
- Early appearance: A handsome youth during the tournament 949.
- Later transformation: Cultivating the Nine-Headed Bat King changes his formerly ordinary features into a wickedly handsome face with an aura of Evil Qi 1039.
- Concealment: Wears a black hooded robe while keeping the Tang Sect hidden from Little Nine 1039.
- Combat features: Can manifest blood-red bat wings and the Eight Spider Lances from his back 945 1007.
Personality
Tang San is calculating, competitive, and determined to preserve an undefeated record. He regards continual victory as necessary to cultivate an invincible powerhouse’s heart, and his pursuit of tournament prizes reinforces his unwillingness to withdraw 930 949.
His upbringing emphasizes clan interests and personal advantage. The narration attributes this outlook to the Tang Sect’s narrow education in his first life and to Tang Yuehua’s aristocratic instruction and Tang Zhen’s lineage-centered teaching in his second. Wang Hao’s interference makes him more ruthless and unscrupulous than his original-fate counterpart 939 1071.
His affection is not wholly feigned. He feels remorse when his teammates accept the consequences of his actions, cannot ignore threats to his companions, and instinctively shields Xiao Wu from a lethal attack. The narration explicitly states that his declaration of love for her is sincere 939 943 1009.
That attachment coexists with jealousy and self-preservation. He becomes willing to kill Little Nine over his perceived interest in Xiao Wu. Much later, he hesitates when offered the chance to bear a potentially lethal burden in her place, worrying that his death would expose his family’s secrets 965 1064.
Abilities and Skills
Triple Martial Spirits
| Martial Spirit | Capabilities and limitations |
|---|---|
| Blue Silver Ghost Vine | His inherited plant Martial Spirit, derived from Tang Yuehua’s mutation under Ah Yin’s origin power. It is inferior to the Blue Silver Emperor and initially lacks that bloodline. Little Nine can suppress it and potentially turn it into nourishment 965. |
| Blue Silver Emperor Ghost Vine | Evolves after he fuses with the Blue Silver Emperor Spirit Bone. Grants the Blue Silver Domain and exceeds the power of his former Blue Silver Ice Fire Ghost Vine 1019. |
| Clear Sky Hammer | His second Martial Spirit and principal heavy weapon. Tang Hao trains him to use it alongside the Nine-Headed Bat King. It has no Spirit Rings during his final solo tournament duel with Little Nine 965 1007. |
| Nine-Headed Bat King | Acquired through Immolation. Provides spatial abilities and accompanies the near-million-year bat-wing Spirit Bone. It can take control of his body to preserve his life 945 967 1040. |
- Control-system foundation: Tang San is a control-type Spirit Master, but his Tang Sect arts and additional Martial Spirits also support power-attack and agility-attack combat 965.
- Blue Silver Cage: Defends against Meng Yiran’s repeated attacks 948.
- Neurotoxin: Numbs his teammates’ pain during the Holy Tiger War God fusion, helping prevent its collapse under Little Nine’s Evil Fire 1006.
- Elemental resistance: Possesses fire immunity and limited ice immunity; sufficiently powerful Evil Fire or accumulated extreme cold can overcome those protections 955 965.
Tang Sect Secret Arts
- Mysterious Heaven Skill: His foundational Tang Sect cultivation method. He has not reached its highest realm, Three Flowers Gather at the Crown, during the tournament final 869 1006.
- Purple Demon Eye: Enhances perception and spiritual power. His observation surpasses even some Titled Douluo, allowing detailed analysis of opponents’ Spirit Power expenditure and techniques 947 949 962.
- Purple Demon Annihilation Divine Light: An eye-fired spiritual attack used to critically injure Oscar during his hammer assault 993.
- Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track: Unpredictable footwork designed to complement hidden weapons. Its straight-line speed is comparatively ordinary, limiting its usefulness against enormous area attacks 1006.
- Controlling Crane Catching Dragon: A Tang Sect control technique included among the inheritances underpinning his combat strength 869.
- Mysterious Jade Hand: A Tang Sect hand technique; he uses it while holding Xiao Wu’s hand during their breakout 869 1009.
Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer Technique
Tang San uses Tang Hao’s improved version, which accumulates force through successive hammer strikes 993.
- Each strike can add roughly the user’s own strength; continued accumulation depends on sufficient control 993.
- He applies it through the Holy Tiger War God’s Thunder Warhammer as well as his hammer-based fighting style 993 1006.
- Little Nine’s ability to seize Tool Martial Spirits forces him to interrupt or avoid hammer attacks 1007.
Hidden Weapons and Poisons
- Bodhi Blood: The Tang Sect’s second-ranked hidden weapon. Tang San produces six blades against Little Nine, short of its nine-blade maximum; each additional blade doubles its power 1007.
- Guanyin’s Tear: The highest-ranked Tang Sect hidden weapon. His cultivation is insufficient to produce it during the tournament final 1006 1007.
- Mechanical hidden weapons: Supplies the Clear Sky Clan with designs for the Peacock Plume, Torrential Rain Pear Blossom Needles, and Buddha’s Fury Tang Lotus 1024.
- God-slaying enhancement: Uses Buddha’s Fury Tang Lotuses personally crafted by Tang Chen and infused with Asura God Power to kill god-level Abyssal creatures 1024.
- Eight Spider Lances toxin: Poisons Little Nine so severely that the Yearning Heartbroken Red struggles to counteract it 1007.
Holy Tiger War God
Tang San directs Shrek’s Group Martial Spirit Fusion Skill, shaping its form to accommodate his combat techniques 1006.
- Temporarily grants him Peerless Douluo-level combat power while he remains a Spirit Emperor 1006.
- Uses a Thunder Warhammer and the Bloodthirsty Soul Breaking Thrust, a tail formed from the Bloodthirsty Sword and Soul Breaking Spear 1006.
- Ring-derived Spirit Skills become unavailable during fusion, and Spirit Bone skills are heavily affected; self-created techniques remain central to its offense 1006.
- Heavy consumption exhausts the supporting teammates and eventually forces him to dismiss the fusion 993 1007.
Creation Divine Instruction
- The Blue Silver Emperor Spirit Bone provides the medium needed for him to cultivate the method 1015 1019.
- Supports his recovery, stabilizes cultivation previously gained through external assistance, and allows him to treat other injured faction members 1019.
- Its benefits largely accrue to his Blue Silver Emperor Ghost Vine rather than directly strengthening his body; at level seventy, he still cannot withstand a hundred-thousand-year ring’s impact without sacrifice 1019.
Domains and Spatial Abilities
- Noble Ring Domain: Weakens Seiya and his teammates during their tournament match 985.
- God Emperor Domain: The final documented evolution of his natal domain, functioning as a miniature God Realm 1059.
- Spatial escape: His Nine-Headed Bat King possesses several spatial Spirit Skills, repeatedly allowing him to escape Little Nine 1040.
- Countermeasure: Little Nine develops a military formation sealing space within ten thousand li specifically to prevent those escapes 1040.
Equipment, Weapons, and Items
- Eight Spider Lances: Million-year externally attached Spirit Bone with piercing, poison, and devouring properties. Still manifested in his final confrontation 1007 1071.
- Blood-red bat wings: Externally attached Spirit Bone approaching a million years old, associated with his third Martial Spirit and spatial escape 945.
- Four-hundred-thousand-year head Spirit Bone: Reinforces his substantial spiritual power 945 993.
- Sea God Trident: Super divine artifact used against Dugu Yan’s powerful ally; confiscated by Little Nine 1049 1051.
- Asura Devil Sword / Asura God Sword: Super divine artifact associated with his Asura power. Confiscated in the earlier confrontation, but wielded again during later events 1049 1051 1064.
- Unnamed top-grade divine artifact: The third artifact associated with his three Godhoods; seized alongside the two super divine artifacts 1051.
- Great God Circle Core: Draws on the entire Great God Circle to empower his domain 1059.
- Reforged trident: Wielded alongside the Asura God Sword and Eight Spider Lances in his final battle with the Silver Dragon King 1071.

Notable Quotes
“I've known you were a Spirit Beast for a long time, but so what? All I know is that you're my fiancée, the only person I'll ever love in this life. No one in this world can stop us from being together!” 1009
“If you run into difficulties in the future and need me, just say the word. No matter how many mountains and rivers lie between us, I, Tang San, will come.” 1018
Trivia
- Tang Yuehua chooses his name without being certain why it occurs to her. The scene connects “San,” meaning “three,” with Ah Yin’s former position as Third Sister in her sworn siblinghood with Tang Xiao and Tang Hao 898.
- Ah Yin’s origin power in his body causes Wang Hao to mistake her for his mother, reproducing his original-fate parentage as a misunderstanding 914.
- Wang Hao’s initial interest in Tang San lies less in his talent than in his extraordinary Fortune and the unknown beings manipulating his reincarnation and destiny 932 934.
