The so-called old float in the warehouse was reduced to a dusty wooden chassis.
Three of the four wheels could still turn, but the fourth was stuck by a rusty nail. The wooden post that was originally used for decoration in the center of the frame was broken in the middle, and a faded wooden sign remained in the corner, on which the word "fairy" could be barely made out.
Lin Yuan walked around the vehicle frame once. "There should only be three days left until the Harvest Festival performance, right?"
"To be precise, there are only two and a half days left." Mira pushed open the warehouse window. "Fix the wheels first."
The two towed the chassis to the guild's backyard. Lin Yuan removed the damaged planks, Mira went to the market to buy new nails, paint, and fabric. When she returned, the stuck wheels had started turning again, and the broken wooden post had been replaced with spare wood from the warehouse.
"Looks like the house purchase wasn't a waste of money." Mira put down the documents.
"It has nothing to do with buying a house."
"In the past, if I asked you to repair a chair, you would simply use space to clamp the broken ends together."
"You can sit like that."
"Release the True Magic and it will collapse."
Lin Yuan did not refute, and continued to nail the last piece of wood.
Mira chose two fabrics, deep red and silver-white, which hung down along both sides of the carriage frame, and fixed a Fairy Tail- shaped badge to the top of the central wooden pillar. She did not decorate the float too elaborately, leaving only space at the four corners to place True Magic lamps.
"Where's the performance?" Lin Yuan asked.
Mira took out a stack of palm-sized silver papers from the bag. The papers were coated with a small amount of luminescent powder, and would light up when a little magic was injected into them.
"I'll scatter these into the air, and you cut them."
"Cut it into what?"
Mira pointed to the guild emblem at the top of the frame. "Fairy Wings."
On her first attempt, Mira only managed to toss ten sheets of paper.
Lin Yuan drew the " Nameless," its blade slicing across the paper before it fell. Ten sheets of silver paper were simultaneously divided into forty identical pieces, the cuts as clean as if measured with a ruler.
Mira picked up one of the pieces. "What's this?"
"Quadrilateral."
I was referring to fairy wings.
"There are no fairy wings to refer to."
Mira pointed to the guild emblem.
Lin Yuan looked at it for a while. "That's a tail."
"Everyone knows."
For his second attempt, Mira first drew a simple outline on the paper. Lin Yuan didn't use a real spatial slash; he simply let a thin layer of spatial magic cover the blade and cut the paper along the outline.
Ten pairs of silver wings fell from the sky, perfectly aligned, yet all landed straight on the ground.
"That won't do," Mira said. "The performance will be over before the audience can even see it clearly."
She only Take Over the black wings on her back and gently flapped them. The silver paper that had fallen to the ground flew up again, but was blown everywhere by the first gust of wind. A few pieces flew over the courtyard wall and landed in the hall, one of which stuck right to Makarov's forehead.
Makarov walked to the window and peeled the silver paper off. "You can rehearse if you want, but don't let this stuff blow into the hall."
"It was just a small mistake," Mira said.
Suddenly, an explosion occurred on the other side. The dragon head that Natsu had made spewed out a ball of fire, burning through the ropes Gray was using to secure the ice sculpture. Half of the iceberg slid off the vehicle and rolled after the two of them through the backyard.
Makarov turned to deal with an even bigger mistake.
Lin Yuan picked up another piece of paper. "It's not that the wind is too strong, it's just that the paper was passing through different locations."
Mira immediately understood. She was responsible for ensuring that each batch of silver paper entered at the same height, while Lin Yuan, after cutting them open, used tiny spatial barriers to change their falling angle. The airflow created by the black wings no longer directly propelled all the paper pieces, but instead swept past each pair of wings in turn.
The third time, the silver paper did not fall to the ground after being cut by the sword.
Pairs of luminous wings unfolded along the airflow, circled twice above the vehicle frame, and then passed through several parallel spatial entrances. The silver specks of light flickered in and out of sight, like a group of tiny, winged sprites chasing each other in the air.
The last pair of wings flew towards the courtyard wall and landed right in Mira's hands.
"That's it," she said.
Lin Yuan put away " Nameless ": "With the increase in the number of paper pieces, the route needs to be recalculated."
"The formal performance has eight hundred tickets."
"You only took ten."
So, let's continue practicing.
The two stayed until dusk. The number of silver sheets in the backyard increased from ten to fifty, and then to two hundred. Lin Yuan was in charge of cutting and adjusting the entrance to the space, while Mira controlled the airflow, gradually forming the paper wings into a long silver ribbon that circled the float.
Several children near the guild were drawn by the light and watched from the courtyard wall for a long time. When the final rehearsal ended, they clapped loudly from behind the wall.
Lin Yuan looked at Mira: "We were seen beforehand."
"That doesn't count."
"When will that be settled?"
Mira collected the scattered paper wings back into her bag and looked up at the street, which was already decorated with festive lights.
"Wait for the Fantasia to begin."
She picked up the bag full of silver notes, her eyes reflecting the light that had just come on.
"We need to make sure everyone sees it."
