|---|---|---|
| Approximately First-Duan Martial Artist | 23 | His physical abilities are around this level, but a profound movement technique already makes him exceptionally difficult to hit. |
| Fifth Stage Martial Artist | 25 | Reached after three years in Chen Village. His rare Sword Dao gives his attacks enough power that Chen Mu avoids meeting them directly. |
| Peak Qi Nourishing Realm | 92 105 | His Sword Qi rivals a True Spirit Realm cultivator’s might. His exceptionally solid foundation makes him substantially stronger than Chen Mu in martial cultivation alone. |
| Early True Spirit Realm | 108 109 | Demonstrates Sword Control Technique against Yin Zhan—an understanding of Sword Dao that most sword cultivators attain only at Core Formation. |
| Justice True Heart Sword awakening | 135 136 | Resolves his doubts about righteousness and revenge. A giant sword phantom manifests, shattering the Dragon-Locking Formation and releasing a river of sword light. |

| Saint Level | 512 | His breakthrough raises the Demon-Slaying Legion’s attack power from a Mid Saint Level equivalent to Late Saint Level. |
| Mid Saint Level | 611 | Uses World Crystals supplied by Chen Hongjie to advance rapidly without destabilizing his foundation. |
| Borrowed Divine Power | 635 636 | After absorbing the Seed of Destruction, draws Divine Power from the Great Dao of Destruction before becoming a god. |
| Void God Realm; Sword Dao at great accomplishment | 694 695 | Combines his East Sea inheritance with over a hundred years of Sword Dao insights. Becomes a god who has mastered the Great Dao of Destruction and wounds Divine General Yeyue’s divine source. |
| True God Realm | 733 | Creates his own plane after comprehending his third Great Dao. Delays the breakthrough to maximize the plane’s growth potential, supported by a World Seed and the Chen Kingdom’s resources. |
Background / History
Childhood and enslavement
Born Meng Wu, A Huo was the son of Qi Xiaoping and Meng Hongyun, chief of the Qi Mountain Tribe. Although many tribespeople knew his parentage, his father neglected him. Qi Xiaoping supported them by sewing hides and eventually died from overwork. A Huo later carried an unmarked stone tablet to her grave when he was eight 135 136.
After he talked back to Meng Hongyun’s jealous wife, Liu Ruyan, she severely injured and imprisoned him. He escaped and found shelter in another tribe, only for mounted bandits to slaughter its inhabitants. Enslaved and repeatedly sold, he eventually reached the Red Wolf Tribe. His profound Sword Dao inheritance allowed him to break the seal inside his body and escape 135.
Life in Chen Village
Chen Mu’s group rescued him on Fire Forging Mountain. Because he would not reveal his name, Chen Shanxiong named him A Huo after the mountain. He agreed to accompany them to Chen Village but refused formal membership, accepting residence only when told he would have to work. He chose to live with Chen Mu rather than Chen Shanxiong 23.
Once he began speaking, A Huo offered his former tribe’s basic cultivation technique in exchange for an enhanced longsword. The villagers subsequently accepted him as one of their own despite his refusal to take the surname Chen 24.
Over the following three years, he devoted himself to cultivation and formed a life-and-death brotherhood with Chen Mu. Both retained personal secrets without allowing them to undermine their trust 25 29.
Revenge and reconciliation with his past
Cao Lingxiao warned that hostility in A Huo’s heart prevented him from perfecting the Justice True Heart Sword. A Huo returned alone to the Qi Mountain Tribe, revealed himself as Meng Wu, and confronted Meng Hongyun and Liu Ruyan 134 135.
During their battle, he rejected the idea that punishing the wicked necessarily contradicted righteousness. His awakened sword heart broke the Dragon-Locking Formation. He killed Liu Ruyan, punished his former abusers, crippled his father’s dantian, and forced him to kneel overnight at Qi Xiaoping’s grave 135 136.
Chen Mu, Chen Duo, and Mingye arrived the next morning and paid their respects. At Chen Mu’s suggestion, A Huo took his mother’s ashes to Chen Village. After a farewell meal, he announced that he would travel with his master for several years to temper his sword heart 136.
Appearance
- As a young swordsman: Wears white cloth robes with a longsword at his waist, giving him the bearing of a graceful youth 134.
- After four years of warfare: Retains his white clothing, but his features become resolute and steadfast, with deep, composed eyes. His arrival on a flying sword is likened to that of a sword immortal 240.
- Around Chen Duo: His otherwise imposing battlefield demeanor softens into conspicuous gentleness 240.
Personality
A Huo is initially silent, guarded, and especially wary of adults. He instinctively seeks Chen Mu’s company and shows a rare smile when offered a place in his home. Even years later, he relaxes most readily around Chen Mu and Chen Duo 23 704.
He is intensely disciplined, spending nearly every spare moment practicing swordsmanship. His early indifference toward most matters contrasts with his devotion to the Chen siblings. A hundred years of secluded cultivation does not shake his resolve; his urgency comes from wanting to protect those around him 25 54 134 687.
In battle, he is aggressive and willing to exchange injuries for kills. This recklessness repeatedly worries Chen Duo. His understanding of justice centers on confronting cruelty and betrayal, opposing injustice, and protecting the people he loves 136 176 241.
Abilities & Skills
Justice True Heart Sword
A core inheritance of the Sword-Questioning Sect, taught to A Huo by Ling Feng. It places unusually demanding requirements on character; Wei Shan states that no disciple of the sect had mastered it in nearly a thousand years 375.
- Sword-heart requirement: A Huo cannot reveal its true strength until he resolves the emotional burden surrounding his mother and childhood 134 375.
- Sword phantom and sword-light torrent: Manifests a giant longsword phantom that becomes countless rays of sword light, breaking formations and pursuing multiple enemies 136.
- Righteous True Heart Thrust: Meets and deflects Jiang Ji’s Setting Sun Divine Arrow 241.
- Heart-Guarding Sword Resonance: Produces a tranquil resonance that reaches into the soul, briefly leaving Chen Mu and Wei Shuang unfocused; Wei Shan remains unaffected 375.
Sword Control and Unity of Man and Sword
A Huo’s understanding of Sword Dao repeatedly exceeds what his cultivation realm would ordinarily suggest 25 109 249.
- Sword Control Technique: Directs a flying sword with Qi and hand seals. At Early True Spirit Realm, he uses it to pin Yin Zhan down after being disarmed 109.
- Sword-assisted flight: Before Core Formation, channels his sword intent through his longsword to influence surrounding Spiritual Power and maneuver in the air 241.
- Unity of Man and Sword: Raises his combat power by an entire level and makes his sword-finger attacks dangerous enough that Chen Mu abandons barehanded defense 249.
- Resistance through sword intent: Blocks the weakening, slowing, corrosion, and other negative rune effects of Chen Mu’s Dharma-Breaking Staff 249.
- Edge Strike: Breaks through two Rashomon gates during the battle against Xilade 418.
Wukong Sword Art
Obtains the Wukong Sword Sect’s inheritance beneath the East Sea and wins recognition from Patriarch Wukong’s artifact spirit 694.
- Spatial movement: Crosses dozens of li in a single step while returning to the Chen Kingdom 694.
- Concentrated breakthrough strike: Holds his sword for half a month while gathering his accumulated insights, then releases a strike that wounds Divine General Yeyue’s divine source 694 695.
- Buddhist connection: Chen Mu identifies the Wukong Sword Art’s ties to Buddhism when selecting A Huo for the mission to the True Esoteric Buddhist Sect 704.
Great Dao and Divine Power
Begins using Divine Power through the Seed of Destruction, later becoming a god who has mastered the Great Dao of Destruction 636 695.
- Seed of Destruction: Contains the embryonic Great Dao and lets him borrow its power before fully mastering it 636.
- Asura Sword: Engulfs himself and the Demon-Slaying Sword in black flames before attacking Divine Lord Cangmu 635.
- Combat strength: After entering Void God Realm, the Great Dao of Destruction gives him battle strength no weaker than an ordinary Late Void God Realm expert 695.
- Additional comprehension: The Supreme Living Buddha senses his Great Dao of Slaughter. By his True God breakthrough, A Huo has comprehended three Great Dao; the third is not named in the supplied passages 704 733.
Movement and Enhanced Physique
- Early evasive skill: Dodges exceptionally well even when his physical strength is only around First-Duan Martial Artist level 23.
- Thousand Swords Transform into Shadows: Creates dozens of indistinguishable figures to obscure his real body. Chen Duo’s lasers can destroy the phantoms 328.
- Genetic enhancements: Has undergone multiple enhancements, though Chen Duo’s high-density energy blades remain capable of piercing him 328.
- Teng Snake cells: When he is injured, his altered blood boils over, allowing him to unleash his strongest state 749.
Legion Command
Commands the Demon-Slaying Sword and directs its combined power through the Demon-Slaying Battle Formation 211 635.
- Combined attacks: Concentrates the legion’s power at the tip of its sword gleam 635.
- Protection of dependents: Establishes three encampments for members’ relatives, each sheltering several thousand people 211.
- Deployment discipline: Avoids mixing untrained Heaven-Questioning Pavilion disciples into legion warfare, instead assigning them gate defense and supporting duties 357.
- Power limit: Combined Spiritual Power from three thousand soldiers cannot by itself harm Divine Lord Cangmu, whose Divine Power is qualitatively superior 635.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Original longsword / True Heart Sword: Originally barely a fourth-grade magical treasure. Years of constant nurturing give it spiritual awareness and power beyond its materials. Chen Mu later reforges it using the Rune Research Institute’s latest techniques 241 288.
- Demon-Breaking Sword: Created by fusing his old sword with his internal world power. Its sword spirit shares his thoughts. It can enlarge to nearly a hundred meters, but doing so consumes substantial world power 357.
- Divine Blood Scarlet Gold: Supplied by Chen Mu and smelted into his sword, raising its power to that of an ordinary divine weapon 613.
- Spirit Particle binding sword: A technological weapon stored in his armguard; he puts it away when summoning the Demon-Breaking Sword against the demon emperors 357.
- Wukong Divine Sword: Obtained from the East Sea inheritance site with the recognition of Patriarch Wukong’s artifact spirit 694.
- Communication equipment: Uses a communication device to assemble his legion and the Spirit Network to coordinate with Chen Mu 328 548.
- Spirit Magnetic base station: Enables Chen Mu’s escape from pursuing Divine Lords; self-destructs after Divine Lord Hundred Battles finds it 625.
