Confirming a Lv.1's Strength
The circular passage beneath the Tower of Babel leads all the way down into the earth.
Lin Yuan walked up the stairs to the end and entered the first level of the Dungeon.
Compared to the thirty-seventh floor, the paths here are much narrower, and the light blue walls emit a bright light. Lin Yuan's only plan today is to confirm whether the Falna will affect his original power.
When the first goblin rushed out from the fork in the road ahead, Nameless hadn't even fully drawn his sword.
Lin Yuan struck the goblin in the chest with his sword sheath. The goblin crashed into the wall, its neck breaking on the impact, and its body fell to the ground.
Following Eina's instructions, Lin Yuan cut open the goblin's chest and extracted the purple magic stone that served as its life core. After losing the magic stone, the corpse quickly turned into black ash.
The strength remained unchanged.
The second monster pounced from behind. Lin Yuan didn't turn around; he had already moved aside. He swept his sword sheath backward, severing the monster's neck bone.
Their fighting instincts remained unchanged.
Lin Yuan extracted the magic stone from the second monster's body. The corpse left on the ground immediately turned into black ash.
He continued following the map.
As they entered further passages, the number of monsters gradually increased. Lin Yuan tried Zero-Distance Crushing Fist, Space God's Folding Wings, and Boundary-Severing Blade, and all the True Magic were able to be activated normally.
The Falna did not enhance his magic, nor did it impose any new restrictions on the Space God Slayer Magic.
It simply records quietly from behind the scenes.
Lin Yuan returned to the ground on time, handed over the magic stone to the guild for exchange, and returned to the inn with Hestia was waiting in the square.
"First time updating ability values!" Hestia was even more excited than Lin Yuan.
A drop of divine blood fell behind him, and the hidden sacred characters resurfaced. All five basic abilities changed, but only a very small number of values increased.
Strength: I 1
Durability: I 0
Dexterity: I 2
Agile: I 1
Magic: I 2
[Campione] and [Space God Slayer Magic] remain unchanged.
"The monsters on the first floor are too weak," Hestia said. "Falna won't recalculate your past strength."
"As expected."
The next morning, Lin Yuan arrived at the closed training ground behind the guild.
This is not a mandatory test for new members. After registering, ordinary adventurers will only receive basic instructions and Dungeon information from the guild; no individual abilities will be measured individually.
But Lin Yuan was different. He appeared on the thirty-seventh floor without any Falna, and then returned to the surface alone from the depths. When he registered, he only received Falna Lv.1. Since the two contradictory records could not be included in the normal archives, the guild arranged this special assessment on the spot after the Loki Familia provided testimony.
Eina was in charge of taking notes, while Finn, Riveria, and Ais were present as witnesses for the Loki Familia.
The training grounds were set up with tests for strength, endurance, agility, dexterity, and True Magic. Several guild staff stood behind the scorer's table, Loki and Hestia also came to observe.
The strength test used a metal force-measuring pillar capable of withstanding attacks from advanced adventurers. Lin Yuan didn't use True Magic; he simply threw a punch forward.
The pointer instantly struck the highest mark. The entire force-measuring column was pulled up from its base, crossed the training field, and embedded itself in the stone wall opposite.
No one spoke from behind the scorer's table.
The metal hammer for the durability test was then raised to its highest setting. The multi-ton hammerhead fell along the track, and Lin Yuan raised one hand to catch the impact head-on. The stone slab beneath his feet cracked outwards, but his body did not stagger, and his palm was unharmed.
Agility and dexterity were tested simultaneously. Twenty magic stone lamps were randomly lit in different locations on the training ground, and the subjects were required to touch them in turn. The staff member in charge of timing had just started the device when Lin Yuan had already returned to his original position.
All twenty lamps went out at the same time.
Ais discerned Lin Yuan's movement trajectory as he folded the distance, but Finn noticed that he adjusted his landing position between each movement, without knocking over any obstacles along the way.
Finally, there was the True Magic test.
The staff erected three layers of protective barriers, the outermost layer even capable of withstanding a direct attack from the floor master of the middle floor. Lin Yuan drew Nameless, the black and silver Boundary-Severing Blade extending along its edge.
He only swung his sword once.
The three protective walls did not withstand the impact, nor did they develop cracks; instead, they split apart simultaneously from the center. The cross-section was so smooth that no trace of breakage could be seen.
The clerk stared down at the blank form, unsure which level to put any of the entries in.
Although Riveria had witnessed Lin Yuan's actions in the Dungeon, she was still staring at the cross-section of the three-layered protective barrier. Loki's smile also vanished for a moment, replaced by the primal disgust that came with divine instinct.
Hestia broke the silence first. "Now, no one should think he's just an ordinary Level 1 adventurer, right?"
Eina, holding her pen, was speechless.
Finn looked at the force-measuring pillar that had been punched into the wall. "This special assessment only proves one thing. The guild's existing testing limits cannot measure his limits."
These physical abilities were not bestowed by Falna. Lin Yuan grew up in the Fairy Tail world, where immense magical power nourished his body year-round, and training and missions adapted his body to combat. During the two years after entering SAO, he was unable to use True Magic, and he relied entirely on his physical body to practice swordsmanship, clear monsters, and even defeat bosses. That experience ultimately honed his current strength, speed, and reflexes.
Eina noted in Lin Yuan's file that registration level cannot be used as a basis for judging his strength. This statement is only used within the guild to identify abnormal situations and will not determine which level he should enter.
Lin Yuan has no immediate plans to return to the thirty-seventh floor. The spatial coordinates have been left at the initial landing location. Right now, the more important thing is to understand the Dungeon layer by layer from the surface down and figure out the relationship between this labyrinth and the gods.
He put away the Nameless and looked at the record that Eina had just completed.
Lin Yuan's guild registration still lists him as a Level 1 adventurer.
Starting today, an additional line of explanation will appear next to this level.
Strength cannot be determined based on the current level.
