The Unforgiven from Shinigami
The appointment of a deputy captain requires one month's notice, followed by a one-month evaluation period before an appointment ceremony can be held and the deputy captain's shoulder insignia officially awarded.

This is the normal procedure.
The situation is urgent. The Thirteenth Division must head to the World of the Living tomorrow to suppress the Hollows along with the Modified Soul, in order to prevent large-scale human casualties.
There's no time for those rituals at Seireitei.
Jūshirō Ukitake personally carried the letter of appointment from Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto and rushed to the 11th Division Shunpo.
The Reiatsu here is chaotic.
The 11th Division's kendo training is nothing short of real combat; injuries and coughing up blood are common occurrences.
He went to the outside of the kendo training ground, opened the sliding door, and was greeted by the stench of sweat left by men who had shed their blood and the roars of wild beasts.
"Go to hell!" "You bastard!" "I'll smash your golden egg!" "Hahaha!"
Jūshirō Ukitake felt a pang of envy; he hadn't sweated like that in a long time. He called out, "Excuse me, who is Renji Abarai?"
Bang.
Renji Abarai blocked the Seventh Seat's attack, turned his head to look around, and seemed to hear someone calling his name.
Is Abarai- kun there?
Jūshirō Ukitake shouted again.
Renji Abarai heard him clearly, dodged the Seventh Seat's sneak attack by sidestepping, and slashed his sword across the Seventh Seat's forehead with a backhand strike. He Renji Abarai. What do you want with me?"
Looking at the haori the other person was wearing, Renji Abarai recognized him as the captain, but he didn't know which one exactly.
Aside from the Fifth Division Aizen and the 6th Division Byakuya Kuchiki, and his own captain Captain Zaraki, Renji Abarai basically didn't recognize the other captains.
"I am Jūshirō Ukitake, the former captain of the Thirteenth Division. I'd like to ask if you'd be interested in becoming the vice-captain of the Thirteenth Division?"
"Huh!? This... no, I'm the vice-captain?"
Renji Abarai indifferent expression suddenly turned to shock, and he began to speak haltingly.
Vice Captain!
That was a position he had looked up to and even thought he could never reach in his lifetime when he was at the Shin'ō Academy.
It suddenly crashed down.
This huge surprise left Renji Abarai completely bewildered, unsure how to respond.
Seeing his expression, Jūshirō Ukitake breathed a sigh of relief and nodded, saying, "That's right. The newly appointed acting captain of the Thirteenth Division values your strength and wants you to take over as vice-captain. This is the letter of appointment."
If you're willing, pack your things immediately and report to the Thirteenth Division.
Renji Abarai snapped out of his shock, took the letter of appointment, and opened it to find the First Division's seal.
But he still couldn't quite believe it. "I've never heard of such a rudimentary appointment for a vice-captain. You're not someone who hired you to play a trick on me, are you?"
Izuru Kira and Momo Hinamori were appointed vice-captains a month in advance, so why was his appointment so hastily decided?
This guy looks sickly, is he really the captain?
Renji Abarai's eyes revealed deep confusion.
Jūshirō Ukitake explained, "Time is of the essence. The Thirteenth Division must head to the World of the Living tomorrow to deal with the Hollows that Aizen has sent World of the Living."
At this time, the sooner the vice-captain takes office, the better.
Upon hearing Renji Abarai, remembering that Rukia was in the Thirteenth Division, immediately put away his letter of appointment and said seriously, "Then let's go."
"Your stuff."
"No need, there's nothing valuable in it anyway."
Renji Abarai couldn't wait to see Rukia and brag to her about being the vice-captain.
As the vice-captain, it shouldn't be a problem for me to strike up a conversation with Rukia.
"Okay." Jūshirō Ukitake nodded and turned to leave.
Renji Abarai turned around and called out, " Arakawa, remember to tell Ikkaku- san that I want to be the lieutenant of the Thirteenth Division!"
After saying that, he closed the door and ran away before the group could react.
From the 11th Division to the Thirteenth Division, Renji Abarai grew increasingly excited; he was truly going to become the vice-captain of the Thirteenth Division.
How should I greet Rukia?
Renji Abarai kept imagining Rukia's various reactions in his mind until he reached the outside of the Thirteenth Division's base.
His excited heart suddenly calmed down, his expression became composed, and he stepped into the gate of the Thirteenth Division.
The soldiers they encountered along the way greeted Jūshirō Ukitake, and some were in tears.
Jūshirō Ukitake comforted them, and after walking and stopping for about half an hour, they finally reached the lake.
Renji Abarai spotted the girl squatting on the bridge feeding the koi fish.
Sunlight caressed her hair, leaving a ripple of color that flowed gently behind her, as if she were draped in the sun's coat, drawing attention to whatever she did.
" Rukia," Jūshirō Ukitake called out.
Rukia turned her head, and the purple twin children seemed to shoot out streaks of lightning.
Renji Abarai's heart suddenly raced, his hands clenched tightly behind his back, and he shouted in his heart, "Calm down, calm down!"
Captain Ukitake, how are you feeling?
Rukia rushed over, her face full of concern as she asked.
Jūshirō Ukitake smiled and said, "It's nothing. I feel particularly good today, and I'm perfectly fine even going outside for a walk in the wind."
Rukia and said, "It's so good that you're alright."
"Yo, Rukia, long time no see."
Renji Abarai raised his hand in greeting, puffed out his chest, and said, "I'm now the lieutenant of the Thirteenth Division."
Rukia tilted her head, looking like she'd just just noticed someone. "Well, so what? Vice-Captain."
Renji Abarai said with a forced smile, "You seem to have some kind of problem with me being the vice-captain?"
"How could I dare? After so many years since graduation, you've finally made it to the vice-captain position. I'm too busy flattering you to even think about it."
Rukia straightened her head and said sarcastically, "Good luck, Vice-Captain! You're really strong, Vice-Captain. Your eyebrows are really unique, Vice-Captain."
The last sentence touched Renji Abarai. He had impulsively gotten his eyebrows tattooed, expecting them to be popular, but instead, he was met with ridicule.
A bunch of guys who don't understand art!
" Rukia! Draw your sword!"
Renji Abarai flew into a rage, forgetting that this was the Thirteenth Division, not the 11th Division.
Jūshirō Ukitake reached out and placed his hand on the hilt of his sword, a gentle smile on his face. "So you two know each other. That's wonderful. We should look after each other from now on."
"Yes, Captain Ukitake."
Rukia bowed, her expression full of respect.
Renji Abarai's lips twitched. Why did they call Captain Ukitake"? Did they mean he was the vice-captain?
How infuriating!
He also wanted Rukia to respectfully address him as Lieutenant Abarai.
Rukia caught a glimpse of his jealous gaze, snorted, and turned her head away.
Renji Abarai gritted his teeth in anger.
Jūshirō Ukitake chuckled and smoothed things over, saying, "Alright, let's not keep Captain Shiraishi waiting too long, let's go in quickly, Lieutenant Abarai."
This form of address made Renji Abarai feel much better. "Mm."
