History

Training Under Rosalyne

Rosalyne trained Odette from childhood, teaching her how to survive but struggling to express affection or approval. Rosalyne later recognizes that her attempts at praise tend to become demands for harsher training, and that she has never properly acknowledged the wrongs she committed toward Odette 163.

Odette grows resentful of this treatment and interprets the Burning Amber as another means of control. At one point, she tells Rosalyne that she does not deserve to watch her dance. Rosalyne leaves without defending herself, though Columbina later reveals that she secretly attended the performance anyway 155 163.

Welcoming Bai You

Odette first meets Bai You when Varesa brings her back to the theater. She identifies Bai You as a Water Nymph from her ears and resemblance to Varesa’s aura. After hearing that Bai You has nowhere to stay, Odette arranges for a cleared storage room to be cleaned and furnished with a folding bed 24.

The next morning, she notices that Varesa has departed from her usual routine and discovers her asleep beside Bai You in the storage room. Odette leaves them undisturbed and prepares breakfast for three. Although she feels an unfamiliar bitterness at their closeness, she continues looking after Bai You and later replaces Varesa’s bed with a double bed so the pair can sleep comfortably 32 33 34 38.

Columbina’s Stay and Dottore’s Attack

When Bai You returns with Columbina, Odette is initially shocked and treats the Third Harbinger with formal deference. Their relationship becomes less guarded after Columbina explains that she followed Bai You to the theater for bread, fruit, and companionship. Odette also learns that Bai You has become a Harbinger and asks Columbina to let Bai You reveal the news to Varesa herself 52 53 54 59 60.

During a rehearsal, Columbina detects that Bai You is in danger and sends Odette to Snezhnaya Palace to summon Capitano. After delivering the message, Odette returns to the theater on Capitano’s instructions and waits anxiously. When Varesa and Columbina bring Bai You home cold and no longer breathing, Odette nearly collapses 68 72.

Bai You’s awakening breaks Odette’s composure, bringing her to tears. She subsequently helps care for Bai You and reassures her that their performance can wait until she recovers 75 77.

Performances in Snezhnaya and Mondstadt

After rehearsing with Columbina’s guidance, Odette and Varesa give a theater performance that earns thunderous applause 85 107.

Odette initially declines Bai You’s invitation to Mondstadt because she wants to avoid Rosalyne, asking instead for aged apple cider. Her companions later persuade her to join them 111 121.

In Mondstadt, she helps prepare a surprise concert for Varesa. Under the pretense of rehearsing new choreography, she familiarizes Varesa with the selected music, then blindfolds her and guides her onto the stage. Odette joins the performance as its dancer; seeing a little girl clap along in the front row makes her smile and briefly disrupts her rhythm 130 131 133.

During the subsequent beach outing, Odette reads beneath an umbrella, distributes cold water, and supplies the group’s barbecue. Renewed Conflict with Rosalyne

After Rosalyne takes the Anemo Gnosis, Odette is troubled by her departure and apparent lack of acknowledgment. She decides to return to Snezhnaya and resumes intensive practice despite a weakened wrist 149 151 153.

Odette boards the Star Raft with Rosalyne, Columbina, and Sandrone, but neither she nor Rosalyne manages to begin the conversation both want. Later, Columbina reveals Rosalyne’s secret attendance at her performance and assures Odette that the Burning Amber was not intended to watch or hurt her. Odette’s resentment begins to loosen, though the two have not yet reconciled 162 163.
