Ch. 5The Death of Kaien

  • The female Soul Reaper brought Kaien’s corpse to the Shiba estate and said she had killed him, while Kūkaku Shiba ordered her to leave.

  • Kūkaku and Shiraishi prepared the cannon for the ceremony by tying on a shimenawa and painting the Shiba Clan crest.
  • Jūshirō Ukitake arrived, and Kūkaku greeted him with intense killing intent.

Ch. 7Which Matters More, Dignity or Life?

Jūshirō Ukitake told Kūkaku Shiba how Kaien died after a Hollow fused with him, while Kaien’s spirit body rapidly dissolved into Reishi. As Kūkaku grieved beside the ruined coffin, Shiraishi sensed an attacker behind him and drew his sword.

  • Shiraishi wondered whether Aizen’s presence was connected to Kaien Shiba, but Kūkaku demanded that he tell her what he knew or leave her home.

  • Rin Tsubokura tracked a Hollow's Garganta to a mountain near Stone Village and struggled to send the warning because cracker crumbs jammed his keyboard.
  • Yachiru Kusajishi cleared the keyboard, and Rin sent the Hollow's location to the Soul Reaper responsible for the area.
  • Yachiru noticed that a silver-haired man had killed the Hollow, and Rin identified him as Shiraishi, wanted by the Second Division for killing Hasegawa Taizo.
  • Rin tried to notify the Second Division, but Yachiru restrained him with her spiritual pressure and said the 11th Division would take the murderer.
  • Yachiru left for the 11th Division barracks, planning to let Ken-chan fight Shiraishi.

Ch. 11Odd Jobs Shop

  • Shiraishi visited the Odd Jobs Shop and asked Ichirō Yagyū to find him a quiet place where Hollows appeared often.
  • Shiraishi told Ichirō Yagyū that he had killed Hasegawa Taizo, and Ichirō offered him a place in West District Ten for five thousand kan.

  • Shiraishi agreed to retrieve Kenji’s Denreishinki and vanished from the hall.

Ch. 14Daring to Steal My Kill?

Shiraishi killed another small Hollow and headed toward a reported Hollow attack, hoping to earn enough experience and money. When a Gillian appeared, someone far away killed it before Shiraishi could strike, and he set out to find the culprit.

  • Shiraishi checked his status and found that he needed 220 more experience to reach the next level, while deciding against entering Hueco Mundo because returning and finding food would be too risky.
  • Shiraishi returned to Rice Village to look for odd jobs and received a Denreishinki alert about a Hollow eighteen li south of Bamboo Village.
  • Shiraishi raced to the coordinates and saw a Gillian-class Menos Grande emerge through cracks in the sky.
  • An unseen attacker killed the Gillian from more than three kilometers away, and Shiraishi headed toward the nearby mountain to identify who had stolen his kill.

Ch. 15Unohana? Oh, Never Mind Then

Shiraishi met Retsu Unohana at a mountain hot spring, recognized her fearsome identity, and pretended to be a wandering ronin. When Isane Kotetsu arrived, he proposed to her and then suggested he wanted to marry both women, leaving Isane stunned and Unohana threatening.

  • Shiraishi said his Zanpakuto was named Infinity and concealed his Reiatsu, then told Unohana he was being hunted over Hasegawa Taizo's death.
  • Unohana invited Shiraishi to accompany her to West District Twenty-Six to find Dragon Lantern Fungus.
  • Shiraishi learned that Unohana's source was a knowledgeable man with glasses and reacted with alarm.

Ch. 17Aizen's Scheme

Shiraishi grew suspicious that Aizen was behind the Gillian's appearance and agreed to accompany Retsu Unohana to West District Twenty-Six. In Hueco Mundo, Aizen sent Nnoitra and Tesla to Soul Society to test Shiraishi, while advancing his Hollowfication experiment in the World of the Living.

  • Shiraishi suspected Aizen had arranged events around the Gillian and agreed to gather herbs with Retsu Unohana in West District Twenty-Six.
  • Aizen met Nnoitra outside Las Noches and showed him a photograph of Shiraishi, explaining that Shiraishi had detected and attacked him despite Aizen concealing his Reiatsu.
  • Aizen ordered Nnoitra to go to Soul Society, meet Takehiko Tsunayashiro, and wait until his hiding place was discovered before fighting Shiraishi.
  • Aizen told Nnoitra about his Hollowfication experiment and promised him a fight to the death with Nelliel if he completed the assignment.
  • Aizen summoned Tesla and ordered him to accompany Nnoitra to Soul Society, and they were told to leave at once.

Ch. 18An Unexpected Encounter

Nnoitra entered the Research and Development Institute under Aizen’s concealment and sensed a powerful Reiatsu far to the east. Meanwhile, Shiraishi searched a mountain with Retsu Unohana and Isane Kotetsu for Dragon Lantern Fungus, then stumbled upon Kūkaku’s camp.

  • Takehiko Tsunayashiro told Nnoitra and Tesla to pose as experimental Hollows and keep Aizen’s involvement secret.
  • Nnoitra sensed an immense Reiatsu response from a thousand li to the east while probing the floor.

After clearing up their misunderstanding, Shiraishi agreed to investigate the Tsunayashiro branch family’s compound while Kūkaku searched for Dragon Lantern Fungus.

  • Kūkaku Shiba mistook Shiraishi for someone investigating Takehiko Tsunayashiro and attacked him before he explained why he was there.
  • Kūkaku Shiba told Shiraishi that she suspected Takehiko had modified the Hollow that killed her brother and stolen his body for the Hollowfication Experiment.

  • Shiraishi realized Aizen might be using the investigation to frame Takehiko and draw him into the matter.
  • Shiraishi offered to investigate the Tsunayashiro branch family’s compound if Kūkaku helped him find Dragon Lantern Fungus, and she agreed.

Ch. 20Nobles Have Some Skills Too

Shiraishi infiltrated the Tsunayashiro branch family compound to investigate Takehiko Tsunayashiro, but a Reishi trap exposed him and brought the guards and a Captain-level fighter into the fight. He escaped after deflecting a powerful Kidō attack, while Takehiko watched him leave and remarked that the actors had not all arrived yet.

  • Shiraishi surveyed the compound and decided the six-story central building likely housed Takehiko Tsunayashiro, who still held real power despite his son being the branch family head.
  • Shiraishi sneaked into the upper district but triggered a Reishi trap that immobilized his feet and sounded an alarm.
  • The guards attacked Shiraishi with Kidō while a barrier slowed his movements, and a Captain-level Reiatsu erupted from the central building.
  • Shiraishi blocked Hadō #63: Raikōhō with Steel Tempest, struck an outer guard, and fled rather than continue the fight.
  • Takehiko Tsunayashiro watched Shiraishi leave and said there was no need to hurry because the actors had not all arrived.

Ch. 21A Surprise Return

Shiraishi infiltrated the Tsunayashiro compound again and hid in Takehiko Tsunayashiro’s study, where he overheard Takehiko’s meeting with Soi Fon. Takehiko denied the break-in and dismissed Soi Fon, while she warned him against using forbidden techniques to gain Hollow powers.

  • Shiraishi used his knowledge of the traps to reach the main building and slipped through its barrier while cleaners entered.
  • Shiraishi followed the cleaners to the sixth floor and hid in the study while Takehiko Tsunayashiro worked nearby.

  • Takehiko Tsunayashiro denied that anyone had infiltrated the compound and belittled Soi Fon’s noble status as he refused her help.
  • Soi Fon warned Takehiko about forbidden techniques used to obtain a Hollow’s power, and Takehiko dismissed her.

Ch. 22Everything's in Chaos

Takehiko Tsunayashiro arranged for the Stealth Force to uncover his Hollowfication operation, intending to die for Aizen, but Shiraishi assassinated him first. Shiraishi escaped the estate and clashed with Soi Fon until a Menos Grande’s arrival disrupted their fight.

  • A Menos Grande erupted from the ground, forcing Soi Fon to change direction and interrupting the confrontation.

Nnoitra attacked Soi Fon, badly wounding her after her strikes failed to penetrate his Hierro. Shiraishi rescued Soi Fon and left to confront Nnoitra after Tesla’s Reiatsu disappeared.

  • Nnoitra emerged from underground and challenged Soi Fon over Takehiko Tsunayashiro’s death.
  • Nnoitra sent Tesla to kill the Tsunayashiro Clan guards and Stealth Force members while he attacked Soi Fon.
  • Soi Fon struck Nnoitra with Suzumebachi, but his Hierro blocked her follow-up attack and he overpowered her.
  • Nnoitra hit Soi Fon with a Gran Rey Cero and nearly cleaved her in two with his crescent blade.
  • Shiraishi rescued Soi Fon beneath a tree, then left after Tesla’s Reiatsu vanished.

Ch. 24Facing the Strongest Enemy

Shiraishi fought Nnoitra, whose overwhelming Hierro stopped Shiraishi’s sword from piercing him. After drawing Nnoitra into a tornado with his wind-based attacks, Shiraishi caught him in the air and prepared to unleash his ultimate.

  • Shiraishi met Nnoitra in the countryside north of the Tsunayashiro Clan's encampment, and Nnoitra attacked him with his crescent blade.
  • Shiraishi’s Way of the Wanderer shield absorbed most of Nnoitra’s blow, but Shiraishi’s counterattack failed to pierce Nnoitra’s Hierro.
  • Nnoitra fired a Gran Rey Cero, but Shiraishi blocked it with a wall of wind.
  • Shiraishi dodged Nnoitra’s attack, struck him twice, and built up two stacks of Steel Tempest’s Gathering Storm.
  • Shiraishi provoked Nnoitra and swept him into a tornado that he could not escape, then unleashed his ultimate.

Ch. 25Death

Shiraishi defeated Nnoitra, who died fighting rather than surrendering. After gaining experience from the Espada, Shiraishi met Kūkaku Shiba and directed her to investigate beneath the barracks while he left to deal with Soi Fon.

  • Shiraishi critically wounded Nnoitra, cutting through his Hierro and severing his hand despite Nnoitra's desperate resistance.
  • Nnoitra refused to die before using Resurrección and charged Shiraishi, who thrust Steel Tempest through his heart.
  • Shiraishi reflected briefly on Nnoitra's death, then checked his status and gained 650 experience points.
  • Kūkaku Shiba arrived and asked whether Nnoitra had been Takehiko Tsunayashiro's test subject.
  • Shiraishi told Kūkaku to search beneath the barracks and left to attend to Soi Fon.
