Luke became a Super Soldier, took command of the Howling Commandos, and built an alliance with Sicilian Mafia families to seize a naval camp and prepare the Allied landing. After securing the camp and arranging protection for Marlena, Luke kissed her before his planned departure from Sicily.

• Luke saved Dr. Erskine from Hydra gunmen and helped Steve Rogers get recruited into the Super Soldier program.
• Luke and Steve received the serum, and Luke gained a Superman template as Steve transformed into a powerful soldier.
• Luke captured the assassin Gregg, then accepted command of the Howling Commandos and proved his strength to the team.
• Luke led the Commandos to Sicily, forced Cosa Alessandro to cooperate, and recruited Mafia gunmen for a plan to capture Mussolini.
• Luke spared Marlena after learning Alessandro had sent her to his room, then arranged protection for her and ordered the sheriff’s death made to look accidental.

Luke seized Rome, rose to prominence among the Allies, and joined Steve Rogers to rescue captured soldiers and confront Hydra. He stopped Red Skull’s Valkyrie attack and took the Tesseract, but its passage to the Nine Realms drew an unseen gaze toward him.

• Luke captured Mussolini in Rome, declared the city free of fascists, and earned promotion to brigadier general before returning to New York with the Howling Commandos and Alessandro’s Mafia men.
• Luke received the Medal of Honor, persuaded Steve Rogers to join his command, and gained the Superdemon template before setting out to rescue Bucky.
• Luke and Rogers infiltrated Hydra’s Klausburg base, freed Allied prisoners, and destroyed its defenses, but Bucky was missing and Red Skull escaped with the Tesseract.
• Luke returned with the rescued soldiers and captured Hydra weapons, then learned that Red Skull planned attacks on major cities using Valkyrie missiles.
• Luke and Rogers led a mission against Hydra’s headquarters, where Luke pursued Red Skull aboard the aircraft carrying the Valkyrie missiles.
• Luke defeated Red Skull, destroyed the missile detonator, and took the Tesseract as its power opened a passage to the Nine Realms and consumed Red Skull.
• Luke took the Tesseract aboard the plane and asked Dr. Zola to fly them back, sensing an unseen gaze turn toward him.

Luke led the Allied effort to counter the Aryan Supermen while Rogers endured Wardun’s Blood mutations and became a Battleship-class soldier. After defeating the three German Battleship-class fighters in Paris, Luke flew toward Berlin, leaving Rogers to report their victory.

• Luke rescued Stephanie from Julian, learned the limits of the Aryan Supermen, and brought her back to London with Wardun’s Blood and documents about the project.
• Churchill placed the Strategic Scientific Reserve under Luke’s command, and Luke recruited Rogers as a candidate for the Allied Superman project.
• Rogers endured the mutations and became a durable Battleship-class soldier while Dr. Zola worked to improve the Allies’ energy conversion process.
• Saint General prepared to use Paris as a trap for Luke, while Baron Strucker urged Hydra to seize Luke for the Far Star Project.
• Luke and Rogers landed in Paris with twenty-eight Allied Tank-class soldiers as the German battle groups prepared to defend the city.
• Luke defeated Sieglinde, destroyed the German bombers attacking Paris with an emerald Pegasus, and then faced Siegmund and Siegfried.
• Luke upgraded to the LV2 Magic Superman template, killed Siegfried, Sieglinde, and Siegmund, and shielded Rogers from Siegfried’s explosion.
• Luke sent Rogers to report the victory in Paris and flew toward Berlin.

After the war, Luke turned the Strategic Scientific Reserve into S.H.I.E.L.D., recruited key allies, and began organizing Mutants against emerging threats. The Hellfire Club drew Namor into its cause and prepared to confront Luke.

• Luke defeated the Third Reich’s last resistance, accepted Saint General’s Brude plans, and flew over Berlin as the war ended.
• Luke became a rear admiral and took charge of the newly renamed S.H.I.E.L.D., inviting Steve Rogers to join as the Cold War approached.
• Luke recruited Bolivar Trask, Howard Stark, Victor Creed, and William Stryker while expanding S.H.I.E.L.D.’s research and operations.
• The Ancient One questioned Luke about his intentions and asked him to help protect Earth after revealing that she had tested him in a 421-loop time spell.
• Luke brought Logan, Sabretooth, and other Mutants into S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Task Force Codename X to track the Hellfire Club.
• Sebastian Shaw persuaded Namor to join the Hellfire Club, then used news of captured Mutants to stir Namor’s anger against Luke.
• Namor called on the Hellfire Club to act and declared that he would face Superman to prove his strength.
