The Unforgiven from Shinigami

The sound of the wind chimes at the door was Jūshirō Ukitake's coughing. He had a hot towel on his forehead with his right hand and his mouth covered with his left.

A faint glimpse of crimson could be seen on the pale fingertips.

Shiraishi made a Steel Tempest and disappeared outside, following the Reiatsu to a corridor.

A petite girl with short blonde hair walked by, carrying documents. She blinked her large gray eyes and asked, "You are...?"

" Ukitake coughed up blood."

Shiraishi stated his purpose directly.

Kiyone Kotetsu tossed the documents aside and Shunpo returned to Ugendo. Lifting the bamboo curtain, she saw Jūshirō Ukitake coughing incessantly. " Captain Ukitake, please lie down."

She called out anxiously and Kaidō to help suppress the illness.

The coughing gradually subsided. Jūshirō Ukitake, his forehead covered in a cold sweat, wiped his face with a hot towel, a look of apology appearing on his pale cheeks. "I've troubled you again, Kiyone."

"Lie down first."

Kiyone Kotetsu wanted to scold him, but looking at Jūshirō Ukitake's expression, she couldn't bring herself to say anything and could only tell him to lie down first.

"It's nothing, I was just too excited. I'm fine now."

Jūshirō Ukitake straightened his back, coughed up another mouthful of blood, calmly wiped it away, and laughed, "That's exactly what they mean by 'a happy occasion makes one feel refreshed'."

"Stop your cough first."

Shiraishi returned, clutching the documents Kiyone had left behind. "I don't want you to lose any members due to non-combat situations."

"Haha, I know."

Jūshirō Ukitake smiled.

Kiyone Kotetsu asked with some confusion, " Captain Ukitake, what's making you two happy?"

" Kiyone, Shiraishi is finally going to take my place as the captain of the Thirteenth Division."

Shiraishi corrected, "I'm the acting captain."

Jūshirō Ukitake laughed and said, "Yes, you're the acting captain. Now I can finally rest at the General Infirmary without worry."

Kiyone Kotetsu swallowed the words of dissuasion she had intended to say. She had to admit that there was no one in the entire Seireitei more skilled Kaidō healing than Captain Unohana.

Captain Ukitake is definitely better off recuperating there than at Ugendo.

Kiyone Kotetsu felt a pang of reluctance, but couldn't bring herself to say it. Fighting back tears, she bowed deeply, raised her head, and smiled, saying, "That's wonderful, Captain Ukitake."

"Yes, thank you for taking care of me all this time. I'll come back to visit you when I feel better."

Jūshirō Ukitake reached out and patted her head, his face full of tenderness.

Kiyone Kotetsu took a deep breath, bowed her head, and said, "It's our honor to take care of Captain Ukitake. It's no trouble at all. I have official business to attend to, so I'll take my leave now. Goodbye."

As she spoke, she snatched the documents from Shiraishi and ran outside; she couldn't cry in front of the captain.

This is a good thing.

Shiraishi watched her retreating figure and said, "You really are cruel."

"There's no other way; we'll have to part ways sooner or later. Let's say goodbye before we can."

The gentleness on Jūshirō Ukitake's face vanished, replaced by determination. He was prepared to give his life in the impending war to protect the Seireitei.

Shiraishi shrugged and said, "You rest first, I'm going to buy a cat."

Jūshirō Ukitake smiled and said, "Yes, after you're done shopping, go to the Shin'ō District. I need to personally explain the situation to Master Genryūsai."

"Good."

Shiraishi made a Steel Tempest and left.

Jūshirō Ukitake then took out paper and pen and began writing his resignation letter and recommending Tōshirō Hitsugaya to succeed him as the Tenth Division. Finally, he appointed Shiraishi as the acting captain of the Thirteenth Division.

These all need to be written into documents, submitted, and processed through procedures, and then stamped by the Central 46 Chambers.

His handwriting is elegant and has a somewhat ethereal feel.

For hundreds of years, in his spare time, he would pick up his pen and write his novel Pisces's Refusal. Every piece was handwritten, which is why he developed such good handwriting.

After finishing writing the three documents, Jūshirō Ukitake picked them up, Shunpo to leave the room, and headed straight for the First Division barracks, to the side hall where the Captain-Commander was located.

"Teacher Genryūsai, I'm coming in."

Jūshirō Ukitake shouted, pushed open the door, and besides Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto, there was another person standing inside.

The number on the back of the haori is twelve.

" Captain-Commander Yamamoto, that's the situation. Please consider it carefully. I'll go now."

Mayuri Kurotsuchi Jūshirō Ukitake, his eyes were filled with fervor, as if he wanted to write "I want to dissect you" on his face.

Jūshirō Ukitake showed no disgust, but smiled slightly. He firmly believed that everyone could be saved through education, including that Tsunayashiro Tokinada.

He was one of the few captains who didn't dislike Mayuri Kurotsuchi.

This is something that Mayuri Kurotsuchi really dislikes.

However, personal emotions do not diminish Mayuri Kurotsuchi in dissecting him.

Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto stared at the report in his hand, not even looking up, and asked, "How are you feeling today?"

"Still the same as always."

Jūshirō Ukitake respectfully replied, "Master Genryūsai, I wish to resign from my position in the Thirteenth Division and appoint Shiraishi as the acting captain of the Thirteenth Division."

"For the Tenth Division, Tōshirō Hitsugaya will be in charge; this is also Shiraishi's intention."

Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto looked up and asked, " Ukitake, are you Shin'uchi resign from your captaincy?"

"Teacher Genryūsai."

Jūshirō Ukitake spoke gently but firmly, saying, "My body no longer allows me to continue to concern myself with the affairs of the Thirteenth Division."

The First Evolution

But you know my personality; as long as I'm in the captain's position, I'm bound to worry.

Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto remained silent.

"The situation in the World of the Living is terrible, isn't it? The current Thirteenth Division, with me at the center, is simply not enough to deal with the Hollows sent by Aizen."

Jūshirō Ukitake continued, "Only by appointing Shiraishi as the acting captain of the Thirteenth Division can we prevent the massive casualties among humans with his strength."

Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto sighed and said, "I understand. I will approve your resignation. The inspection of Tōshirō Hitsugaya will be scheduled for tomorrow."

"If it's Shiraishi, let him take over your position immediately."

"Well, Professor Genryūsai, I'll transfer to the General Infirmary and serve as a consultant."

As he mentioned his next destination, Jūshirō Ukitake smiled and said, "I have quite a bit of knowledge about healing sorcerers, and I can teach others."

"Perhaps it's because you're experienced in receiving treatment."

Shiraishi grumbled, "The person just appeared in the side hall without any prior notice, and the cat perched on my head meowed."

I originally intended to give it to Nemu Kurotsuchi, but was told that I didn't have time to take care of the white cat, so I could only entrust it to him for temporary storage.

"Hehe, we do that too."

Jūshirō Ukitake answered with a smile.

Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto, speaking of serious matters, said, " Aizen is not the type to do useless work. From the Hollows captured by the Research and Development Institute, we learned that there are some kind of unidentified threads that extend outwards, which may be able to gather intelligence."

What is he looking for? Regarding this matter, Shiraishi, you are in charge of the Thirteenth Division and have full authority to handle it.

This is a preliminary battle; we must fight it well.
