Chen Mu learned talisman cultivation, returned to Chen Village with Duoduo, and used his runes to strengthen the village and help it survive invasions. After developing better farming and martial techniques, he brought A Huo into the village, and the story left off as Chen Mu and A Huo prepared for a meeting about wiping out the Black Water Tribe.
Chen Mu strengthened Chen Village with talisman technology, trade, and a new defensive fortress while uncovering the threat posed by Tuoba Ziying. After advancing his cultivation and learning about the Chen Clan’s past, he left with A Huo and Chen Duo to study at the Heaven-Questioning Pavilion.
Chen Mu gathered companions and allies on the road to Heaven-Questioning Pavilion, then used his talismans and Flying Thunder God Array to survive its brutal entrance competition. He won first place and entered the pavilion as a new disciple, where An Ruhai began teaching him about the realms of the soul.
Chen Mu became Elder Ming’s personal disciple, built a successful business producing illusion discs, and broke through to a solid divine soul. On a border mission, he and his companions uncovered signs of a demon spy and learned that Absolute Sword City was preparing to face a much larger attack.
Chen Mu led the Sword Guardian Battalion in a series of battles that helped save Absolute Sword City, but the Sixth Prince tried to seize his rune weapons afterward. Back at Heaven-Questioning Pavilion, Chen Mu learned new fate and time techniques and gathered with his battalion at the Mission Hall.
Chen Mu returned to Chen Village, prepared it for expansion, and later entered the Flame Blessing Tribe in disguise to search for his parents. He joined the Gu Lineage’s household and modified Gu Zi'an’s meridians ahead of the tribal competition, while Mingye and Chen Duo arrived at the Heaven-Questioning Pavilion’s inner pavilion.
Chen Mu rescued his mother and father, then returned to Chen Village and prepared it for the Flame Blessing Tribe’s assault. After Chen Village won a costly battle, Chen Mu advanced his Runic Body research and completed the basic Five Elements Battle Formation model, while Chen Duo and Mingye remained in hiding.
Chen Mu rescued Mingye and Chen Duo from the Heaven-Questioning Pavilion, then returned to Chen Village and built it into a growing force powered by rune research and new weapons. After Chen Village defeated the Jianglan army, Xing Le confronted Chen Mu over the heavenly rules and agreed to judge the village’s puppet talisman artifacts.
Chen Mu acquired the Water of Supreme Yin, helped Chen Village prepare for war, and searched the Ancient Desolate Mining Area after Jiang Ji separated him from Mingye. He reunited with Mingye among the mining area’s hidden settlements, but his attempts to escape stalled as a colossal beast appeared to roam the mist.
Chen Mu broke through to the Core Formation Realm, defeated Wang Yu, and helped Chen Village seize the Jianglan Tribe’s territory. After returning, he expanded the Rune Research Institute and prepared to travel with Zheng Fengdao to Yin Zhan’s Lineage.
Chen Mu rescued Guo Xiaohan’s family from the Holy Light Sect, then helped Yin Zhan’s family escape the Ma Lineage and brought the Yin Lineage toward the Wilderness. The Temple accused the Demon-Slaying Sword of harming the Wilderness and threatened Chen Village with a beast tide, leaving Chen Mu to prepare for a looming confrontation.
Chen Village defeated the Temple’s forces and subdued the tribes in its newly granted territory, then used six years of growth and technological advances to become a kingdom. The founding ceremony left Chen Mu face to face with two women who had once helped save Chen Village, though they did not recognize him.
Chen Mu prepared the Chen Kingdom for war and used the T1 Virus to cripple the Otherworldly Demons attacking Suspended Sword Pass. He then went to the battered Heaven-Questioning Pavilion, where Elder Ming invited him into the Mystic Spirit Grotto-Heaven.
Chen Mu reached the Creation Realm, dealt with He Xiao, and prepared the Chen Kingdom for war against the Otherworldly Demons. He explored the Tomb of the Gods with Fan Jing, recovered Fan Jing’s sarira, and returned with intelligence about the Heavenly Court and the Abyss Devil Race.
Chen Mu led the Chen Kingdom's campaign against the Otherworldly Demons, captured Moon Capital Pass, and secured Yi Province through an alliance with Wei Shuang. After consolidating his gains and creating Taichu, he visited the Sword-Questioning Sect with A Huo and learned about A Huo's master and Wei Shan's lost cultivation.
Chen Mu crushed the Heavenly Puppet Sect’s ambush and strengthened the Chen Kingdom’s defenses as the Black Demon Emperor’s army advanced. After Military Base No. 1 self-destructed and the Chen Kingdom won a costly battle, Chen Mu prepared for the coming full-scale attack and considered capturing the remaining Devil Race generals.
Chen Mu drove back the Devil Race and repelled a Jing Province invasion while the Chen Kingdom expanded its territory. With the kingdom’s defenses and leadership arranged, he prepared to travel to the Netherworld with Mingye and pursue marriage after their return.
Chen Mu and Mingye entered the Netherworld, escaped its hunters, and built Iron Soul City into a growing settlement by defeating an undead tide and supplying weapons. They reached Nine Yama City to pursue allies, Yin Stones, and clues to Mingye’s origins, while the Yin Baleful Intent Sect continued searching for them.
Chen Mu restored Iron Soul City, survived Chu Xuanzi’s attack, and helped reunite Mingye with the Manju Sacred King. As the war against the Extreme Evil Imperial Court escalated, Chen Mu took command of an army while Mingye prepared to claim her place in the Netherworld.
Chen Mu helped the Manju Imperial Court survive attacks by the Supreme Evil and Asura Sacred Kings, then used food production and military campaigns to strengthen it. After Ren Changsheng captured Chen Mu in a blood formation, Chen Mu broke through to Saint Level and pulled the fallen Yin Five Elements Legion into his inner world, where they regained bodies.
