The towering flames gradually dissipated.
Thick smoke still billowed upward in an endless stream, blotting out the sky and sun.
The heavy smell of grease spread through the entire dormitory building, through all of Scarlet Preferred.
Room 302, at the center of the explosion, was already riddled with holes. Its door had shattered, and the balcony door and glass had all been smashed to pieces.
The outer wall on the left was even more pitted and battered. Though the wall itself had not collapsed, the rusted steel reinforcement inside had been exposed.
However, quite a few cracks had already appeared along the outside of the dormitory building.
As for the neighboring Room 304, even its walls had been blown down. Everything inside had been directly destroyed. As for the strange entity living there, it had surely vanished like smoke and scattered like ashes.
Of course, Room 202 below had also suffered an unfortunate fate. Its floor had been blown through, and everything below, along with every strange entity, had been utterly destroyed.
All of that had been caused by the aftershock of the explosion.
It had to be said that the dormitory building's construction quality was truly excellent.
Aside from Rooms 302, 202, and 304, Room 301 across the hall and Room 303 diagonally opposite only bore a few scorched marks. Other than being singed by the firelight, they seemed not to have been affected by the explosion's aftermath.
As for Room 402 upstairs, it had fared a little worse. Its entire ceiling had been blasted through.
The strange entity inside had likely been blown to ashes.
The strange entities living in Rooms 304 and 402 had truly suffered an undeserved disaster.
At the entrance to Room 301 lay a charred object.
At that moment, the charred figure twitched.
The next second, the charred figure struggled to stand up.
Mu Rufeng looked at his current appearance and felt utterly miserable.
His body shook, and the charred dead skin covering him instantly shattered, revealing Mu Rufeng's tender skin beneath.
His originally bronze skin had somehow been reborn through this incident. He had changed from a manly, sun-kissed man into a fair-skinned, handsome young man.
What was strange, though, was that he was completely bare—without even a single hair.
Whether it was his hair, eyebrows, body hair, or even the hair in certain private places, none of it could be seen.
"Where's my hair? Where the hell is my hair?" Mu Rufeng had also realized that all the hair on his body seemed to have been burned away.
"Plop!"
A charred object fell from the door.
Mu Rufeng froze for a moment, then stepped forward and snatched it up.
It was nothing else—it was the bandages, burned black and crispy.
The bandages slowly wriggled, exposing the items wrapped within.
A key, two candles, a box of Matches, two packs of cigarettes, a packet of betel nut, and the 2,178 Soul Coins Mu Rufeng had earned.
"Good work, good work. Can you still move?" Mu Rufeng looked at the intact Soul Coins and nodded in satisfaction.
The bandages wriggled again, seeming to respond to Mu Rufeng.
"As long as you can move, that's enough. Hurry up, turn into clothes for me to wear. Walking around with my bird hanging out is too damn embarrassing," Mu Rufeng said.
In the end, the bandages wrapped themselves around Mu Rufeng, transforming into a charred shirt and pants.
Although the clothes were blackened, at least he was no longer naked.
The bandages possessed self-healing properties. They would presumably return to their original appearance eventually.
He placed the Soul Coins and items back on his body as well, letting the bandages wrap them up.
"Right, where's the cleaver?"
Mu Rufeng had found that cleaver rather handy. If it had been destroyed, he would have found it quite a pity.
Just then, some movement came from within the hole-riddled Room 302.
Mu Rufeng walked over and looked down through the blown-out wall.
He saw a slender figure slowly rise from the rubble.
When Mu Rufeng saw who it was, his gaze abruptly narrowed.
It was a woman, extremely thin, but with a curvaceous figure that was definitely approaching an E-cup.
Although she was not wearing any clothes either, black mist shrouded her vital areas, making them impossible to see clearly.
"What tender skin. It must feel wonderful to bite into. Her blood should be sweet too, right?" Mu Rufeng swallowed unconsciously.
"M-My fat is gone! My fat is gone! You deserve to die! You deserve to die!!!"
The woman's gaze fell upon Mu Rufeng, and her expression immediately twisted into extreme savagery.
That familiar aura—it was the Dorm Manager.
Only, the Dorm Manager now possessed a figure and face no worse than Manager Liu's.
Presumably, Mu Rufeng had ignited the grease on the Dorm Manager's body, triggering the explosion and burning away all the fat stored within her, causing her to slim down.
The Dorm Manager—no, she should be called the Dorm Manager now—suddenly pushed off hard with her feet, seemingly intending to pounce upon Mu Rufeng and kill him.
Yet before she had leaped even half a meter, she cried out and collapsed weakly to the ground.
The Dorm Manager's strength was now almost entirely gone. Even an ordinary person could easily defeat her.
"Dorm Manager, you actually look quite pretty now."
Mu Rufeng jumped down from above and walked straight to the Dorm Manager's side.
"Eat you! I'll eat you!" the Dorm Manager shrieked, baring her fangs and brandishing her claws.
Mu Rufeng smiled, grabbed the Dorm Manager, exposed her tender neck, then bit down on it.
The Dorm Manager, who had been struggling wildly and attacking Mu Rufeng, stopped moving. Her hands fell limply to her sides.
After a long while, Mu Rufeng tossed the dried-up Dorm Manager onto the ground, his face still wearing an expression of enjoyment.
Although little energy remained inside the Dorm Manager, it was energy of a higher grade than that of the other strange entities. Their quality could not be spoken of in the same breath.
"I think I drank a little too much—~~burp!" Mu Rufeng rubbed his belly and let out a full belch.
A wave of drowsiness rose within him.
After eating and drinking his fill, it was time to sleep and rest, to digest the energy inside his body.
"Right, I almost forgot—the cleaver." Mu Rufeng searched through the rubble, but did not find it.
He then jumped up from Room 202 and looked around. In the end, he found his cleaver embedded in the door of Room 303.
The force of the explosion had driven the cleaver directly into the door, leaving only the handle exposed.
When Mu Rufeng pulled the cleaver free, a notch appeared in the door.
Behind that notch was a bloodshot eye, terribly eerie.
"It's so late. Why aren't you asleep? Don't you have work tomorrow?" Mu Rufeng barked.
The next second, the owner of that eye had its pupil contract sharply before it vanished at once.
From beginning to end, not the slightest sound came from Room 303.
He inspected the cleaver and found it completely intact, without the slightest damage from the explosion.
He immediately stored the cleaver inside the bandages, then took out the key and opened the door to Room 301.
After locking the door, Mu Rufeng set an alarm and lay down on the bed. Before long, he fell into a deep sleep.
