"Call!"
The pale wings fanned a gale, and the rising lift propelled Norton toward the majestic Holy See in the distance.
His tattered flesh trembled incessantly in the howling wind, but because his rank had ceased to rise, his skin no longer suffered further decay, so that when he flew over, no skin flakes fell with his movements.
This effectively prevented Norton's flesh and blood from spilling out.
"There really is something within the Holy See!"
A pale monster soared through the sky, its eyes gleaming with longing.
Norton felt the pressure on his body, unsure whether it was from excitement or fear, but he felt a tingling sensation all over his body, like a slight electric shock.
There's something special about this Church!
He led his Gargoyle army to the Holy See, initially believing that the Abraham claim was merely an excuse to shirk responsibility, or that his Vampire bloodline was simply too low-grade.
However, to his surprise, when he flew to the Holy See, he actually felt a sense of oppression on a higher level of life even from a great distance.
Norton was finally experiencing what it felt like to be surrounded by Vampire, something he had never experienced before.
"Hiss..."
The fifty-odd Gargoyle, in their imposing manner, grew heavier and heavier as they flew, falling further and further behind. Their towering bodies, which were powerful enough to collapse city walls, were unable to even get close under the pressure of this level of life force. They were completely powerless to fight once they entered the interior of the Holy See City.
"Go back!" Norton looked at Coal Ball, who was sticking out his tongue and trying to follow him, and finally felt a little sorry for him.
It's like the heartache you feel when you see your own dog running alongside a car all the way and almost dying from exhaustion.
Who says Norton has no emotions? He's got plenty!
"Hiss..." Coal Ball couldn't understand Norton's words, but he knew their specific meaning.
Even knowing this, Coal Ball still wobbled along behind Norton, even trying to fly over and nuzzle his skin affectionately.
"Get lost!" Norton, his face dark, flew towards the Coal Ball and kicked it out of the Holy See.
Already feeling suffocated by the life force of the superior, the Coal Ball was further weakened by Norton's kick, losing its trajectory and hurtling out of the Holy See like a meteor in a parabolic arc.
"Hiss..." Seeing the miserable state of the Coal Ball, Plum Blossom quickly turned her head and led the Gargoyle team to fly towards the location where the Coal Ball had fallen, leaving Norton's pale body hanging high in the sky.
This is also why Norton's whereabouts were reported to Yalian III by the Holy See.
"Whoosh!" Huge, pale, fleshy wings flapped in the sky, and then Norton's pale body shot straight toward the Holy See Palace like a bat.
The oppressive atmosphere grew stronger as Norton approached, making Norton increasingly nervous.
"I never imagined that this so-called pressure from higher life levels would one day befall me... But this undoubtedly proves that there is indeed a being in the Holy See whose life level is higher than mine."
So it seems my guess about the Holy See's corpse was correct!
"Sigh, I wonder if it was worth coming here for the sake of advancing my life level and taking revenge on Yalian III... I could have survived indefinitely by hiding, so why did I choose to take such a dangerous step?"
Enough. As the saying goes, fortune favors the bold. I, Norton, have been hiding for so many years, and now that I am finally about to make progress, if I still shrink back, I will never have a moment of true freedom... In this world where gods exist, if I do not achieve so-called transcendence, I will one day be crushed to death by the gods at will!
Norton sighed deeply, feeling that he had become the kind of novel protagonist he used to hate the most: willing to do anything to advance and unable to see the beauty in the world besides being invincible.
Regardless, his pale, slender body resolutely flew towards the source of the oppressive feeling of life that he sensed.
Norton's pale body flew rapidly towards the back of the Holy See. His pale, strange, bat-like body was extremely conspicuous in the bright sun-filled sky, which made Yalian III, who rushed out of the palace, immediately recognize the pale monster in the sky.
"Damn it, stop him! The Holy Judgment Order, strike immediately and surround and kill the Blood Progenitor!"
The Church legions immediately surround the back mountain! Siege crossbows, catapults, take it down quickly!!!
Yalian III gazed at the pale Blood Progenitor flying towards him in the distance, he felt as if his very soul was about to leave his body.
Damn it, thirty years have passed, and your Blood Clan Progenitor has even grown wings? How can we defend against that? How can we target him? How is Yalian III supposed to hunt down this Pale Progenitor now?
Without Yalian III's command, Norton, sensed by the Holy Ones, was already completely locked onto by the six hundred Holy Knight of the Holy See.
"Puff!!!"
A sound like a steam engine rang out instantly, and wisps of white smoke billowed out from the golden armor of the Holy Knight like surging steam. Then, the more than six hundred Holy Knight guarding the corpse of the god in the back mountain of the Holy See seemed to come alive, and one after another they rushed out of the cave in the back mountain in a frenzy.
These High-Rank Holy Knight had transcended the form of most living beings. Their breathing rate was much lower than that of the Low-Rank Holy Knight that Norton had drowned earlier, and their minds seemed clearer. They even knew to throw their golden greatswords to harm Norton, who was flying in the sky.
These Holy Knight even spontaneously formed a formation and used the direction of their hurled greatswords to block Norton's escape route in the sky.
One after another, Holy Knight, clad in golden armor, raised their arms high, their bodies bent like bows, and with a powerful thrust of their waists, hurled their greatswords.
"Chirp!"
With the sound of golden swords piercing the air, countless golden swords rained down like arrows, blocking out the entire sky and shooting densely at the pale Blood Progenitor flying in the air.
